Mod notes. Again.
Before this begins, it should be noted that we do not enjoy policing this game. We'd rather it just run itself and we do all the little maintenance things and get to have a good time like everyone else is. We don't want to have to keep bringing things up. We don't want to start sounding like harpies or your parents. And we certainly don't want to become a bastard hybrid of the two, screeching and clawing out eyes while yelling that you should clean up your room. We are a small game now, filled with just a few players running a good number of characters. We love that everybody has their own plot happening and that you all have continued to want to play here. Keep these following things in mind, and we can all have what we want. Which is to remain harpy free.
1. We want to remind people again that they should not be starting new logs when they have important-to-character things happening in another. You don't know how your character's mindset is going to be if they're in the middle of turmoil or something big going on somewhere else. You need to be able to know how your character would react to certain situations before you dump them into those situations. If your character has a pet die, then having them walk into a pet store with a huge smile on their face makes no sense. Or they're a complete sociopath.
2. You need to be paying attention to the OOC board.
3. You need to tag logs that have smex and/or violence in them with warnings. You can do this in the subject line or in the body of the post. If you don't know that it's going to head that way when you start things, that's okay, just go back and make an edit to include it. Sometimes things get naughty when all we thought we were doing was going to the grocery store.
4. There is a new tag for the community. It is zz: status: complete. Please tag your finished logs with this. Nels does a lot of work to keep our current logs list current. So if you see it pop up with one of your finished logs on it, just go to that log and tag it. Or let us know on that post that you're done so we can tag it.
5. Dropped threads are becoming a problem again. This is unfair for everyone involved. If you're going to take a while to tag, let your partner know. If you're just done with the log, let them know that, too. Don't just drop one thing in favor of another. It's tacky. It's rude. It will get you kicked out of this game.
On this track, if you spearhead a plot and get a lot of people involved, please resolve it. Run it to a natural end, or if you lost interest, find a way toward a new conclusion.
6. This is a game, not a psl. There are game wide plots that go on. If your characters do not notice one thing or another, that's fine. That makes sense. Not everybody is going to be aware of every little thing that happens. But if they just outright ignore an entire plot? We're going to call you out on it.
7. Continuity is another thing that needs to be addressed. Forcing situations doesn't make sense. Dropping character history that is in-game doesn't make sense. It's understandable when you want certain things to happen, but ignoring everything else that has been done to make sure that it does is not how we do things. Jack Napier has done many horrible things to many people in his time in the City. He cannot suddenly become friends with Dinah or begin a sweet, sweet romance with Dean. Unless he kidnaps them, drugs them, brainwashes them, and tortures them until they forget who they are. Outside of that, they're going to remember everything that he's done and reject any gifts he sends. Please just make sure that your choices make sense. That's all we ask.
