Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:!2003: 06, !incomplete, !open, angelina johnson, demelza robins, heathcote barbary, katie bell, sam capper

Open like yo momma!
WHO: Angelina, Katie, English National Quidditch Team, and friends.
NPCs: Ned the ghost. (If you want to use him you can, he's easily scandalized and analretentive and likes to rant about what proper behavior in mixed company)
WHERE: Katie, Alicia, and Angelina's house.
WHAT: PARTAY
WHEN: Saturday June 26
NOTES: People can tag in whenever and just have fun interacting!

It had been awhile since the girls had thrown a party, but they still had the touch. They'd moved furniture in the living room against the walls so there could be a makeshift dance floor in the living room. There was a ton of liquor with mixes and cooling charms in the kitchen, and music could be heard outside even into the patio and yard, which was lit by the patio lights and tiki torches.

It was a rather brilliant time for friends and celebration, and things were getting well underway.

Demelza couldn't get over the fact that she knew and spent time with famous people on a regular basis. She had had almost four years of it, but she still hadn't really adjusted to it. It was weird, and even her friends who had been her friends since before there was any fame involved were part of it. So it wasn't any surprise that while she was at the party for the English National Team (which she was on, sweet Merlin) she felt thoroughly uncomfortable, as if everyone could tell that she still looked up to most of these people as idols rather than as peers.

She didn't mean to show it, but she was standing on the side, drink in hand, with a very nervous smile on her face. She drank frequently in a vain attempt to camouflage her awkwardness, and she could feel the edges of her brain going fuzzy, but she was still just a little bit too afraid to approach anyone she didn't know well.

Sam had taken the evening as one of those rare occasions to trade in her standard pint of cider for some mixed drink concoction of Ginny's. Her lightweight tolerance offered little in way of resistance to the firewhiskey. Two drinks and she was already well on her way to a giddy drunkenness.

She'd just left her girlfriend to talk Quidditch, intending on stepping out to the patio for a fag when she spotted another of her mates. "Demelza!" Hopping toward the other woman, Sam threw an arm around her and pulled her into an abrupt hug, pressing a kiss to her cheek.

Demelza blinked twice at hearing her name, before Sam hugged her. Trying not to spill her drink she returned the favour, though not the kiss. "Sam!" she exclaimed, nervousness vanishing completely. "It's good to see you!"

She cast around for something to say, quite certain that Sam would have had enough talk of Quidditch, but she couldn't think of anything better. "So what's it like being friends with like half the National team?" she asked, grinning.

"It's been too long!" Sam enthused. She was not too sure, in her slightly fuzzy state, definitively how long it had been, but her general rule was that if she couldn't recall then it was exactly too long.

She started to take a sip of her drink, pausing to grin at Demelza's question. "Brilliant, of course, and congratulations again!" She gestured with her cup, holding it up toward her friend along with her statement. "I've always had a thing for Quidditch players," she joked, "Some of the best people I know." She glanced down at her drink, the third of the evening, and watched the liquid swirl around. "Even if they do try to get me pissed."

It had been far too long, if you asked Katie, since they'd had a party. Katie had been looking forward to tonight since she and the girls had started their planning for it.

Looking around, she was pleased with how things were going so far. Of course, they did know how to throw a good party, even if it had been awhile. She grinned to herself as she helped herself to a drink and moved around the room to mingle.

Heath hadn't crashed a party in quite a while, but he was casual mates with Nathan Fimsy, and when he'd mentioned there was a party for the English National Team going on that night, Heath had figured that a rock star party crashing wasn't likely to get him hexed.

He found Nathan as soon as he was in the door, and found a beer a few minutes after, poking around the party to see who he recognized.

Angelina had made her rounds, saying hello hear and there to random people she knew.

Heath was lucky. Unless a person was just belligerent to her guests, she had a rather lax attitude when it came to party crashers. It consisted of the more the merrier. Especially when they were attractive rock stars.

But Angelina would be nothing if anything actually phased her for even one second. Dressed casually in jeans and a Manchester United tee (it was her party and she'd dress down if she wanted to.) she grabbed another drink from the kitchen and made her way over. "Now, now, who invited you?" She teased, taking a long drink from her glass.

Some people may have been nervous, getting caught crashing. Luckily, Heath had a high enough opinion of his appeal that he was fairly sure he couldn't remember the last time he'd been recognized and then tossed out of somewhere.

"Invited?" Heath laughed and took a drink, looking around the party and then back at the girl - who he thought he should recognize. She was a Quidditch player, he was pretty sure... "Well, you know, your publicist called my publicist...It's a thing."

Angelina smiled, looking more amused than anything. "You flatter me. I don't have a publicist." Which was mostly true. The Harpies had one, and she was positive the English National team did, but she didn't have one personally.

"Angelina." She introduced herself, holding out a hand. Seriously she wasn't one to fawn. "Welcome, help yourself to anything, and watch out for the ghost."

"Well, your team has one, right?" Whichever team she played for. Heath had no idea, but she was cute and here and vaguely familiar, so he was assuming she played for one of them.

Then the name struck, and it fit. Angelina Johnson. He couldn't remember which pro team, but he knew she was playing for England. He took her hand and formally raised it to kiss her knuckles, then winked as he let it go. "Heath, and thank you. Very hospitable. Does he have a name?"

"I suppose we do." She said, not really caring. Angelina signed some autographs sometimes but she really didn't see herself as a celebrity or anyone who needed an entourage.

She leaned against the wall beside him when she let go of his hand. "Smooth, mate." She said a small smile across her lips. "Ned." She said shaking her head. Talking to a Weird Sister about the ghost in her house was a little strange, but she continued. "Normally he stays in the study, but he likes coming out to lecture us on proper behavior in mixed company when we have parties sometimes." Really Ned probably meant well. It could just be annoying.

"So he doesn't like to be scandalized?" Heath took a long pull from his beer, then leaned in close enough that just Angelina heard him say, "That's either very disappointing, or a very nice challenge."

"I've been living here for six years, so he'd damn well better be used to it by now." She said with an easy smile. "Died in like the 20s or 30s, so it's not hard to scandalize him." At least he wasn't a nosy ghost. He might give his unwanted opinion but he did so in the public places in the house. He never ventured into the bedrooms or bathrooms. Men shouldn't go into the sleeping quarters of an unrelated woman after all.

"That's disappointing," Heath laughed, not really at all disappointed. "But I guess we could always try to raise the bar and scandalize him in new and inventive ways..."
