And why does he deserve that, Elijah? After everything he's done. Explain that to me, please. Klaus has spent a thousand years destroying lives. Explain to me why he should have that.

Jenna never got to have that. Or Ric. John and Isobel may have made their share of mistakes but they didn't have to die. Hell, what about Katherine? That girl you loved so much. Remember how he hunted her for five hundred years? So, what did Klaus do to deserve to play happy families in New Orleans? Why should we forget everything he did and just wish him well? Please explain it to me, because I'm not seeing it. I'm really not.

Everyone deserves a chance at redemption, Elena. Most of what has happened in Klaus' life is a reflection of what Mikael has done to him. Of what I allowed to happen to him. Niklaus did not deserve the abuse he suffered. He has not always handled it with the best of grace, and he has done horrible things, but he deserves happiness. He deserves a chance at redemption.

Would you say the same thing about Stefan in his many ripper phases? Damon who has done many horrible things to you and your family?

Should the family of the waitress you killed forgive you?

And it was not just Niklaus hunting Katerina, it was I who hunted her as well.

I am not asking you to wish my brother well. I am not asking you to care. You asked and I simply answered your question.

And how many chances does Klaus get? How many times does he just get a clean slate with you? He's had chances. And every time he throws it away. Every time he has a chance to do something good, he spits in people's faces. He doesn't care about anything but himself and power.

Stefan and Damon have both made a lot of mistakes, but at least they try. They make an effort.

I'll never forgive myself for the things I did when I turned off my humanity, but I am trying to make up for them.

Klaus doesn't try. He doesn't ever try. I don't think there's an ounce of humanity to him.

I'm sorry, Elijah, but I can't care about a monster like him.
