"Careful, Bokuto." Akaashi felt himself flinch at the sound of the future ace hitting the ball bin. It made such a loud bang. Of course, it was to be explained, but it still made the setter glance around anxiously, as if it could be from something else. He hadn't noticed, really, that he'd practically jumped at Bokuto, grabbing onto him tighter with his free hand, digging his fingernails into his shirt as they hurried to the bench. "Careful."
The light made him squint. At the very least, the two of them weren't flying blind in here anymore. It will be fine. He assured himself; Bokuto's smile so bright, it matched the intensity of the light. There is no one in here but the two of us. Rationalizing things helped, in a sense. Akaashi knew his own mind, if the object of his concentration didn't make sense he tended to list off possibilities, all possibilities. Even the ones were someone cut the power purposefully to murder the both of them. He wasn't stupid, he knew those instances were rare. Probable events were so much harder to determine in the dark, he found himself continuing to cling to Bokuto even as the light guided them to the locker rooms. Conceptualizing all angles was his best bet. Akaashi felt silly the more he thought about it.
The two of them continued forward to the locker rooms. This time without any trouble, and luckily no more ball carts. Feeling out which locker was his, using the light as a guide; Akaashi clicked the combination and got his things out, letting Bokuto's hand free. He went into his bag pocket to grab his own phone, joining Bokuto with using a flashlight as well. He set it on the bench nearby, so they wouldn't change in complete darkness. Their shadows danced along the walls, accompanied by the rattling of the gym and the roar of the storm outside. He threw on his jacket, and pants.
"I apologize if I may have overstepped--" Akaashi hung his head. He didn't have an excuse for his own behavior, nor his own irrational fear. The setter was still glancing around, making sure nothing had followed them here. "The dark...ever since I was a child...hasn't sat well with me." He sighed again, looking up at Bokuto. "Thank you...for leading us out of there."
