Entry tags:elphaba, merlin

It's a Wizards world, we just live in it!
Characters: Merlin and Elphaba
When: This evening, starting before the Z-spell activates
Location: Her place, the streets, a cafe, and---?
Warnings/Rating: Unknown!
Summary: Merlin sets out to learn more about a fellow magic user, and things take an odd turn.
Status: Closed and ongoing

Merlin flew across the city, humming internally as he banked around toward Elphaba's place. He liked this odd little woman, and she made him smile. She was new and her magic sounded intriguing. So many intriguing people in this city!

Merlin dove as he felt the wind swirl through and past his feathers, using powerful wings to bank around again and enjoying himself as he did so. He thought truly that it might be fun to have this meeting of the minds with other magic users, and to learn of their magics, and of the wielders themselves, and how their worlds related to the magics.

Merlin slid down to the door of the address he had been given and on a lark, he used magic to knock of the door, hovering before it, still in owl form.

Merlin smiled to her. "I will remember that. You are an intriguing woman. And you are intriguing in mind as well." He nodded. She sounded something like him, and yet different.

"No world can be without it entirely, not while life breathes and humanity still thinks. Humanity generates magic, but sometimes their thoughts lock it away." He sighed and nodded, eyes distant for a moment.

"I find, if I can find people like you here, then I shall be comfortable here."

And yet again, Elphaba blushed a bit, smiling a bit shyly. "Thanks. I don't think anyone's ever said that to me before." Not that Elphaba really kept track of compliments people gave her because she'd never felt like she deserved them before. But she was getting better about it now, which was the point, wasn't it?

Looking at Merlin, Elphaba tilted her head a bit. "Their thoughts lock it away? You mean such as when people don't believe in magic? Or are you speaking of something different?" She was curious, thus she felt she needed to ask.

The blush that was still on her cheeks deepened a bit at his words. "Well I can't say that there's anyone else like me, but I do hope you will be comfortable here." She looked up at him, then realized where they were. "Oh. That's the library. For your future reference." She pointed out the building across the street to him.

"Why not? Have they not paid attention?" He smiled to her. He was not trying to flirt, just curious. To him, saying what was true was just that.

He listened and considered her words well. "Both. When people disbelieve magic, they make it a little less, but there is more. When people stop hoping, stop having faith, in something, anything, they stop pushing out the magic into the world. When they do so, magic has a much harder time functioning. It requires a push from other sources, then, and thus is almost nonexistent."

He nodded as they6 walked, and grinned at her. "I feel I will be, milady. Yes indeed."

He grinned wider and peered at the library! "Aha! Thank you. It seems crowded cor this time of evening." He had never seen a place of learning so filled.

It made his blood sing and his cheeks heat and, as it did, he felt a wave of oddness, of warmth fill him. What was that?

Even though Merlin wasn't trying to flirt, Elphaba couldn't help but to redden further, biting her lower lip a bit. "No, I don't think they have. I'm usually to green for most people's tastes." Currently she was inwardly cursing the fact she wasn't green because at least her normal skin color could hide a blush, or at least hide it better than her current skin color did.

As he explained about magic being lost, Elphaba nodded a bit. It made sense, though it wasn't how magic worked in her world. "I actually kind of like that. In that, people create magic, or are magic. In which case anyone could weave magic simply by opening their hearts and minds to believe in it." She smiled. She might've been wrong with such an assumption, but it was a theory she liked. It was at least a better way of seeing it than how Frexspar had viewed it.

"You're welcome! People are always there, no matter what time of day. Sometimes it's quieter in the mornings or early afternoons when most people are at work or in school. I really enjoy it." So many books. Elphaba really was at home with herself within the walls of a library. She loved books and they loved her right back.

Her red cheeks made him grin, but he did sigh. "I do apologize if I embarrass you." He wanted nothing of the sort. He cared about her, more than he had thought he would. More than he now thought he should. But there you go.

"In my world, magic comes from three sources. The Divine, the Devilish, and Humanity. If Humans are open to magic, all other kinds flow easily. If they are not, they are sluggish, more dangerous."

He smiled at her. "The key is truly opening one's heart and banishing doubt. Doubt kills faith, and faith is the source of humanic magic."

"I will remember, and he bounced, then looked at her. His eyes glowed with human and ponderance.

"Thank you, dear lady." He inhaled, and his eyes felt hotter, warmer. As did all of him.

"No no, I'm not embarrassed. I'm just...not used to such compliments." Which she really wasn't. Yes she'd heard them before from Fiyero, and even Galinda had incessantly insisted she was beautiful, but Elphaba still found it a bit strange. She still didn't quite know how to accept such compliments without blushing. "I like it, though. Don't think I'm telling you to stop because I'm not. I like it." And now she was babbling slightly again.

It was fascinating to hear the magic had different sources in Merlin's world. Though she found the magic that came from humans to be most fascinating. After all, that was quite something. "Regardless of any world, people should keep their heart open and banish doubt." It was still something Elphaba herself struggled with at times, but then again, she struggled with a lot of things, she just had a horrible tendency to not say anything in those cases.

Looking at Merlin, Elphaba couldn't help but like that glow in his eyes and she smiled. "You're welcome, Merlin." And right then, she'd forgotten about what other destination they had.

"Ahhh." He smiled though, and grinned at her. "I like telling it to you. You inspire me, you make me want to tell you more of it."

He smirked and danced a jig at her.

"I believe you are right. People should embrace hope and light, and magic and love." His voice soared with passion as he walked with her, and glanced at her warmly.

"You are a guide and a welcome lady, a friend and more, perhaps. I feel... you make me feel rather more."
