Kneeling down by the Granilith Liz inspected the inner-workings with a note pad in hand, writing down different equations. There was something she was missing and she couldn't figure it out. For the last three years, she had been working endlessly on the piece of Alien technology to enhance it and bring it to its full power. It proved to be difficult, as this wasn't like anything she had seen before. Even after studying quantum mechanics, most of it was still a mystery to her. That didn't stop her from trying, of course. She was determined to figure out the puzzle and piece it all together. She had never been one to give up and she wasn't going to start now.
After an hour of working things out in her head and on paper, she pinpointed the problem. Or so she hoped. Setting the pad down, she shifted her position and focused on the area that needed work. It had been ten years since she developed her powers and she had been working endlessly on them to improve and control them. She was at the point now where she could turn them off and on when needed, which was far more advanced than when she was a teenager. Slowly, the pieces of the machine began moving and focusing together with the power of her mind. Who needed a blow torch when you were a human with alien powers? Suddenly, something went wrong and sparks began to fly. As soon as she saw what was happening, she stopped the manipulation process and scooted back. Against a wall now, she watched in confusion as the Granilith powered up and turned on. She didn't understand how that wasn't even happening as the crystal needed to make it work was nowhere near the chamber. Before she knew what was happening, she was sucked into the Granilith and taken to a world unknown.
Seconds later, she was dropped from the sky into the middle of nowhere. Where was she? She wasn't familiar with her surroundings at all. She wasn't in Antar, she knew that much. The area looked nothing like the alien planet that Tess had described years ago when she was still alive. Though still confused about what happened, she felt a little better knowing she was still on Earth. With just the clothes on her back, she began wondering around to try and find some evidence that told her where and when she was.
As she kept on walked to find signs of life and someone that could help her out, she went over the events that led up to her teleportation. She must have fused just the right pieces together to turn it into a time machine. All the years of work had paid off but not in the way she had hoped it would. Would she be able to get back or was she stuck in this unfamiliar place? She was afraid it was the later but she wasn't about to be pessimistic just yet. She had to have proof that going back home wasn't possible at all before she gave up. Only then would she give up hope of seeing her husband again and begin adapting to her new life. Only then.
She soon found her way to a cafe after wondering around and she walked in, directing questions to the first person she saw. Once she had taken a breath, she was directed towards a set of computers where she would supposedly find all the answers. She wasn't sure how the internet was going to help her but she decided to give it a shot. At that point, she really had no other option.
