Gaia had known that she was a fictional character in this world for some time. She had avoided pursuing further knowledge on the topic for a while after learning of her own death. Such knowledge was difficult for her to handle. In fact, she still really didn't handle it well at all. Knowing she was going to die soon after she returned to her own world was a heavy burden for her to carry. However, she'd put it out of her mind as much as she could. She was one to focus more on the pleasures life had to offer, and this world had many pleasures to offer her. She was not done by any stretch of the imagination. She had Galen and Gannicus, and she more than enjoyed her time with them and the pleasure they all got from each other.
Gannicus. Oh how Gaia truly wished she hadn't seen the episode she'd seen that night. It had been incredibly difficult for her to see what happened, to see what the Roman Republic had been plunged into after her death. A slave rebellion, one that actually caused issue for the Republic. Seeing Gannicus with that other woman, seeing him actually being happy for that brief moment of time had hit Gaia hard. In that moment, she had realized how much she'd come to actually care for Gannicus. Along with that, she'd also realized just how much she cared for Galen, for Regina and for Katherine. They were people she counted as true friends, and so very few ever carried that title with Gaia. Though what had transpired during the episode made Gaia's heart clench. The emotions she felt over watching Gannicus' fate were too much.
Fated to be crucified. Crucified. He did not die on the field of battle nor did he die in the arena he had ruled as a god. He was nailed to a cross and left to die and set as an example to any other slaves that may ever think of defying Rome.
No, that knowledge was too much. To know that Gannicus had found happiness, a reason to fight for and then he died for it, that was too much. Then there had been the credits. She saw herself and Lucretia in them, and that was just the last straw. Having turned it off, Gaia left the house without saying anything or leaving any note. She needed to get away from the house, somewhere where she could collect herself again. She knew Galen would undoubtedly sense her if he was awake, but she didn't exactly want company, at least not from Galen or Gannicus.
Yes she realized it was stupid to roam the city at this hour, but she didn't know where else to go. Pulling her coat around her, Gaia just walked, sticking to the parts of the city she knew were safest. Though she had more than a strong urge to go find a drug dealer to get her hands on some cocaine. It was the only way she felt that she could deal with this situation. But of course, Gaia had a knack for keeping things to herself. There were not many she would confide in, and she was not about to tell Gannicus about any of this. So she was going to just walk until she felt calm enough that she could return home and pretend that things were fine. Or until she got drugs of some sort into her system. The Roman woman certainly had a healthy way of dealing with things that upset her.
