Who: Henrik and Klaus Mikaelson
What: Holiday chats in NOLA
Where: The balcony of their suite
When: Today, late morning
Rating: TBD
Status: In progress.

It was strange, being here. Being in a city that he knew as his but knowing it wasn't. Someone else had planned the things he'd planned. Built the things he'd had built. But he could still show them, His youngest brother and the woman he loved beyond all others. He could show them this city, explain what he'd done, and show them the beauty of the place. Henrik even now was looking out over the city. Listening to a jazz musician playing down the street.

Klaus really didn't want to push things too early with Henrik. But the truth was he needed to know the whole story. Possibly without some of the gorier details, but why exactly he'd walked away from his family. Why he didn't want them in his life and why they had their issues with him. He needed to know why Klaus was so worried that Henrik would leave him, why he worried about Stefan and Katherine being around him so much. All of it. And Caroline had left the suite already to go and take advantage of the day spa the hotel had included in the deal for the suite. It was the best time to do this really.

And so with a resolution in his mind he didn't really feel, he followed the boy onto the balcony and gazed out over the city for a moment before leaning against the rail and turning to his brother.

"Can we talk about some things? I expect you have an idea of what" he said simply. It was going to be messy, the boy would probably be angry at him, but hopefully he'd see why exactly he was so protective of him.

It was enough that Klaus would try not to blame himself though Henrik had a feeling that would be a very hard task to accomplish. Especially if he’d been blaming himself for the last thousand years. That was a lot of guilt to carry around. He didn’t really understand how any of his siblings carried around anything for that long or survived that long. He couldn’t really comprehend fifty years let alone one thousand of them.

“I’ll be careful.” As careful as a ten year old could be. At least he did have magic on his side and he could use a bow and arrow, though he didn’t really carry those around with him when he went anywhere. “I promise.” The last thing Henrik wanted was for his family to worry about him or deal with his death again. Not yet. Not until he’d lived a really long and happy life.

“But maybe that’ll be good for Davina and Marcel to live together if they see each other as family.” He knew Davina didn’t like Klaus so he could understand why she wasn’t currently staying with them.

“Can I do school?” He’d seen a number of commercials for back to school sales on the television and he knew from the few shows he had watched that it was something kids his age did. He kind of wanted to try it out but wasn’t really sure if he could yet or not considering he didn’t really know anything about it.

He'd better be careful. And his siblings had better keep him safe. They were selfish too of course, just hopefully not when it came to Henrik. "I know it seems like I'm worrying unduly but you have to understand I just want to protect you. I'll never stop you seeing the others, I just...I need to know they're capable of protecting you too."

It probably would be good for Davina and Marcel. And to be fair, he deserved something good given what it seemed he had been through in New Orleans. Maybe Davina was that for him. Klaus wondered just what she had done to make him hate her so, but honestly, just being a witch of the quarter would do it.

It was unsuprising really that Henrik wanted to attend school. It was a normal activity for boys his age. Of course there were some issues.

"School. Well that depends on some things, there's a lot of the history and things of this world you don't know, you'd need to know mathmatics, various things. What I'll do is talk to some people back home who know about such things. There are tests you have to pass, some about things you've never heard of. So if not regular school just yet we can certainly get you lessons, maybe enough that you can go next year or whenever they say you are ready. Does that seem fair to you?"

Henrik didn’t particularly think Klaus was worrying too much. He was fully aware of what happened to him if he should ever return home and he knew that his siblings had all lived with his death for centuries. All of them just wanted him to be safe and happy. So Henrik understood his brother’s worry that he wouldn’t be safe enough. He just trusted their other siblings more than Klaus did at the moment. He thought he’d be perfectly safe with any of them.

He listened to Klaus speak about the schooling options though and perked up considerably. “I like that plan. I would like to do lessons so that I can attend school eventually. I know I do not know what others my age know but I know things that they do not know too.” And there were some things that he just didn’t see being all that important. Like most of the programs on the television. He still did not see why it was deemed amusing by most people aside from the few things he’d watch on it.

“I will work very hard to learn everything they teach me. And I can keep doing things at Ms. Rose’s center?” Because that way he could still interact with other kids his age and that’s all he really wanted. He loved his family but he wanted to be around others as well. “I think I might try one of their sports. I like the ball kicking one…” What was it called again? “I do not know if I should call it soccer or football.”

It was better that he didn't go to school just yet. He could get the tutors he needed. Learn what he needed to learn. He would find someone that would be willing to teach him and then maybe next year he could attend proper school if that was what he wanted. Henrik seemed alright with the idea of lessons so Klaus would make that happen for him.

"I know you'll work hard. You are an incredibly smart boy, you always were. Its just that there are different things you need to know here. And yes, as you say, you know things they do not. But if you want to attend the same school as those at the center then you'll need to know what your tutors will teach you. But I imagine it won't take you long to be ready."

Klaus smiled at the mention of Rose's center. Did Henrik really worry that would be taken away from him.

"Of course you can. You'll have your classes but I hope those will be at the same time as school is. And yes you can continue to do things at the center. You should spend time with people of your age. And try the sports. I think because you're closer to Europe than America you should call it football but most there will call it soccer. Because they're very strange. There's a ball and you use your foot. It seems simple to me. What they call football involves hands."
