For the most part, Amy considered herself to be lucky. Winding up in Lawrence was certainly very unlucky, but various things that had happened since her arrival had worked in her favor. She was lucky that Peter Vincent had shown up. Were it not for him being around, she'd be the odd girl out as far as her views on vampires went. He was also a friend and he brought a great deal of comfort to her life. There was an unlucky twist to the story, though. The plastic people, Autons, had seemingly taken Peter away. Once more Amy's mind was flooded with worry and she couldn't help but visualize all sorts of grisly scenarios that might happen to her only friend from home.
Luckily, Amy didn't have to go through the stress alone. She had another friend in Lawrence - Priestly. He'd been kind enough to allow her to come to his apartment when she'd told him that she needed company. He'd been even kinder to sleep on the couch while she snoozed in his bed.
Amy lay curled up on her side, the blankets pulled up to her chin. The fact that there was someone just in the other room was comfort enough to allow her to doze off into a peaceful slumber, but peaceful slumber was a temporary thing as of late. She hadn't told anyone about it, but just about every night was interrupted by a nightmare. It was, more or less, the same thing every night. Jerry Dandridge. He had come off as being charming, but Amy had seen his true face and now that face wouldn't leave her mind.
There was a blur of events. Blood, fangs, her face distorting into that of a monster... Then she jolted up into a seated position. Amy was gasping, looking at the bedding to find that she'd kicked it all away in her sleep. She did what she always did after a nightmare. She felt her face with her fingertips to make sure it was human. Her tongue traced over her teeth to make sure they were still teeth and not razor sharp fangs. Amy made an effort to slow her breathing and closed her eyes, wanting to calm down.
