So he had to face the cold, hard truth: the vacation he planned on taking after the council meeting was not going to happen. It wasn't as if the place didn't exist, but his reservation and his surfboard certainly did not. On the upside, the rental car was pretty much his now. He didn't think Enterprise was going to be sending their employees across dimensions to retrieve it. The SUV was just a lttle more reliable than his old jeep.

He was pretty sure that his stepfather would have loved this place and the differences in demonology for their world. Even he was interested. The rules of his world had been turned upside down, which had brought up a few good questions. Like could a halfdemon be possessed by one of the Lost-like smoke demons?

"Why me?" He hadn't realized he'd spoken outloud. "Not that the dimensional exchange student thing is all bad but seriously..." He hesitated and started patting down his pockets. "I really hope I didn't forget my wallet."

She shrugged, "One of those batten down the hatches, make do with what you've got kind of things as far as people go, I guess. If you don't have the ones you know, make yourself known to the ones that are here, which is really weird for me."

Another shrug, "And you're welcome. Just don't make me regret it." She added with a stern finger-point, though she was still smiling all the same.

"That I can do. I used to be a bartender - " He hesitated. "Well, kind of am a bartender again here so social is my thing. I used to get really good tips too." He wiped off his mouth and dropped the napkin onto his empty plate. "But if you're in a place and you don't have your peeps, you're right. You have to make new allies."

He extended his hand. "I'll try not to. It was nice meeting you, Shay."

She grinned once more, accepting the handshake, "You too. And y'know, maybe you should invest in a handphone, because then next time you go talking to yourself, at least you don't look totally crazy."

She unfolded smoothly from her seat then, hoisting her board onto her back once more, settling the strap comfortably before giving him a cheery wave on her way out.

"I do." Adam withdrew from the handshake to pull his cellphone out of his pocket, holding it up. "I just don't have anyone to call. That and I forgot about the miming a call so I don't look crazy ploy. I will remember that for next time though." He slid the phone back in his pocket.

Leaning back, he raised a hand to wave good-bye, calling out to her on her way out. "Thanks for the company!"
