Raid on Russet Mine
Who: Sol Commanders. Open.
What: Team Sol Raid.
Where: Russet City Mine.
When: Early morning. 7am till all day.
Note: Fossils are for Sol only. A grunt will take one.

The air smelled of petrol and dirt. There was constant noise; bulldozers, drills, explosives and trucks. Lifts carried miners into and out of the mine, and brought rock and ore out. Huge trucks, shovels and cranes were moving large quantities of minerals and dirt.

Except Russet City Mine was barricaded; the gate was closed and two large delivery trucks were parked in front of the entrance, preventing access. Two young adults, a boy and girl dressed in white sleeveless tops with trousers and skirt, stood guard. The miners who had been digging tunnels and shafts into the earth to reach buried ore had been driven out by Team Sol.

Their grunts were sifting through debris on a large conveyer belt located near the mine. It brought minerals to the surface through tunnels and shafts. A red stone, aflame on the inside, caught their attention and it was carefully placed inside a padded metal box. Heart Scales were tossed in a burlap sack and gold nuggets went in another.

The raid had been received with anger; miners had protested. But their Onix and Machop had been chased away by a large number of Shroomish and Combee. They kept digging.

The male at the gate didn't know what the Commanders wanted with fossils. They were just old bits of rock, he thought. They hadn't even found one! A person was walking by, watching them. He gave them a glare and yelled:

"Get lost! This is our territory!"

"Er, yeah." His Commander didn't seem to particularly appreciate his running into the cave but she apparantly knew, so he kept his mouth shut for a moment. He scratched nervously behind his head, "Well, dunno how to say this... the Champion's up there."

Had Satomi been less adept at hiding her emotions an obviously nervous expression would have shown on her face. She considered herself a fair battler. She could hold her own against many, she could probably hold her own against the Gym leaders, at least up until the sixth or seventh gym. But the champion? There was a reason he was the champion and Satomi was well aware that she couldn't do much she could do against him.

"Find the other Commanders and tell them. I'd prefer not to battle him but, if it comes to it, at least two of us will have to take him on. Hopefully we'll be able to defeat anyone else who's here. Maybe that will get him to leave, but I doubt it." She looked down at Espeon. "Go join Houndour. Don't hesitate to attack if you see anyone unfamiliar." Without a moment's consideration, Espeon hurried away from her trainer.

Had Satomi bothered to look up she would have noticed a Wingull make a fast circle over head then vanish just as fast as it had appered. Moments Later Tamaki came over the ridge and crouched down to listen. So there was more then one commander, was this girl one of them? Apparently so since she was giving orders. Really this was a pain, who did these people think they were.

"Then why not give up now? It would make things easier on yourself," Tamaki said from behind her as he jumped up from his hiding place and smirked, "You know it would take more then two of you to beat Alvar, I should know, when he went against me he had my poor Pokemon in a tailspin for a while. You on the other hand....I kinda doubt that. So how about giving up right now, we can get some pizza, I can take you to the police station...Right nice date if you ask me."

It took little more than a few seconds for Satomi to call out her Raichu. She stared at the blonde for a few moments. "Who are you?" After observing him for a few more moments, she laughed. "Oh! You're that silly little boy from the first gym, aren't you?" She played with a lock of her hair. "Do you really think you can beat me?" She flashed him a toothy grin. "You're no match for me."

Raichu watched the man as well, however his watching was paired with growling. He hadn't battled in so long and, with Espeon keeping anyone else from showing up, now was his chance. Electricity sparked from his cheeks as he anxiously inched towards the man.

Tamaki's eyes went wide. Boy?! Silly?! He was a gym leader, who did this little girl think she was insulting him like that. Let alone asking him Who He Was?!

He scowled and hopped off the rocks that he was on. "I have a name,it's Tamaki Kido, and I'm not a boy, I'm a gym leader. And trust me I'm more then a match for you."

"Haihachi! Get ready, I do believe we have a battle about to happen." He grinned at her.

Haihachi gave a low caw and glared down from the rock where he was roosting and looked directly at Raichu. It was intersting for him, he was used to fighting pokemon that were intimidated easily when the trainers first came, then over confident at times when they came back for a second match. He seemed to smirk, if a beak could be made to smirk some. Confidence was his game, though he was trying to think of ways to deal with this Raichu. He knew the lighting would come and he would have to evade that. But Raichu's were smart and he knew that this one probably had a serious intent to fight. It looked determined but he was ready.

Satomi nearly laughed. So easily agitated, wasn't he? She could already tell that this fight was going to be quite amusing.

She gave a little mocking bow at his introduction. "I'm Commander Cobalt. And I doubt that. The least experienced of trainers mop the floor with you."

She looked down at Raichu. "Ready to battle? You've missed it, haven't you?"

Raichu growled and crouched lower to the ground as he watched the Wingull fly around. A flying Pokemon would be easy to take down. He'd test the other Pokemon first, however. A thunderbolt would allow him to see how fast the Wingull was-- Raichu growled again and the electricity began sparking from his cheeks before centering into one bolt that shot in Wingull's direction-- but it wouldn't matter. He was faster.

"Colbalt, as in the color?" Tamaki asked her then sighed rubbing his head, "Good gravy, what is it with people like you and the weird code names."

He looked from behind his fingers and chuckled, "Izzat what you think? Really now, do you honestly think that I'm all that easy. Just because I'm the first gym leader doesn't mean I'm weak. I just have the tricky job of making sure that the new trainers are ready for the next gym leader."

Tamaki glanced at Haihachi, the Honchkrow and grinned, "Time to show them why it is that your the big boss of dark pokemon, huh HaiHai?"

Haihachi crowed and Tamaki looked pleased, that was until Raichu attacked the one pokemon he didn't want him to. River, the wingull, had been injured and was an older pokemon when Tamaki had gotten him. His speed and timing was off due to the injuries so Tamaki only used him for scouting and other such duties. Gritting his teeth he called out pulling the pokeball, "River return."

It was a close call, but the pokeball was just a fraction of a second faster then the lightingbolt, but barely. River let out a yelp from the tiny bit of electricty that had breached the defensesive of the transfer.

"Shhh, it's okay Riv," Tamaki soothed the pokemon inside the ball who was trembling. "I'm not going to let anyone hurt you."

He reattached the ball to his belt and turned slowly to face Satomi. "You know...I honestly thought that you were a decent sort, guess I was wrong about that. How dare you attack a pokemon that did nothing to you, you vicious little bitch. Just for that, I'm not showing any mercy."

He turned and looked at Haihachi, "Haihachi, use Swagger on this prissy Meanie."

Crowing loudly Haihachi smirked and started to swagger about in a knowing way before Raichu. He figgured if he could piss the little mouse off enough he would have an easier chance winning.

"Cobalt as in the element, you ignorant little boy." She ran her fingers through the ends of her hair as he gave her that little lecture. "Any Pokemon out of its PokeBall is fair game. Oh, and why in the world would you make the mistake of thinking I was a "decent sort"? Are you that easily fooled by a pretty face?"

Satomi knew Pokemon well and, truthfully, she was happy that if she had had to fight a gym leader it was this on. Flying Pokemon were his specialty. There was little reason Raichu wouldn't be able to defeat one or two of his Pokemon. After that she'd need Espeon back, but not just yet. She wouldn't be of much use against a Honchkrow.

Raichu was quite on the verge of being rather dangerous to himself, and possibly to her. She couldn't go easy and hope that the longer the battle was the more likely Raichu would get better. "Raichu, use Thunder." The little mouse shot a glare over at Satomi before directing the Thunder attack at the Honchkrow.

"Haihachi, move," Tamaki quickly shoved the bird pokemon aside as he took the hit from the electric shock. Trembling some he glared at Raichu. "It's a sad day when a cute little pokemon like that could become so vicious. Whatever you did to it...it's clearly not your friend."

He looked at Haihachi, "Wing Attack, now Haihai."

Haihachi cawed and sent the wing attack flying at Raichu. This little mouse was going to be easy to beat.

Now it was Satomi who nearly growled. "I didn't do anything to him! Don't you dare assume that you know anything about my relationship with my Pokemon!" This wasn't good. She was letting him get to her too much. She was supposed to be cool and collected.

"Agility," she hissed, now glaring in the blonde boy's direction. Raichu darted back and forth avoiding the attack.

Satomi's eyes darted from the Honchkrow to Tamaki. She needed to get away from here. "Raichu, return!" And with that she ran. Houndour and Espeon were around there somewhere. If Tamaki gave her more trouble they could help her.

Now, where the hell was Edgar? She didn't have the patience to deal with this obnoxious boy on her own.

"Hey little girl, I'm not through playing with you yet. You didn't finish the battle, get back here you little...coward.." He tried to get up but the zapp from the raichu was too much and Haihachi looked at him then nuddged River's ball.

"Uh...Hai...what are you..," he slumped more and the wingull appeared out of the ball. On glance told him that his master was going to need help. In caws and squeals, the two pokemon conversed and soon River was on his way out to find someone to help Tamaki.

Igglybuff rolled and a circle around Alvar's feet as he waited for the police to arrive, Exploud's roaring terrifying the pokemon of grunts who approached him into ending the battles before they began. Igglybuff attepted to imitate the roar but instead produced a high, continuous song note followed by a hiccup. Her strong lungs combined with a tiny, light body meant the force of the hiccup made her bounce and she contunued circling Alvar, bouncing in the air every so often. It was all very intimidating.

When the wingull emerged from the mines Alvar quickly become concerned. He had a lot of faith in the strength of the gym leaders but he didn't want to risk either of them being injured. He didn't understand a word of the bird's squaking but Igglybuff seemed to, her hiccups increased in strength and she bounced down into the mine.

"Terra." He said, releasing Rhydon. They had been together for long enough that he trusted her for something like this. "You're in charge of Exploud. Don't let anyone into the mine and keep an eye on that houndoom."

With that he dashed after Igglybuff and the Wingull. Hopefully the police would bring a Growlithe who Rhydon could explain the situation to.

"You alright, lad?" He asked when he finally ran into Tamaki, looking around to ensure there was no chance of attack. Igglybuff rolled in front of the fallen leader's face and stopped, hiccupping and bouncing every few seconds.

Tamaki was out of it. Yes he was awake but his mind was fuzzy and his body hurt from the blast of eletricty. Seeing the bouncing Igglybuff produced a horse wretched chuckle from his dry throught that sounded more like a dying man's cough. "She...need's water..."

He manged to turn his eyes up at Alvar, but didn't move his body. Every word hurt to speak, and Tamaki was exhasted. He'd forgotten how strong a bolt could be from a Raichu. They were bigger then pikachu's and tend to be more explosive with their attacks. He managed to twist his lips into one word, "Sore."
