How had it happened once again. Losing her heart to someone so unattainable only this time she hadn't even noticed until it was too late. Eponine had been having such a good time too, She'd been dancing and talking to people. Being social. And she'd been having fun being around Enjolras, joking, dancing and then, she hadn't actually been sure when the moment had changed. The music had slowed, her arms had wrapped around his and for a moment. Just a single moment their lips had touched.

But it was ridiculous. It was the same all over again. A man who couldn't love her. A man who loved someone else. A man who was so beyond her reach it was pointless to even think about it. She couldn't see that look again. The look that said 'friends'. The look that said a girl like her just wasn't what someone like him looked for.

She'd walked, she didn't know for how long or it what direction, or even quite when it had started to rain, ironic as that was and oh so distressingly familiar. She ignored it, barely feeling it at all anymore, she'd just walked trying to sort out the mess that her mind had become after an evening that had started so well. Rose had told her to ask him and she'd done it, without thinking of what it would really mean. Without thinking that it would come to this stupid mixed up mess that would once again end up hurting her. But she'd carry on because that was what she did. What she'd done with Marius and what she'd do now. Keep on pretending that there was a world where she could win. Where her name, her life, her circumstance didn't drag her down. Oh he was kind, her friend. He called her a business woman and said he was proud of her. And she believed he was. But Marius had been her friend too, painful as it was. She had been happy to have him in her life, even if their love was only in her mind. And her feelings, such as they were for Enjolras would remain there. She'd find a place for them.

But for now she walked. Looking out at the strange street lights and finding a little comfort in the different world she'd made her home strange and confusing as she found it.  She wasn't about to go home yet of course. Home would mean he was there. People that had been at the party would be there. There would be questions, things to address. She'd get to have yet another heartbreak where she wasn't good enough for someone she had come to feel more for than she had even noticed until it was too late and she had already fallen and it seemed fallen hard. And how could it have happened there. It had all been so ridiculously public and they'd all know. They'd all look at her and know that she'd made the same mistake twice. But she had time before that was an issue. For now though she needed to sit a while. Think. Put those thoughts away to the place in her head where they were just hers and she could pretend for just a little while that someone like Enjolras could want her.

It would just be for a little while.

Ginger had planned on staying in her apartment after hearing the buzz about the Halloween party that was to happen that night. Steering clear seemed like the best option, given that was the sort of thing that was right up Peter's alley and his new boyfriend would be probably be there, nevermind his friends, some of whom she knew were already less than thrilled with her. Avoiding that hot mess waiting to happen was the best plan she had. Except Felicia had extended an invite and maybe a little socializing was what she needed. She'd managed to throw together an outfit with pieces in Rose's box of outfits for a costume and tried her hand at being social, despite all the reasons she had not to be at the moment.

A good part of Ginger's night was spent with a drink in hand and scoping out Peter's every move. When she saw Andrew, it called for another drink. Or two. She didn't care how drunk she got tonight. But then it happened. He came over and asked her for one last dance and there was no way she could have denied him, even if she wanted to. Between her own clingy beahvior at the moment and the look on his face, there was no denying him this one last thing. The dance was a slow one and the song was a painful one, but somehow she made it through the whole thing. But she didn't stick around long after that. She couldn't do it.

And that brought her to now, walking, drunk and in a skin-baring Princess Jasmine costume, in the rain. She had intended on going back to the complex, but she was still trying to get her bearings around town and she was drunk on top of it, all adding up to one very lost Latina. None of it mattered to Ginger, though. The rain didn't bother her and she couldn't care less about being lost. She'd find her way eventually. Or come across someone who could get her there.

One thing she hadn't expected was to find someone else wandering the rainy streets that night. She looked the fuzziest bit familiar, but Ginger didn't know her from Eve, so she couldn't be certain. "You were at the party, weren't you? What are you doing in the rain?"

The girl looked about as happy as Eponine felt, but was dressed it seemed more for the occasion in a skimpy costume that Eponine could never have warn and felt comfortable in. Her own was scary so they said. That's what Hallow'een was supposed to be here, wasn't it? Scary. But she recognised the girl as one who had been at the party. Drinking quite a lot and watching the patrons, she'd been social, said hello. But neither girl seemed to have been in the mood for a party. Both it seemed had other things on their mind.

"I was. And I'm in the rain because..." Because why, because she could think in the rain, because when it bounced on the pavement she could see a part of her life that was just for her and just inside her head. No, none of that would make sense to the other girl. "I left early. I needed to do some thinking. I was walking back to my inn and it started raining and I just kept walking. Rain like this you get soaked through enough you stop caring. I don't even really feel it anymore."

The girl was new. Eponine knew that much. New and yet known if the party was anything to go by. "Are you staying at the complex. I have an Inn. The complex is pretty far but I could give you a room for the night if you wish it. It might be easier if you want just to sleep before you go back." And face whatever she was running from. Because she was running from something just the same as Eponine was. She could tell.

"My name is Eponine." she said finally, realising she hadn't actually introduced herself. She should probably do that. It was the done thing. Not that she was thinking in any way straight. If she was she'd have asked about Enjolras. How he was? How he'd been after. He'd probably have been thinking of a way to 'let her down simply'. Well he could wait. That could all wait.

Ginger watched her curiously as she paused, searching for the right words to say as to why she was out in the rain. She nodded her agreement with the latter half of the woman's comment about not caring anymore. That, she could relate to. "Yeah, you're right... I'm pretty numb myself right now." Although some of that was contributed by the copious amounts of alcohol she'd had that night, she was pretty sure some of it could be blamed on the rain.

"Yeah, the complex...is it really that far?" Ginger had no clue, she barely even knew where she was, nevermind being in any sort of state to attempt to judge distances. "Maybe I could stay there for a little while...maybe til the rain lets up."

Though Eponine's introduction came with a certain realization of her own forgetfulness, Ginger hadn't even realized the lack of it. "I'm Ginger." she noted in return.

There was a similarity in how the girl spoke that automaticly almost, had made Eponine offer her a place to wait out the rain. She'd been at the party so she was safe and besides which she looked like she'd been drinking so Eponine was hardly going to let her wander unfamiliar streets alone when they were in fact at war given that doing so back home had gotten her killed.

"You'll come back to the Inn then Ginger, even until this dies down. I can make you tea if you'd like. And I'm sure we can find you something to wear. You must be cold with the rain." And of course the very little she seemed to be wearing but that was the night it had become. "The Complex is walkable but it would take time and the rain doesn't look like its dying down. If you really want to though, I'll walk you back there. You are still wearing your amulet aren't you?" It was of course important that she was, even in this kind of situation. Eponine might have been downhearted, depressed even. But she was still going to keep herself and anyone that might cross her path safe.

It would give her something to think about besides how stupid she'd been.

"I know why I left early." she began softly by way of conversation. "But why did you?"

Normally, Ginger would have protested, but at the moment, she didn't see the point. The woman was insistent and what else did she really have to do? Go home and sulk? At least this way, there would be a bit of time with company, even if it was the company of a stranger.

"Sounds like a plan, ma'am." She nodded. Getting somewhere warm and into some dry clothes was probably a really good idea. The last thing Ginger needed was the end up sick on top of everything else going on right now. "Yeah, got it," she said, tracing her finger over the amulet around her neck.

When Eponine asked her about why she left, Ginger frowned. She didn't want to think about why she left. She didn't want to think about Peter. But it was only fair that she give the woman an answer, considering she'd asked the same of her mere minutes ago. "Dealing with an ex and his new...person in his life." she bit her lip, eyes dropping to the ground beneath her feet for a moment. "He wanted one last dance. Seemed like a good idea at the time, but..." her eyes drifted back up to Eponine's face, "I guess I couldn't handle it."
