Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:buffy summers, cordelia chase

Who:Buffy Summers and Cordelia Chase
What:Meetings and coffees.
When:After the awkward discovery of surprise!fictional.
Where:A random starbucks or something
Warnings:TBA?

The last few days felt like a whirlwind. So much information, she could almost feel her brain leaking out of her ears. Coffee was much needed. Not to mention upon discovering the complex had a library-she'd actually willingly camped out in it and begun Apocalypse research. As if everything else wasn't weird enough, Buffy became willing research girl. Books were very typically not her friend. However, Giles wasn't there to fill in the question marks. Neither was Willow. She could do this. Right? Even if the person she was meeting at the Starbucks was Cordelia Chase, she could handle whatever the world could throw at her. She was the slayer. That was her job. This world was no different from home in that aspect, scary things needed stopping. Buffy would do.

But there were some scary things she couldn't stop. The fact that Cordelia Chase was being nice was one of them. So she investigated. Cordy said she was three years ahead of her. Buffy was curious what could have changed in three years to change her personality so drastically. The Cordelia she remembered was not always the nicest person. Labeling her as a snob would have been putting it nicely.

Buffy had left early so she could pick herself up a few things she desperately needed. She had her own apartment now, so she needed things for it. Not to mention clothes. There were a couple different bags of clothing from trendy stores near by that she'd raided and found some decently cute things from, but the shopping in Kansas was only mediocre. She had barely tapped what was on the gift card thanks to Lawrence discount stores. Whether that was a good or a bad thing, time would only tell. She ordered herself a frappichino and waited.

She had a feeling there would be problems whether or not the coffee disappeared again, but she didn't say so. Yet anyway. There were enough other things they needed to talk about for the time being. She still wasn't quite sure how she'd been elected to have this conversation with Buffy, even if it made more sense than the others from home doing it. She didn't know Dawn, barely knew Anya, and still thought Spike was evil. She wasn't sure what was going on with Wesley, but she doubted Buffy would be anymore thrilled to see the former-watcher than she probably was seeing Cordelia, considering the time that she was coming from.

"Well, I don't...exactly know how to tell you this, so I'm just gonna say it. We're fictional here." There really was no easy way to break that kind of news. "This Biblical Seal pulls people from universes that people who are from here think are just made up stories." She paused. "So, there's Clark Kent aka Superman. And a bunch of people from Star Wars. And yeah. We're like that here, too." She'd give Buffy a minute to digest that because she knew it was a lot take in right at first.

She picked up her latte and took a drink.

Buffy wasn't even aware Wesley existed in this world just yet, but hearing the news from him would probably have sucked just about as much as figuring it out on her own by surfing the internet. Which was never a thing she thought she'd be interested. Especially not after Willow's creepy internet boyfriend that was actually a robot incident. She'd been turned off of things that were tech related since then, and even now she was wary. But it was more than obvious times were changing, so maybe not all computers had robots using them. She hoped anyway.

"Superman.." She raised a blond eyebrow at Cordelia. Xander would be in comic geek heaven to meet Superman. Honestly Buffy wasn't sure whether to laugh or continue staring skeptically-so she chose the later and let her Frappichino melt a little more. "..We're fictional? So that means what? Everyone knows about everything I've ever done?" A sense of sudden panic, but she was in a public place. She wouldn't have a melt down in a public place.

She understood the skepticism. She'd been pretty skeptical at first too. It sounded crazy, and Cordelia was pretty well acquainted with crazy. "I know. Sounds insane." Both Superman being there and them being fictional. She sat forward in her chair a little, grimacing at Buffy's question.

"Not everyone? Only people who watched the shows. And not just you. I mean, we're all on it. You, me, Angel, Xander, Willow, Wesley..." She almost mentioned Fred and Gunn, but it wasn't like Buffy knew who they were so she decided not to add to the confusion at this point. "But don't worry. Nearly all of us here who are from other places are fictional here so no one really does the whole judging thing." She took another drink. Fortunately for her, considering some of the things that were ahead in her future that she was absolutely not going to think about right now.

"Totally insane." She actually agreed with Cordy that something was insane. But the fact of the matter was, maybe Spike had a point. "But when has my life ever been normal?" Even when she was young pre-activation strange things happened. Like her cousin and the monster at the hospital. That wasn't something she really spoke about, but a few times since she'd arrived it'd crossed her mind. If there were things like demons and monsters, what about ghosts and vampires? Were the things in this world as bad as the things in her world when they decided to go bump in the night? Buffy was both intrigued and worried.

"Awkward.." She said still, unable to help it. "Have you watched it..this show?" Everyone was so far ahead of her she wondered if she should watch it. Catch up on all the things she missed so nobody else had to pull her aside for one of these lovely little chats. She was sure Cordy wasn't looking forward to this meeting either. Why put anyone else through it if it could be helped?

The way the future was looking though scared her, she wasn't sure she would be able to watch. Much less interact with those from it very well. Angel was so much further along than she was, and their breakup was still so raw for her. It was hard to process. She was fighting tooth and nail to do so, but it was wearing thin on her. Ontop of that the other her had made a mess of things from the get go. "That's something at least." She really wasn't in the mood for the coffee anymore, sugar high was dashed. She set it down on the table and looked out the window to her right distantly for a moment.

She wasn't wrong. Cordelia knew Buffy's life had been full of craziness, and that it had started before she'd ever come to Sunnydale, California. Of course they were now a long way from Sunnydale, but considering they were facing demons and an apocalypse here, too? In a way things weren't all that different. "Good point," she acknowledged with a slight shrug.

And now Cordelia dropped her gaze to her drink. The shows weren't something she really wanted to talk about, but Buffy deserved an answer, even if no one else knew. "Yeah. I have." She tried to smile but didn't quite manage it. Things ahead weren't great, but at least Buffy made it out alive. And so did her closest friends. Cordelia was actually glad about that. "It's...about par for the course, I guess." She shrugged, sounding nonchalant even if she was about as uncomfortable as she could get.

She nodded at Buffy's comment, watching her stare out the window for a moment. She drew in a breath and let it out slowly. "A lot of stuff is...obviously pretty different here than where we're from. Demons can possess people here and the only way to help them is to perform an exorcism." God she hated Latin. Dead languages were dead for a reason. Why couldn't she just say the stupid thing in English? Why did a demon even care what language was being spoken?

"And then there's...Dawn. And Spike." She hesitated. And one more subject that Cordelia didn't want to mention at all. Buffy's mother.
