I just got cut off at Starbucks. I don't think that's legal, is it? It's not like coffee is alcohol or something, right? Legally, if I want to try a venti size of every seasonal beverage Starbucks offers in one afternoon I should be able to do that. In fact, I should be applauded for stimulating the economy (because they charge insane prices for that coffee, honestly, I bet I could make...well maybe I couldn't make my own Pumpkin Spice Latte but I bet someone else could make their own Pumpkin Spice Latte if they had some syrup or whatever it is they use, it can't be that hard) and also for the sheer efficiency I have displayed since then. Do you know how much dust was under Kon's bookshelf? A lot of dust. Hey Kon, I cleaned under your bookshelf so you wouldn't have to turn eighteen and enter adulthood with a dusty under-shelf. You're welcome. I also cleaned my entire apartment and did my homework for the week and wrote an email to an environmental group in New York detailing the best way in which to redirect the disrupted migration patterns of tropical birds post-hurricane.

Also I got into college today which is nice. Now I need something else to do. Maybe I'll try to make more coffee, maybe I will try to make food to go with it! Today is my day to conquer cooking at last, I can feel it.

Friends/Family/Kon
I got into the regular track at KU. I got wait listed for the honors college. Apparently my essay, extra-curriculars, and recommendation letters were impressive but my GPA was slightly subpar and they were "troubled by [my] attendance gaps." So now I just have to wait to see if someone gives up their spot to go somewhere else, because if they do I get in. So I just need to distract myself from things I can't control until this resolves itself. Hey, Aunt Jaina, you should teach me to drive!

It is indeed! Also salted caramel coffee. I cannot recommend either flavor highly enough.

I remember the pumpkin flavored drinks from last year, but I will make sure to try the salted caramel coffee tomorrow.

Right, because that is how normal people think of getting into college. In a congratulatory way. Normal people do not beat themselves up for not getting into honors college.

...I may be having a little bit of a freakout. Sitting here with a knife and half a pound of oregano. I was going to make pasta. But I think this is too much oregano.

I know, I know, I promised after the time with your curtains and the grease fire. It's just, I was standing in the kitchen holding my wait list letter and thinking about how I spent all those years telling everyone I wanted to make my own future and complaining about how I'd never get a chance and then here I am, surprise future, surprise chance to be my own person and...what if I'm just...kind of mediocre? What if I just don't do anything?

So I was thinking about that and then I was standing here with a knife and weird herbs and is my stove supposed to smell like gas, Kon?

YES KON. BECAUSE I WAS GOING TO BREAK OUT SOME CANDLES AND HOLD A SEANCE IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS. AS I DO. IS CARBON MONOXIDE EVEN WHAT COMES OUT OF STOVES? YOU SHOULD GOOGLE THIS WHILE I OPEN A WINDOW.

ALSO IT'S NOT LIKE I REALIZED WHAT WAS HAPPENING AT FIRST. I WAS BUSY WITH EMOTIONS.

If you want more coffee, I've got plenty over here, already. It's probably safer if you don't try to If you decide you don't feel like making any, I mean. Or we could always go have words with Starbucks. You're a paying customer, they shouldn't cut you off without a legitimate reason.

That's still great, Allana. There's not really anything you could do about the absences and the GPA - this place doesn't really do well with keeping regular schedules, sometimes.

Is that a good idea?
...probably not. But

I guess I can do that. It'd be good for you to know how.

Really? You hardly ever want us around any more. I mean we hardly even train and I could come over there. Where your coffee is.

Yeah, that's what I said! I mean, rearranging all their displays into more visually appealing formation when I got hyper isn't a valid reason, right?

Yeah. It's just I wanted to This is kind of my chance to do my own thing and I

Thank you! I should definitely know how, especially since I am otherwise reliant on the flying boyfriend and he might want to, you know, have a life outside of chauffeuring me.

Not really. I mean, if they needed to be fixed, it's not like you weren't being helpful. If they didn't need fixing or you were making them worse, maybe, if they'd already asked you to stop a couple times, first.

No, maybe you shouldn't...I mean I mostly trust you not to be, uh, evil about this, but I've been thinking about this and...maybe it is fair. No one made me become a Jedi. No one would really object if I did what most of the other teenagers here do and just lived my life and went to school. I chose to make being a Jedi my priority rather than making school my priority. Every action has consequences and life isn't always fair and all of that. So I guess I just have to accept their decision based on what I was able to do, especially considering that's about the level of effort I'll be able to put in during college.

I'm an all right pilot, nothing like Aunt Jaina though. But I really blame her for that because whenever I asked her to teach me that thing she does with the fighter-flipping and grazing space debris upside down she just said Grandma would kill her.

Its very mature of you to think like that. But you have to consider you started late. Years later than the others of your age and if you had had their schooling I have no doubt you'd be in the honours classes. I am more than aware life can be unfair, but you are bright and hard working and I'd hate to see you lose that chance because a seal dragged you to this world.

Jaina is never allowed teach you that. In any galaxy. I want that noted for the future.

I am not boring. I am sensible. Besides I'm a pretty good pilot myself. Just not crazy. I didn't inherit the Solo side there. Me, I like being quoted odds. Odds are helpful tactically and make it less likely you die.
