Entry tags:character: alec tremont, character: andy johansen, character: mickey o'hare

Who: Andy and Alec
When: Friday, June 11
Where: Andy's room
What: Andy's got something Alec might want
Rating: PG-13 for use of weed
Status: private/incomplete

After Char had left scathing notes about the stink of the room on the mental notepad last time Andy had been out, he'd made a few small changes to his habits. He'd cobbed together a window seat that was relatively level with the bottom ledge of the window in his room, wide enough to sit on. A small table was nearby, a highball glass filled with drink already poured. A small tin box held his weed and papers, also on the table, as he sat on the bench with the window wide open. His legs dangled out, and he'd pulled the window out enough that he could sit in the open space.

He lit his first of the evening, celebrating a relaxing day by relaxing a bit more. Drawing the smoke into his lungs, he held it, letting the lassitude begin before he exhaled and reached for a drink.

Alec was just coming in from wandering aimlessly, figuring that he might as well enjoy the decent weather while it lasted. It would surely be raining again soon enough. He tipped his head back, sniffing the air, and smirked when he caught a whiff of smoke. Very distinctive smoke.

He looked around, and finally up, where he saw a set of legs hanging out the window. "Don't jump," he called up. "Or if you do, leave me your stash in your will, yeah?"

Andy heard the call and looked down. "You'd have to pry it from my cold, dead hands, and since I'm not jumping, that'll be a while. C'mon up if you want to join me. The scotch is halfway decent. Amazing what I can get away with buying on the budget." He raised the glass and took an appreciative sip.

"I'll be right up," he said. Alec went into the house, stopping in his room to grab a bottle, then to the room that he thought of as Jimmy's, regardless of who else might inhabit the body most of the time. He tried not to think about how many days it had been since Jimmy had had the body... it wouldn't take him anywhere good. There were drugs and alcohol in the offing, and that would make everything just fine.

For a while, anyway. But he couldn't really expect more than that.

He entered without knocking, shutting the door behind him, and joined Andy on the bench he'd created, setting the bottle of Maker's Mark between them. "I've never found a scotch that didn't taste like fellating an Ent," he said, by way of explanation.

"You go down on many trees to test that out?" Andy asked, laughing at the image. He tilted the glass, looking at it, then shook his head. "Guess I like wood after all." Raising the glass to Alex, he added, "No offense," then drank.

He took in a long drag from the joint, then held it out in loose fingertips to Alec while he let the sensation absorb into his bones.

"None taken," Alec said easily, taking the joint. The smoke burned his lungs, but it felt good as it seeped into his system. He handed it back and poured himself a glass of bourbon, sipping it and leaning against the window frame.

"So what's your role in this... comedy of errors?"

"Role?" Andy twisted around enough to lean against the side of the frame and look over at Alec more comfortably. "Which comedy of errors is that?"

"Take your pick, really." Alec took another sip of his drink. "The X-Men thing that's going on in this building, the timeshare that is your head... either or, or pick something else. I'm flexible." He smirked.

"Always like comic books, but never thought I'd be in one, unless I had a terrible chemical accident," Andy mused. "Since I don't get to play with the chemicals anymore, that's not likely. I leave that hero shit to Mickey."

He silently asked for the joint back and took another long drag, waiting before he spoke again. "We have roles in my head? That's news to me. I'm the one who buys the beer."

Alec cocked his head. "Don't you? Mickey is crazy, Char is the one who knows what's going on, and Jimmy is in complete denial. N'est pas?"

"No idea," Alec admitted. "Maybe they'll run into some kind of evil plastic joker and need him reconstituted." He half smiled. "I didn't realize when I told Jimmy okay that it wasn't the one I knew, and I definitely didn't know it was an invitation for enrollment at the Xavier School."

"Did Char ever tell you I replaced your beer that I drank?"

Andy nodded, "Yeah, she did, and thanks. We leave notes."

He considered rolling another joint, but that'd mean getting out of the window, which would mean moving in the first place. Whereas the alcohol was easily reachable without needing to get up. "You're still here," he pointed out.

"It's a job. It pays pretty well and I pretty much get to do what I want. It's not as if I would be dealing with fewer idiots in another work environment, and mostly they leave me alone anyway. And it could be interesting." Alec shrugged, shifting to swing his legs out the window. "It wouldn't kill you to fall from this height." He sounded almost disappointed.

"I find I like my life more when it's less interesting," Andy mused.

He followed Alec's gaze, down past their legs to the ground. "Probably not. If you really want to kill yourself, go up to the top of one of the skyscrapers and leap off. You'd get that sensation of flying right before the death." Glancing over he added, "Can't see why you'd do it, though. Seems a waste."

Alec shrugged. "Can't see why I wouldn't," he responded. "Except that it's so overwrought and melodramatic."

He sighed. "I meant interesting as in challenging. Most things... most work I get paid for in any kind of legitimate way, although I'm not sure how legitimate this is, is dull. What I do, what I enjoy, is more of an avocation than a career path, but now I'm getting paid to do what I actually enjoy. I guess I'm on my way to achieving the American dream, only this place doesn't have a white picket fence and what exactly does point five children look like, anyway?"

"Makes me think of bible stories, and cutting the baby in half," Andy commented, gesturing with the glass. "But I don't see the appeal of children to begin with. And you don't sound like the white picket fence type anyway, so since you're getting what you want, just sit back and enjoy the ride."

"I shudder to think of what might happen if I passed on my genes. Not that there's much danger of that, is there?" Alec smirked. "What type am I, then, in your estimation?"

"Not given where you're putting them. Or not putting them," Andy allowed.

He took the question seriously, turning again to draw one foot up and rest it on the windowsill for balance as he leaned back against the frame. He took a long gulp to finish the glass, then set it aside, feeling the warmth well enough in his body and not needing to waste the scotch by drinking it when he already had a halfway decent buzz going.

"Snarky. Too intelligent for your own good. Standoffish. Probably the radical loner sort."

"It just seems as if he's borrowing trouble. Making things more difficult on himself than they need to be. Not that I'm one to talk about that." Alec rolled his eyes and took a long drag from the joint that they'd been passing back and forth.

It wasn't easy on any of them, but Andy didn't see any point in going over and over the issues. "Can't let things get to you," he said instead, taking the joint back for a drag of his own. "What're you winding yourself up about?"

"I don't even know," Alec admitted. "It's utterly fucked up, isn't it? I wasn't even particularly interested in him... the other him that I knew. Probably because I suspected he was interested in me, and that's just the sort of disaster I am. Why am I telling you this? Don't let him know."

"So you're saying you only want the ones who don't want you back? That is fucked up," Andy had to agree. "Won't say anything, but can't promise he won't see it somewhere in there. Not that he cares to go through what the rest of us do with our time."

"Yes. No. I don't know." Alec shook his head and poured himself another drink. "I used to. Now... I don't know what I want. I'm like a bloody damn teenager all of a sudden when I was jaded at fifteen. I'm doing it all backward. I blame them." He jerked his chin towards the door.

"Being surrounded by hormonal kids under the age of twenty? Yeah, it'll do it to you." Andy tapped the side of his head; after all, he lived with one permanently. "Then just tell him you feel like an idiot and tell him what you want. Either you get it, or you don't, and you can go on with life."
