Its Tom's birthday in a couple of days and as it happens, he's had rather a bad track record with celebrating this, not to mention he has lost two good friends to the seal as of late. It's been a hard time for him, which is why I hope you will all join me two days hence at 7pm for just such an event. I've hired a hall and food is of course to be provided.

I thought it might do us good to have something good to focus on
