Scott & Stiles; Not sleeping, also worrying
Early hours of Thursday, Septmeber 11, 2014; Casa de Beacon Hills
TBD; In progress

Not that Scott could sleep.

Chris being Seal-delivered back home had sent the entire Beacon Hills house into a bit of a tailspin. Allison was upset, not just for losing her dad to the whims of the Seal, but to know that he was being sent back to a place where he was so alone. She was more worried about how he would handle that than how she would handle her own loss, here. In the end, the four teens decided to drink, or at least Allison decided to drink. Scott didn't bother asking Lydia where she procured the alcohol, it was probably better not to know. She and Scott stayed sober, Lydia to be the responsible one and Scott admittedly, mostly because he wanted to properly be there for Allison, but also slightly because it would take way more than what they had for him to even get drunk in the first place.

Eventually, the quartet had found their way back to the house and gone their separate ways. Allison hadn't gone to sleep as immediately as Scott might have hoped she would. And for awhile, it was a restless, fitful sort of sleep. But eventually, she calmed down and she was sound asleep. Not that Scott could sleep. Oh, no, Chris being sent back had just thrown him several steps back and he was too worried about the dreams that would come. Knowing what he was sent back to, knowing what he lost, even if Chris wouldn't remember having her again, it was a lot for him. And the progress he'd made seemed to crumble in those seconds when he'd realized that Chris had been sent home.

So, he kissed Allison on the forehead and headed downstairs to find something to do in lieu of sleep.

Stiles sat in the dark front room, leaning back on the couch and staring up at the ceiling. He wasn't drunk, but he wasn't entirely sober, either. He was in that in between state where he was tired, but not tired enough to actually sleep, and mostly he was trying unsuccessfully not to think.

Chris had been sent back. Like always, it was sudden, unexpected, and traumatic. He was going back to nothing. Except near-death at the hands of Peter Hale and his own sister.

He wondered if the fallout from everything that was going to happen when he was possessed would ever actually end. It wouldn't, probably, unless he managed to find some way to stop it all from happening at all. But he'd spent so much time researching -- both at work and at home at night alone in his room -- and he was coming up with nothing but dead ends and he was just starting to feel...numb.

He heard footsteps coming down the stairs and rolled his head to look, chest tightening when he saw Scott. He pushed himself off the couch, proud of himself for a fleeting moment for not wobbling. "How's she doing?"

"She's...asleep," he answered honestly, mumbling softly as he rubbed the back of his neck. He dropped down onto the couch. "So, you can't sleep either?"

Scott wasn't sure what to do right now. Allison had so many things she worried about, and none of it was even related to herself. That was why Scott had stuck so close to her, why he was making sure someone was watching out for her. Because he knew she wouldn't be the one to do it.

He shook his head, even though he hadn't actually tried yet. He kind of figured sleep wasn't going to happen tonight for any of them, but he was glad he was wrong. Allison needed the rest. And so did Scott.

He dropped back down on the sofa beside his best friend and looked at him sideways. "This sucks."

Scott turned slightly to face Stiles, nodding a bit, "Tell me about it," he mumbled, running a hand over his face. Everything about this situation was stressful, from basically every angle he looked at it.

"I just...I hate how upset she is. And not even about losing her dad, you know, that's not even the part she's worried about." He bit his thumb, one of those tiny little idiosyncratic habits he had that tended to show up in moments of stress. "And I have no idea how to help her... I mean, I'm trying, you know? But...what do you do, you know?" It was one hundred percent, completely and entirely out of their control and they all knew it.

"She's worried about the fact that he's alone back home." It wasn't a question. He laid his head back against the couch, staring blankly at the wall. He knew that Chris was still alive at least, from watching the show with Lydia.

But doing well? That was another story all together. He wasn't doing well. None of them were, really, for various reasons, even if the show's creator was only choosing to show bits and pieces of how unwell they were all doing. Watching it felt like watching The Twilight Zone. And not in the fun way.

Scott nodded silently in response to Stiles' comment. There was no question, that was exactly what she was so worried about and there was literally nothing they could do for her about it. It was just a fact, back home. They were all still reeling from losing her, Chris more than anyone but they were all affected one way or another.

He let out a sigh and raked his hands through his hair, "I don't know what to do." he mumbled, not exactly speaking to Stiles directly, just a rhetorical statement that didn't actually require a response, but was there to receive one anyway. "I can't sleep," his attention turned back to his best friend on the couch next to him now. "I don't really want to." he admitted. With Chris gonw, everything he'd been trying to push through since he'd gotten back to Lawrence was just at the front of his mind all over again.
