WHO: Helena G. Wells and Andrea Rojas
WHEN: Tonight.
WHAT: Drinky stuff
STATUS: In Progress!
Ratings: TBD, but it has alcohol so likely PG-13!

Andrea walked into the bar with a little bit of the wills. She felt out of sorts. How did she did this again? Enter the bar, sit by it, find your drinking buddy, buy your drink, or five and then you both can call it a night. Nothing to it! She didn't know why she felt that there was something to it. Andrea remembered how excited she'd been when Helena had invited her (or maybe excited was the wrong word, she needed to remember to bring her pocket thesaurus with her to places - that was kind of it's point). She had been flattered and bewildered and, okay, a little bit excited. It was a testament that no, one's inner fangirl did not die even after spending days being taunted by a professional bully - aka, maldito criminal. Because really now! H.G. Wells! H.G. Wells had invited her for a drink and - Oh Dios Mio, why had she said yes, she was going to make a fool of herself.

That was in part of the wills - the willies, the slight anxiousness - much less because of the H.G. part. Andrea was actually and not unsuccessfully coming to see H.G. Wells as just Helena. It was difficult. It'd be like asking a science lover to simply call Albert Einstein, Al. A man and not this amazing person who invented fantastic things that Andrea really couldn't remember everything on (but at least she knew who he was, try to trick her there facebook. Ha. No way.). She'd read The War of the Worlds more times than she'd seen Star Wars (okay, not put together but still). That should say enough about how much Helena's books meant to her. She'd even read The Food of the Gods and How It Came to Earth. There were just so many reasons to be in awe over this woman. A lot of reasons to have difficulties in separating the woman she was going to meet from the person who had such a strong hand in a genre than Andrea thought basically as the bee's knees. It was difficult but not impossible. Andrea always tried her best to treat people brought by the seal as just that. People and not characters that brought her lots and lots of joy. And while this was Helena G. Wells!!!!!! Andrea had made up her mind. She would succeed.

It helped that Helena was just .... great. One would have thought that Helena being just great would have made things worse, and it did sometimes a little bit! Nevertheless, to put a spin on 'misery loves company', heartache made people relate-able. Talking to Helena, actually opening certain things up to her -- Andrea really needed to start going out enough to make carrying around her pocket thesaurus a habit because great was the word coming to her. Splendorous might work.

So, no, Helena Great Wells wasn't the reason why she momentarily, but very discretely, fidgeted with top of her jean pocket. This situation was. However, she wasn't going to think about that. She did want to be here. She'd concentrate on that as well. She gave Helena a quick little wave, as she navigated her way toward the woman, "Soooo ... what do you recommend?" She surveyed the people around the bar for a moment before turning back toward her drinking buddy with a slightly crooked grin.

Perhaps Helena was assuming too much in Andrea being more familiar with the drinks they had in this day and age, but Andrea at least had the better chance at knowing some of them than she did. As Helena had looked over the various names of the drinks, even reading the descriptions, she had no idea what she even wanted to try. And she didn't exactly want to sit and drink straight vodka or brandy or anything of that sort. Though at least the vodka this time around wouldn't be 100 proof. Or at least that was her hope. If she did consume vodka, she hoped it wouldn't be 100 proof otherwise she would embarrass herself in public, which she didn't exactly want to do. Which was another reason she'd asked Andrea to join her. Having the company, someone to talk to, would hopefully keep her from getting too ridiculous. Helena knew she was an emotional drunk, but hopefully Andrea's presence would help her to keep herself from getting into trouble.

If Andrea was rusty at hanging out at bars, Helena was a freshman at this. She'd never been to a bar before, and she found this one to be both comfortable and strange. She glanced around at the people there, seeing a variety of people there. This kind of socialization was new to her. She would prefer a party or a ball, but balls weren't the social thing any longer, which sort of saddened her. She did enjoy them and getting dressed up for them. She'd dressed for this occasion, namely in a dark blue button up blouse with the top two buttons undone, which left a nice portion of her chest exposed, as well as the amulet that protected her from possession and her locket with Christina's picture in it, and in dark blue skinny jeans that hugged her hips and legs in all the right ways. Not that she was trying to flaunt herself, she just liked the feel of skinny jeans.

Upon hearing the name of the drink Andrea ordered for her, Helena arched a questioning but curious eyebrow at her, a smirk tugging at the corner of her mouth. "With a name like sonic screwdriver I feel as though I should expect a screwdriver to be delivered to me." She chuckled, leaning her elbow on the bar and leaning against it, looking at Andrea, that smirk still firmly set in place on her lips. "Bourbon, very nice choice." Helena didn't drink bourbon often, she preferred sherry, but she did like bourbon when she had the taste for it. For the moment, she was laying off the flirting. She all ready felt it would come in waves once she got a couple drinks into her. At least this time she'd eaten before she'd started drinking, so she wasn't drinking on an empty stomach.

Wouldn't that be the coolest thing?, Andrea thought at Helena's mention of a screwdriver. Well, cool if it were real, cute if it were those little toy ones. Actually, if one were to be perfectly honest if by some weirdness of the universe, bartenders started handing out sonic screwdrivers, rationality would outweigh fangirlish excitement quickly enough. There were somethings people shouldn't play with. "It'd have to be a pretty special one." She answered back, amusedly. "And thanks. Good to know that my choice of drink is keeping the night positive." Her mouth quirked up, the jaunty edge to her tone warming her words and voice. "Here I'd just picked it for the pretty color." There was slightly suppressed chuckle to her tone.

"This is a nice bar." Andrea continued after a few moments, her eyes surveying the scene both a mix of interest and a not entirely conscious action. Her eyes taking in the people having fun but also the structure of people having fun. "Have you been here before?" Curiosity entered her tone when she turned to look at Helena.

And this was precisely why she liked Andrea. When the other woman wasn't being too flustered by her, Andrea was able to give her snarky quips right back. Helena did so enjoy wit like that, and it wasn't every day she found people that could keep up with her wit. She had a few friends here who could, which was a good thing. "So you entirely choose drinks based on color?" Helena queried with an arched eyebrow and a smirk on her lips.

At the question, Helena shook her head. "Not for any great length of time, no. I have been here once or twice before." Glancing around, she smiled. "I like the atmosphere it has here. Though this whole social drinking in this kind of environment is very new to me. Typically I only drink in my own home if I drink at all." She glanced at Andrea, eyeing her momentarily. "Have you been here before?" It was best to keep to neutral topics for now because all bets were off once Helena got alcohol into her. Well, she'd all ready had a glass at hoe before coming here, but she had a feeling it wouldn't take many drinks to keep her open and make things that much more interesting tonight.
