Anna of Arendelle enjoys the sun ([info]alwaysinthesun) wrote in [info]wariscomingcom,

ooookay, and I have zero magical talent. That crosses magic off my list of talent things. I sat there on the floor reading magic books and saying ridiculous things to try to turn on a light bulb and nothing happened except me feeling stupid and possibly again confusing the books.

I think I would have enjoyed watching that.

Still trying to find a hobby?

Uh huh. Plot twist, it's not magic.

Well, it could be worse. You could have had magical talent and ended up making all the light bulbs in the building explode. What else have you tried so far?

At least it wouldn't have put me to sleep. Magic, dancing, jump rope, jacks, painting (it did not go well Elsa's favorite sweater can testify), guitar.

You do not know how tempted I am to introduce you to boxing. I might get yelled at for it not being a ladylike hobby to get you into but I think you could enjoy it.

I don't know what that is bu why not? I don't have much else to do here in this world. No princess stuff anyway.

Boxing is where you put on very thick gloves and punch things. You start with hand held targets, then punching bags, then people. I more or less stopped at the punching bag stage because I'm not really in the mood to punch people any more.

You punch people and its okay?

Yes, at least in boxing. And mixed martial arts too, I guess, but I stay away from that because people can get seriously hurt doing that.

Sure. I've got my self defense class Wednesday night, but Thursday I could do it. I get off work at five, if you want to meet me at the Center.

Okay. Daddy taught me self defense already, but I don't remember him ever mentioning boxing.

Wear comfortable clothing. I'd recommend shorts that aren't too tight but aren't super loose either, and probably a tank top that isn't loose. And maybe you can bring a change of clothes and some stuff to take a shower with. Boxing gets you sweaty and I'd like to take you out to dinner afterward.

You were very lucky that you were not killed.

Reading spells aloud without knowing for certain what you are doing can be dangerous. It is also entirely possible to have magical ability and not be able to "cold-read" something directly from a book. The foundational concepts must be in place in many instances.

If you wish to explore magic, it would be best done with some guidance.

And in my land it can be taught.

But as Loki has said, the words itself do not form magic in a person. For that you need a teacher.

Perhaps you should stay away from the magical texts in future.

I don't know if I want to do magic. It seems like a lot of work.

Okay.

Darling do you think there's a hobby out there for you that won't require effort.

If you wish to be good at something, you work at it, and if you have no wish to be good at it then what is the point.

I was kinda hoping yeah.

I thought that's what hobby's were, just stuff that you're good at

No such thing exists.

No, that's a talent. A hobby is something you enjoy. You can learn and gain skill at it but it will not be right away

Oh. Which is the better thing to have?

I don't see that there is a better or worse. I believe everyone to have a talent of some kind. It might just not be so obvious at first.

A hobby is something you feel you would enjoy. You don't do it for any other reason than that.

Why is this so vital?

Oh. I just..never had either. I want something that's mine. I don't really have a thing. Everyone around me either is magical or talented in some way, I'm just..me.

I don't believe that.

Ultimately though, you need to put effort in, work for what you want, be willing to do that and you'll get there

I'm sorry, I was just trying to find a talent. I wasn't trying to do that.

They looked like harmless ones. I wasn't reading anything that looked like 'weird ritual things' or whatever.

I don't think magic is for me.

It is all right; I am simply glad you were not harmed. I did not mean to seem as though I were lecturing.

Even harmless spells channel power. But I am glad you did at least take that precaution.

There is nothing wrong with that. It is not for everyone.

You did get kinda lecture-face, but it's okay. It was probably stupid to try.

Anything that said demon or dark thing I basically went nope and put it away.

It seemed cool.

Probably for the best

Dance. You should try dance. It seems something you'd be good at

I tried the street version the other day, but I kept tripping on my own feet. I liked the music though.

And James says there's a thing where you can punch people and it's okay.

That's hardly what I was thinking. You are a princess, not some street dancer.

...or there's that.

Maybe. I also kinda sorta wrecked your blue sweater thing the other day. Sorry?
