Settling into the new school year was relatively easy after his experience with UA, or maybe it was just memories, since he hadn’t actually lived it yet. That was something he tried not to dwell on, the same that he tried fiercely not to think about what Night Eye had told him either about his future. Things weren’t always nice, and Toshinori wasn’t out to pretend they were, but what he did still have every intent to do was keep a firm smile on his lips, especially in the presence of students and faculty. He might not be the symbol of peace to anyone in Winterdale, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to be the best he could. Besides, he knew he’d step in whenever he saw something that needed attention, it wasn’t like a hero could ever truly stop those instincts, they were what separated a good hero from a great one.
So, when he was approached to help talk to a student who seemed incapable of staying in his own dorm, it sounded like an easy enough task. He’d sort of dealt with the kids in the dorms before, and the occasional sleepover was expected, but maybe not every night, or when there wasn’t something spectacular happening. He’d looked up the boy in question’s schedule without much difficulty, deciding to simply intercept him at the end of the day. He was headed that way, somewhat unsure of how exactly to approach the issue at hand, when most of the time the kids were fine to stay with each other, as long as nothing was set on fire. He was just waiting for that, though, truth be told. He knew his kids, and what they were capable of, he also knew what it was like to be a teenager with a lot of power that you were still learning to control to the fullest.
As classes let out, he waited, smiling and waving to the few students who said hello. It was easy enough to spot Sora, though. Short as he was, his hair was fairly distinctive. “Sora! My boy! Wait for a moment! I’d like to talk to you.” Was he too loud? Maybe? Did anyone ever get in trouble with him? Absolutely not. So despite a couple of surprised looks, no one paid much attention. He wasn’t one of the stricter teachers for sure, so when he stepped carefully between the few remaining students, he simply kept his smile and motioned. “Would you like to step outside or maybe come sit in my office?”
