As always, life on Atlantis moved on dispute weddings and honeymoons. Daniel and Teyla spent a few days on Earth for their honeymoon, even though Sam told them to be gone for longer. Nether liked the idea of being away from the city for that long, though. Especially with so much going on.
The city, and everyone on it, faced several problems. The first came when the crystals they'd gotten over two years ago slowly started to die. Gate activity to Earth was suspended for close to a month while Fred and Rodney figured out the problem. Once it was fixed, they decided to figure out a way to artificially grow the crystals in the city since they were become more dependent on them.
Carson and Caitlin made advancement with the retro-virus, mostly thanks to Ronon who'd captured a Wraith during an off-world mission. But before they could test the retro-virus, the Wraith tried to escape and had to be killed. They were back to square one, which seem to piss the IOA off and they demanded the retro-virus be completed within six months or they would find "someone more suitable" to do it.
But despite all of the bad things, some good things happened too. Teyla brought two women from her village to help watch the children. Everyone agreed to hire both girls - Aislin and Natalia - and soon they had set up one of the empty family quarters into a daycare center for the children and a sleeping area for the two girls.
"Look, mommy! Finn a girl!"
Fred looked up from where she was sitting and at Alex, who was on the floor, playing with Finn and Callie. Somehow, she had managed to put a pink shirt on poor Finn, who looked horrified. "I don't think Ronon will like it very much if he saw that," she said as she started to slowly stand. She was a month from giving birth and sometimes it was difficult for her to stand without help.
"I'll do it," Caitlin said as she pulled herself away from the crib, that was set up in the corner. She went over to Finn and pulled the shirt off him while Fred watched.
There was something going on with her but Fred couldn't pinpoint it. She knew it had nothing to with Carson since Caitlin and him spent almost all of their free time together and seemed very happy. Plus, they were now living together. But whenever Caitlin was around the kids, she almost looked sad and like she was missing out on something. Fred wanted to ask why but figured Caitlin would talk about it if she needed to.
"Thanks," Fred said before she glanced at the clock. "We should go. The meeting starts soon." Daniel had asked for a staff meeting that morning. About what, Fred didn't know.
Caitlin nodded and, after Fred had said goodbye to Alex, the two left the quarters and made their way to Operations. Sam, Daniel and Rodney were already there. Fred took a seat after greeting all of them.
"How's your dad, Caitlin?" Sam asked.
"He's doing good. He wants to come visit but doesn't know if the IOA will let him," Caitlin said as she shrugged her shoulders.
Soon, everyone else was there and Daniel cleared his throat. "I've figured out another part of the writing I found in the relic room," he started to explain. "We all know John and Fred are the guardians and according to this, they have second in commands."
"Second in commands?" Fred asked with a curious look. "What does that mean?"
"I'm not really sure what they do but I've found the word 'connection' quite a few times," Daniel answered.
"Do you know who they are?" Sam asked.
"Yes."
"One of them is me, isn't it?" Rodney asked with a smug look.
Fred glanced over at him and prayed to God Daniel said no. She was having enough issues with her blood pressure and didn't need Rodney making it worse.
"Actually no," Daniel said before he adjusted his glasses. "Carson and Caitlin are."
