Lydia had still been asleep when Mitchell had woken, looking just so incredibly peaceful. For a few moments he had watched her with a soft smile on his face before he slipped out of the bed, careful not to wake her. His footsteps light, he made his way to the kitchen, keeping as quiet as possible as he made coffee for her and tea for himself. And as the drinks brewed, he wandered to the small table, picking up his Bauble. He ran his fingers over the glossy surface for a moment before putting it in the pocket of his dressing gown. For months now he had known exactly what he was going to wish for, and had been tempted to make it instantly before he had decided to wait. Not because of any doubts, but because making the wish on Christmas morning seemed appropriate.
And now he was practically bouncing with anticipation.
Careful not to spill the hot drinks, he carried them back to the bedroom, his smile widening when he saw his girlfriend awake. "Good morning, gorgeous." Mitchell placed the mugs down before he leaned over and kissed her deeply, thinking once again just how beautiful she looked when she was still sleepy, hair freshly down and completely relaxed.
"I've got you a couple of presents, but there's one I want to start with." Mitchell sat on the very edge of the bed, careful not to squash the still hidden Bauble in his pocket. "It's sort of a present for me as much as for you though. Interested?"
