Where: the group house
What: meetings
Rating: likely PG
Status: private/incomplete

New clothes were bliss. Music outside her own head was bliss. Waking up in a warm bed that didn't have bugs and being able to take a hot shower was absolute bliss. And the best part was that most of them time, they were completely alone here while everyone else worked things out. When she'd woken up, she'd gone through the notes the others had left, put away the mess Andy had left and aired the room out from smoke, then went down into the common room to crank the music.

She danced cheerily as she sang, a hairbrush held up like a microphone as she belted out the lyrics to a favorite pop song, her voice soaring with the music, letting it override the noise inside her mind. Loud as it was, she didn't hear when the door opened, and someone else came in.

He reached out, his hand gently resting on her shoulder, warm where it fell against her skin. "Are you okay?" Ganesh had caught the wince on Char's face, sudden though it had been.

"I'll be fine," she said quickly. "Just someone... something had a reaction. Don't know, it just ached all of a sudden. But whatever got whoever cranky, it's fading now." She smiled then, comforted by the touch. "Thank you for the concern. Maybe that's why you're here. You care."

"And no one else does?" His mouth quirked. He let his hand fall from her shoulder. "Perhaps it's better not to think of it. The why."

Ganesh paused, then said, "What do you mean, reaction?"

Char made a face, no idea how to explain. "Just. Like the system crashed. Needle hitting the hard drive too hard and skipping across the tracks. Sudden burst of metal music. A temper tantrum on the inside, that's all." Her fingers fluttered by the side of her head, then she shrugged again.

"But why would they- he? They? Have a temper tantrum?" He was trying not to look as interested as he was. It seemed inconsiderate somehow.

"I guess someone didn't like what I said? It's... it's hard to communicate. Sometimes violence is the only thing that gets through when one of us is out like this. Someone just had a strong opinion."

Char had done it herself, but she didn't think Ganesh needed to hear about her pitching a fit that would rival a two-year-old's tantrum, just because she wanted to get her point across when someone else had the eyes, hands, and voice.

"That you wished you could read minds?" How irritable are Char's other... quarters? Ganesh's face abruptly scrunched at the thought, repressing a slight smile, before he added, "That seems a bit unreasonable."

He watched her face then, to see if it changed.

She winced, a sudden bright, sharp memory flashing into her mind, almost painful in its intensity: stepping into another body and feeling that swift moment of synchronization, thoughts tripping over each other, slippery but easy to catch, then stepping out to speak them aloud. It was a painful memory, and one that was locked away quickly once it has slid through her mind.

"It's a bit of a sort spot where Mickey's concerned."

He realized, suddenly, that that might mean and apologized. "I'm sorry. I think I understand now. I really oughtn't have brought that up again."

"It's alright," she said, her lips pursing for a moment as she insisted, looking inward, "It is. We're just talking about it, not doing it, and I can't anyway, remember?"

"Don't worry. It's something he's going to have to talk about eventually, because shouldn't everyone be figuring out how we can all use our various strengths to be a team? Not that I don't get to have that conversation almost nightly, sometimes, but if Mickey's going to be using his abilities near other people, then they ought to know some of the drawbacks, too," Char pointed out.

"Maybe you should write an educational brochure," Ganesh quipped. There was no point, he thought, in making dark of the subject. "It might be a conversation worth having with the others... if you can have that conversation easily." His eyebrow quirked, wondering how it worked for them.

Char giggled. "A cheat sheet. It might be useful. I can start it and see what everyone else adds onto it. And we do talk... I don't think they did, before I came in here. Boys." She huffed a sigh with a humored roll of her eyes. "I think it would be easier if we can find a way to work together. Of course, I also think it would be easier if we could find a way to switch when we're awake."

"Have you tried?" Ganesh asked. "Or is that something that they don't agree upon either?"

"We've tried, but it hasn't worked. Mickey sometimes wouldn't mind, but most of the time doesn't want to give himself up. Andy's very whatever about it all, but he likes getting his time out. Jimmy..." Char made a face. "Jimmy's probably the problem. He likes to be independent." Her expression brightened. "But forced naps work sometimes, as long as the right one comes out after. I took a nap and left a note for Mickey about the letter, and he managed to get to the meeting."
