Lauren & Mitchell
Arriving in Lawrence post-death
Tuesday evening, October 8, 2013; an alley/the streets of Lawrence
TBD/In progress

"You brought me into this world, I want you to take me out of it."

"You brought me into this world, I want you to take me out of it."

She'd saved the lot of them. And now she just wanted him to save her too. But he was arguing. Of course he was. It's what they did every time they were ever around each other, wasn't it? But this. This was different. They didn't have time and she couldn't handle herself anymore. Could stand the thought of losing it, losing herself to what he'd turned her into. And she'd tried. She'd tried to stay away from the blood, for him, for herself, but it just didn't work. She was just too weak and the call of the blood too strong and she fell. She fell to it every time.

"Lauren, please don't make me do it." Mitchell was begging, begging her not to make him, but he had to. If anyone did it, it had to be hi.

"You have to. The me I used to be, she's almost gone, soon all that's gonna be left is her."

More arguing, but then. Then he did it. And she could feel the stake slip through her like a knife. It hurt. Oh, God, it hurt but it was over. The monster she'd become was finally gone.

Until it wasn't.

Lauren woke up what felt like mere minutes later, on the street in alley much as the one she'd died in, but it was different. She scrambled to her feet, looking wildly around, trying to gain some ground, get some kind of berrings about her surroundings. "Mitchell?" she called out, futile attempt really. He'd have been long gone by now.

She darted down the alley, out onto the street, bumping into some random passerby. "Sorry." she muttered, hardly even casting a glance in their direction.

She frowned as he pulled out a phone she'd definitely not seen before, but really what did that say. That didn't mean anything. Did it? Her face faltered, just slightly, just enough to show there was maybe a little doubt mixed in, but what he was saying. It was crazy, it couldn't be true.

"You've got to be. This isn't possible. Other worlds, Mitchell? I know we're vampires and all, but come on, we're not a science fiction film! We're not bloody Doctor Who, here!" That, though. That caught her attention. Even if everything he was saying was crazy, calling that man simple in that way... "What do you mean? Things? What things? What could be worse than Herrick?" Because really, in her opinion, there wasn't much that was worse than the vampires she'd been dumped off to.

"Actually there are people from Doctor Who," Mitchell's first reaction, mildly muttered probably wasn't the most helpful, but really was the first thing that came to his head. Not that he'd spoken to the Who lot, but he knew they were there, and he'd even watched an episode or two of the show, back in the old days.

"And have you ever known me to be a bloody science fiction fan? Not the kind of shit I'd make up, Lauren." He rolled his eyes, he couldn't help it. Still, he sighed, feeling suddenly weary.

"The Devil. Simply put." Agitated, he ran his hands over his hair, trying to figure out how to say it. "We've also been thrown into the middle of the fucking Apocalypse. Lucifer trying to destroy the world."

"Oh, shut up." She rolled her eyes at that comment. There was no way she was having any of this. It just wasn't possible. It couldn't be. How could it? Magic? She was pretty sure that was just bloody ridiculous. It had to be something else. Or one of them was mental. That was still on her list of acceptable answers. Particularly if it was Mitchell.

"Fine. Point. But still!" she tossed the cigarette she'd stolen from him to the ground when she was finished with it, putting it out with the toe of her shoe, watching him. He was so...frazzled. It didn't make her feel any better.

She didn't say anything for a long moment, staring at him, studying him really. So maybe they had been a really terribly wrecked sort of fling, but she did know him at least a little. Enough to know when he wasn't joking anymore. Lauren's face fell as what he'd said actually processed. "What do you mean?" was all she could dumbly manage to get out, though.
