It looks like I'm gonna have to get used to being settled for a while.

Thanks for your welcome the other day Lois. Anyone know somewhere a bit more permanent than the inn or can we just stay there indefinitely? I'm a bit short on cash at the moment.

My name's Nathan Drake. Should I specify human? That seems like a thing too

Eta: [Florence]

Hi. Kon mentioned you're working on some permanent place for people here? Given I'd have a fairly big interest in that I'd like to help out if you need it.

Seems we're in a place that needs to specify human these days.

John Ross Ewing, wish I could say welcome, but that don't seem exactly right around here.

Seems that way, yeah.

You might just be right about that too. Been here long John?

Just over a month. Not even a little used to it yet. First person I spoke to is a vampire and there's no such things in my world. Then there was finding out my parents are from some soap opera. So you might want to avoid Googling yourself, unless you want to be potentially traumatized.

I got tangled up with some zombie like guys once. But no vampires. Think I just pissed one off though, apparently they're allowed to use threats of violence when they're pissed? Don't know the rules yet I guess.

Thanks for the warning. That had to suck.

I figure they're not much different from the folks I grew up with in Texas, threaten a lot, probably could do what they claim, aint likely to follow through with it. They just got fangs where the guys at home had guns is all.

Was weird seeing my Momma when she was my age on the TV screen.

That's probably a safe bet.

I can imagine. I'm sort of tempted now. God knows what anyone would make of my life.

Besides, reading back, I figure if they actually went on a killing spree every time they get mouthy, the whole planet would be dead by now.

I recommend a good bourbon in your hand before you start reading then.

Doesn't make it nice manners but I see your point.

Fair advice. Might give it some thought first.

Some people might say nice manners are overrated.

The Bed of Roses bar as some good liquor, if you need some. Lexi's been kind enough to let me prop up the bar since I arrived here.

I think everything pisses those guys off at least once. If you don't do it you're probably insanely lucky. Don't sweat it.

Hey. Uh no. You don't need to specify anything really. But as far as permanent places go nope. Not yet but we're working on a new one. Actually if you wanna help with it I think Florence was the one in charge. And she makes great cookies as an added bonus?

You truly don't need to specify believe me.

That family hide behind their condition, assume it makes the rules different for them. I assure you it does not

How about you don't turn another post into a bitchfest about my family, you don't assume we're all one person and you don't refer to what we are as our "condition". We're not like you.

No, you're not, you're worse. You can't die, so no matter the horrors your brother is more than capable of perpetuating he can never be brought to account and yet they're supposed to just accept it as a fact of life here.

Its a big ask.

Yet it's strange how I don't see people rushing to condemn you for everything you did, and yet as soon as Nik expresses irritation for something, he gets hated for it.

He didn't actually do anything wrong, so what exactly should he be held to account for? Being annoyed by the cold?

Well, your other brother didn't help matters bragging about just how dangerous baiting Klaus can be and how its best to not argue. They have every bloody right to argue, you're not a superior species any more than I am. You're cursed, yours is clearly just not as clearly defined.

No, this time he didn't. But people will tire of the displays of arrogance soon enough. Just bear that in mind in your families dealings with the wider world.

He wasn't bragging, he was warning. You see a cranky bear in the woods, do you poke it or leave it alone? You don't get to pass judgment on my family. We didn't choose to be what we are, but we are not cursed for it.

Is that a threat?

If you wander into its teritory it probably kills you. That's why humanity tend to avoid wild animals. Of course bears work on instinct alone, vampires are blessed with the same intellect as humanity and if they claim to remain humane then should not lash out.

What would be the point in threatening the unkillable? No one can harm any of you, must be nice to know whatever your brother does he's essentially untouchable.

Your point being what? That he doesn't have the same intellect as humanity? I'm sorry, I fail to see why it matters what he is. Im assuming he's more intelligent than our hypothetical bear?

You're hypocrites all of you. And I had hoped you were different but it seems you hide behind your immortality as an excuse for the attitude your brother displays

Intelligence and instincts are two different things, I would have thought you would have known that.

How are we hypocrites? I put my family above all else, I've never claimed otherwise. I ended up in the Cage because I was saving my brother. I don't always agree with him, in fact I rarely agree with him, but I understand him and I'll do whatever it takes to protect him.

Hi, Nathan. My husband and I just purchased the place, with help from the community. I'm thinking construction should be done by the end of this week. If you want to help move furnishings and appliances in, we certainly won't turn down the help. We cut a lot of costs by doing a lot of the manual labor ourselves.

Nate, then.

We had a really wonderful Complex not long ago. It was a welcoming place, most anyone was allowed, no matter your finances. We provided medical care, a community kitchen, a bit of everything. And no one ever paid a cent to stay there.

I'd like to see that brought back.
