Karaoke time! (Lindsey, Lorne)
(Takes place right after this thread)

Lois let Lindsey lead her into Caritas, not quite sure what to expect. Whatever she might have been expecting, the array of colorful, horned demons was not it. She instinctively moved a little bit closer to Lindsey.

"You sure this is the right place?" she said in a low voice.

She was open minded enough that if he said that these people weren't going to eat them for dinner, then she'd trust that for now.

She was also still curious to hear the answer to her question about the owner of this place. She'd heard rumors that people could go in and sing and have their fortunes read, or something along those lines. Of course, the last fortune teller she'd gone to had told her that she was destined to end up with a guy who wore tights and liked to fly. She might have previously joked about waiting for her crossdressing pilot, but after seeing those comics, she had a feeling that that fortune teller hadn't simply been some hack making up a laughable story. Maybe.

Lindsey chuckled at something the guy behind the bar said, and tilted back his drink. He could see that Lorne was not done yet, so he stayed put.

"Thing is," Lorne said, voice very sympathetic, "I don't always get all the information. On this one, what I see for Lindsey is a whole lot of trouble--with or without you, and he knew it was coming. Sounds to me like it's more his trouble than yours, but I don't see the all the bits of this jigsaw. And personally? I'm kinda glad I don't. I'm not a fighter. I'm an entertainer. I can't even wield a well-pointed word. I'm canon fodder."

Lorne sighed.

"I think you better ask him your questions after I fill him in on what I saw, and go from there. But one thing?" Both eyebrows rose. "I may not like the guy 100%, but if this trouble is what I think it is, he doesn't deserve the nightmare that's coming to him. Nobody does. It's your choice if you get involved. But if you don't? Might not be a bad idea to get him a phone number for someone who can."

Lois took a moment to process this and then nodded.

"I'll let you two talk before I ask my questions. Besides, I've got at least one hero on speed dial if he needs it," she said with a little half-smile.

She moved over toward Lindsey and took the seat next to him.

"Lorne wants to talk to you. I'll just be over here while you get the rundown."

She was a little shaken at the idea of some sort of future trouble, but then again when wasn't she finding herself in life-or-death situations? Lorne's warning was vague enough that it could just be another day at the office for her really. Or perhaps Lois wasn't one to really take danger seriously until it was staring her in the face. The number of tight spots she'd gotten herself in over the years might testify to that.

Lindsey's face held something of a scowl, but he nodded and walked over to Lorne.

The demon took a final drink of his Sea Breeze and sighed.

"Other than impersonating that little girl from Poltergeist, all I can say is that you and Lois? There's a thing there. I can't see what, and I can't see how, but she's going to get involved in this with you. And you are not Superman." He glared. "Do not get her killed."

"When you said 'they,' you mean...."

"Oh come on. You had to have some idea of their reach." Lorne pointed to one of the more visible tattoos. "You knew they could manipulate dimensions. And while I'm not entirely sure we're talking about... what we're talking about... I'm pretty sure. Because when I can't see all the details, something is MAKING it so I can't see the details."

Lindsey's heart stopped. But at least, today, it was in his chest.

"I hope for your sake you've got a lot of tricks up your sleeve and you're really, really going good. Because I cannot and will not stand for you getting their backing, bub."

Now Lindsey glared, and grunted, but he didn't waste his breath. Lorne had a point, and it wasn't his kind of thing to shoot the messenger.

He got up from the table after another minute and went back to Lois, ordering a double first.

He gave her a slightly fake smile, unsure what to say.
