The best people to ask would be the Winchesters and Bobby Singer, they're the ones native to this world, but I can tell you what I do know. The primary problem here is demons. They exist by possessing people. There are ways you can protect yourself against possession, amulets or a tattoo. Killing a demon is hard, and would kill the host as well, but there are ways to hurt them, like using holy water. Best thing to do is exorcise them, there's a very long Latin thing to do that. I can send you guys a copy. There are other creatures here, "monsters" for lack of a better term. Though a lot of the non human displaced, myself included, aren't big fans of the term.
