Who: Francis Barton, Isaac Lahey
What: Date!
Where: Outside-ish, probably
When: Backdated to Friday night, because I'm lame.
Ratings/Warnings: TBD, probably low?
Status: In progress
Isaac wasn't sure why exactly he'd decided to ask Francis out in the middle of a nonsense post about sex. He'd been bored when he made it, and tired of the things he usually said, and just looking for a little trouble. But then Francis listed his name, and Isaac just asked. He liked Francis. They got along and he was cute and he came by whenever Isaac was feeling sorry for himself without complaint or any reason, aside from he was nice.
Isaac missed Scott and Allison, and they were gone from here. (And gone from the world at large, in Allison's case.) But he didn't want to be alone forever, and Isaac had a different perspective now. Whatever he and Allison had - she'd loved Scott, and Scott loved her. Staying away from someone he liked because he'd lost someone who wasn't his - it didn't feel any better. And Isaac did stupid things when he felt alone. He'd been in this town a while, aside from his jaunt back where he got a first hand view of what happened. It didn't feel as soon or as raw as maybe it should.
So he hadn't exactly intended to ask, but once he had, Isaac thought it wasn't the worst idea he'd ever had. Isaac was attracted to a lot of people (most people, honestly), but he'd liked Francis basically since they first started talking. So why not? Francis had family here (in a sense), but Isaac got the feeling he got lonely sometimes too, and he had a rocky history with a terrible world, too. It made sense. Isaac's sense of timing just always sucked.
And Isaac had never actually dated. He'd been quiet, afraid, and isolated before he was bitten, and then he had been running on adrenaline and new awareness of the world (sex included), so he'd run a little wild along with Erica. And basically since then his life had been chaos, weirdness, and pining after people. So he had no idea what he was doing. But Francis probably wouldn't care. He didn't seem that picky. And doing dinner out and a movie seemed ... dull?
So Isaac went for the dinner part, but skipped the restaurant, getting a bunch of sandwiches and salads and things from the Greek place. Isaac liked outside better, anyway. And they usually just hung out in his apartment if they were together. So outside, picnic kind of thing - that was date-like? Right?
Maybe he should have asked for advice. But who was he going to ask anyway? The Hulk? Derek? Isaac was a mess and clueless, but even he had better dating history than Derek. He'd just wing it. They could go for ice cream afterward, or a movie, or something if the outside eating thing didn't work.
He had a bag of food and a couple bottles of iced tea, and a slightly sheepish expression on his face when he showed up at Francis' door, dressed in jeans and a henley because he'd decided anything else smacked of trying too hard. "Hey," he said. "I haven't actually figured out dates before so ... picnic and walk outside, with sandwiches. Or we shove it in the fridge and go to an actual restaurant? Hawkeye's choice?"
