Where: In town somewhere
When: Sunday night, November 24, 2013

He could feel Daine's magic flaring clear from the university. Her wild magic was like a beacon; if Ozorne had had her in one of his magic-proofed cells, it clearly hadn't been enough to hold her. Numair had to hurry if he wished to catch up, because he could already physically see and hear the havoc she was wreaking at the palace. He was practically flying through the streets between there and the university, and then...

No. No, this couldn't be. He wasn't here a split second ago. Cold wind bit right through the light linen desert clothing he was wearing. The street before him was strange, smooth black pavement that was nothing like the flagstone paths of Carthak. The buildings too were unrecognizable, not at all Carthaki, nor like those found in Tortall, or anywhere else. Most noticeable of all was the fact that he no longer could he feel Daine's magic singing out to him. Desperate for some sort of sign, he flung his senses open wide, taking in all the magics nearby. There were all different kinds of magic of some kind all around, nothing like any he'd felt before. Nowhere could he sense the coppery fire of his student's magic that he'd been tuning into to track her down.

Moreover, this entire world just felt wrong; there was no Gift here, the feel of the Realm itself was off-kilter. He'd known Carthaki mages had been tampering with the barrier between the mortal realms and the Divine Realms, but this... to transport him so swiftly and so seamlessly would take a vastly powerful sorcerer... or a god.

Numair started down the street, hoping to find someone who might be able to direct him to a mage of this strange realm. Just because he couldn't sense Daine didn't mean she wasn't here. He hadn't been able to sense her in Carthak until only a short time ago, cut-off as she was by Ozorne's cells. If she was here, he had to find her, because he was not leaving without his student again. Someone familiar with the strange magics he could sense here might be able to help him. He could only pray they'd be friendly.

Tara had actually had to go out and run some errends, as they were a little low on food where she was staying at the moment and she had volunteered to go out and get some more. If worse came to worse, she knew how to defend herself with magic. Offensive magic wasn't her specialty, but, when you were in an apocalypse, you got good with it fast or bad things happened to you.

She felt someone nearby before she actually saw him. It wasn't exactly rare for her to feel someone with strong magical powers around here, but the strength of it washed over her quickly and caused her to stop in her tracks. It didn't feel malicious, though, which made her wonder if there was a new arrival or just someone performing strong magic.

It didn't take her long to find just whom the magical energies were coming from. She didn't usually go out of her way to approach people, but this was a different circumstance, especially when she saw the confusion. "Hi," she managed to peep out when she got close enough. "Are you lost?" Seemed as good of a way as any to start a conversation.

Numair paused at the soft voice and turned his attention to the girl. She looked human enough, and he could sense magic of some kind swirling through her aura. He glanced around at the strange setting again, still wary, keeping his senses open. She didn't seem like an enemy, but that didn't mean she couldn't be dangerous, or that some other danger wasn't lurking about. Outwardly you wouldn't be able to tell how on guard he was; Numair was good at masking that sort of thing.

He gave a friendly smile, hoping to show her that he meant her no harm. "Hello. I supposed I am, a bit." He said politely. If she was a mage of this world, perhaps she might know how he could get back to Carthak. Or at least she might be able to direct him to a mage or library that would have the knowledge he needed. "Would you happen to know where we are, at the moment?"

Tara could, in theory, be dangerous. She had enough magical ability to be dangerous, anyway. However, Tara never willingly harmed more than a fly, or even a fly, really! She would defend herself and those that she loved, but she certainly never sought out violence in any way, shape, or form. She just found such a thing distasteful.

She smiled back at him. At least the question wasn't strange to her. It was something that pretty much everyone here that got drawn in asked. "You're in a town called Lawrence, Kansas. I'm guessing that's not where you started out your night though, huh?" she asked. He really had 'new arrival' written all over him, but she was pretty sure she had been the same way. At least she had come here knowing how to use a computer. Not everyone did.
