Who: Jim Moriarty and Emma Swan
What: The Consultant Criminal Arrives
Where: A Lawrence Park
When: Early on the 8th
Rating: TBD (Moriarty so there's violent imagry)
Status: In Progress

So it hadn't worked for her, the one that called herself 'The Woman'. Poor Irene had let the Virgin get to her and now she'd find herself unfortunate enough to fall into some trouble in the middle east. Tragic of course, but he really couldn't do with having a loose end that close to Sherlock. It was a pity, she'd had some promise but he was never too surprised when people turned out disappointing. He'd forgone the shoe threat in favour of just letting her run herself into trouble and making sure his people talked to people who would do the job quick and cleanly. Sherlock would thank him one day, if he didn't kill him first. He'd probably kill him first, seemed to be the way things were going.

Jim lay back on the bed, still dressed in one of the Westwood suits he so loved, sans jacket of course. Contrary to popular belief, monsters did need to sleep. And he always slept well, none of the foolish tossing and turning guilt brought. He slept when he needed to and it had been a long morning and would only get longer, He had a meeting in three hours so there was time to rest. Productive though, the Iceman had sulked more than a little when the whole Bond Air thing had fallen apart. And money had changed hands and people were happy. Score one more for the Consultant Criminal. Oh he was still out there. Sherlock Holmes, he'd escaped by lucky timing. The fact he was still in the world though, it wouldn't do at all. It was with thoughts and methods for killing the great detective on his mind that Jim finally drifted off, he fully expected to be waking up with those same thoughts on his mind. Or at least to the sound of his phone.

He hadn't expected exposure to do it. He was cold and as he opened his eyes it was dark.

Had someone actually managed to...

No that would be ridiculous.

But then where was he? Certainly not London. In fact nowhere familiar at all. For a moment Jim Moriarty was without a plan, and frankly he'd never been more bothered by anything in his life. Reaching for his phone he quickly decided to put that to rights, calling one of his contacts and vowing to barbecue alive whoever had done this to him and make their accomplices watch. And then make them eat them.

When the first ten hadn't answered, the worry properly set in. Something was very wrong here

He caught on quickly. Oh, he was still giving her that look like she'd sprouted a unicorn's horn overnight or something, but he was walking himself through it quite easily, really. She actually felt a little bit badly for him, and coming from Emma, that was impressive.

"If you go back to London, it'll still be there. It's still a city and a huge one at that. But the odds of it being exactly how you remembered aren't very good. And the people you knew won't be there." Well, unless he knew the queen, but she wouldn't remember him, so there. He sounded like he might know the queen, looking as put together as he was.

Sighing, she shrugged her shoulders in a somewhat uncharacteristic move. She didn't like feeling like she didn't know things. "Ever read the Bible, Mr...?" This time it was her turn to prompt him for a name. If she was going to help him, she deserved that much, at least.

People he knew. Now that was a pity. No Holmes. Who on earth would challenge him now? Oh it wouldn't be easy building back up a power base, especially here, he had had contacts in America once and even if they weren't here, there'd be equivalents, a place to start. A way to rebuild. And if he'd come here too maybe the man would follow. Jim was rather amused at the idea of the man following him across dimensions just to stop him. Or, just to attempt to stop him. And then die. He'd probably just kill him if there was no one around Holmes he could make suffer. "I think I'd rather figure this all out first. Figure out just where am I and who got me here, so if you could be a doll and explain any of that, I'd be grateful."

The bible. Oh now there was a question.

"I have, Raised Catholic and my folks were fond of passages from the thing." he reminisced. Oh and they had been, maybe if the boy found god he wouldn't be as 'troubled', maybe he wouldn't hurt things. Maybe, just maybe, he'd be good for once in his life. Turn it all around.

He hadn't of course. But he remembered the passages.

Oh and the woman had asked his name. He should probably fill her in on that, new world, apparently literally and in the States what was an Irish name like Moriarty outside of English and Irish Criminal Circles.

"Moriarty." he said simply, he'd give up his first name if he needed to. Right now he didn't need to.

Raised Catholic didn't mean much to her. She was in one foster home that had been Catholic, but they made her memorize Bible verses as opposed to actually reading it for herself. By the time she'd ended up in the incredibly Methodist home, she'd been twelve and only skimmed it when asked to read. How was she supposed to know that almost twenty years later she'd be living it?

Crossing her arms in front of her, not so much as protection but as a reminder to keep herself guarded, Emma tilted her head to watch his reaction. "Well, Mr. Moriarty, you've walked right into the thick of it. Revelations, the seals of hell tearing open and you being exposed. Lucifer's out and about and walking around like he owns the place. Angels should be stopping him but I think they're content to sit back and watch till we screw it all up."

His name sparked nothing in her because Emma had never been an Arthur Conan Doyle kind of girl. If she read, it was much more modern, like John Grisham and Dean Koontz. So she didn't even comment on it, rather kept an eye out around her in case one of those demons decided to show up. She really should sign up for some of those demon protection classes. A gun, she could wield. An exorcism? Not so much. It was Emma's nature to watch her surroundings, both as a member of criminal law enforcement, and as a kid who'd taken a whole lot of bullying.

"So, yeah. You're not the first. I found myself here pretty much the same way. Just dressed more warmly."

He blinked. At least twice and briefly considered if laughing would rather give the game away. Or at least put her off. Leave him no closer to information. It was clear of course that the woman was mad. Lucifer and Angels and Revelations all of it was utter nonsense. Obviously. He'd not landed in the Apocalypse, that made no sense and more than that he was a little insulted she thought he was stupid enough to buy the line.

The Apocalypse.

"It's a lot to believe of the bat I suppose you know that. Do you have anything by way of proof Miss Swan." he asked. It was only fair to ask for proof really.

That and if she was lying to him, he knew about six different ways to kill her weaponless and using her own hair. And oh she was watching him, studying him. He hoped the mixture of surprise and bemused conversation covered his thoughts. ...What'd he mean hoped? He'd fooled Sherlock Holmes with just a fake accent and a different style of dress.

"We had the winter from...pardon the phrase, hell, last year, this years been rather mild by comparison, that and I was inside, lying down for an hour or so and hardly planning to wake up in another country. It's hardly normal now is it. And loathe as I am to ask for help. I might just need it, I can't get through to any of my friends and if you're right about the different reality thing I'm fairly sure I won't be able to access any of my bank accounts. So really where does that leave me?"

"I wasn't faulting your style of dress," Emma corrected, still watching him with a keen eye. Oh, she wasn't quite as wily as the great Jim Moriarty. But she wasn't some prissy little princess, either. The part of her that still greatly distrusted everyone and every thing led her to run through her list of defenses. It was early, so the streets were relatively empty, but she, at least, wasn't weaponless. And for a reason.

"I'm afraid without running into a demon and showing you the lovely way they react when you use the latin phrase 'Christo', I've got nothing in the way of proof. But I don't have a spare demon handy." Oh, look who was being clever. In saying it out loud, she'd just verified she wasn't talking to a demon all along. Always a bonus. So if the guy was a murderer or just mean in general, he was, at the very least, human. It didn't mean she wasn't comforted by the weight of the revolver on her hip, hidden by the folds of the sweater. Regardless. Just in case.

His innocent face and gentle questions wouldn't earn him her trust, but she wasn't going to leave him stranded, either. "There's a social network online where all of us who got stuck here sort of gather. All of them will back me on this, I assure you. So if I'm crazy, we all are. Or we're all in a giant cult, which you're welcome to believe if you want."

Emma gave a little sigh, considering him once more. She supposed he was harmless enough. The guy had come from a nap for god's sake, he probably wasn't loaded with explosives or even firearms. What harm could it do? "There's an apartment complex set up for the displaced. Our kind. It's free to stay in, since most of us ended up here with barely a dime, and they keep the community kitchen well stocked."

There. See? Helpful.

He didn't react to her use of the Latin, either the obvious way he didn't know yet or either to her little trick of using it at all. She'd been testing him and he'd passed. But there was no sense letting on just how smart he was about this sort of thing. No no, play the role that suited, and right now he was doing just that. It verified to Jim that Emma really did believe the whole thing about demons. She wouldn't have thrown out the Latin if she didn't. That was something at least. Just a hint of information but more than he'd had earlier.

"Right, so I can ask online as well, that's something. Maybe I can find if there's anyone at all I know. Do you think that's likely Miss Swan." he asked her, fishing a little, though he was sure if Sherlock or the dull solider life partner wannabe he had living with him showed up then they'd have warned the populace just in case. And she hadn't reacted to his name.

Complex, there was an apartment complex set up for the so called displaced. Well it would do to be getting on with. Until he could figure this place out. What there was by way of crime, who he needed to displace, who he needed to hurt and who he could get to do that hurting for him. The lack of money bothered him immensely but he could work that out later. There was so much more to be getting on with beforehand. And who knew, even if they were all a giant cult, he was sure he could find a way to use that.

"You're very kind Miss Swan, maybe could you point me in the direction of the place and tell me what I need to do to get set up in this city? Since as you say there's no point going back to London if there's not a soul there that knows me." Not yet at least.

Emma gave a simple shrug to his question. How should she know if there was anyone he'd know? "It's possible, but I wouldn't say likely? Some people run into people they know here. Some of them, like me, don't know anyone." Which was fine by her. The fewer people who knew her and her past, the better. "Don't rule it out, though, the seal thing grabs people at random, looks like."

Very kind. Well. Those were words rarely used to describe her. Except by Ruby, occasionally, and she usually put it more as "bitchin' nice". And Henry. But, well, he had a misplaced sense of hero worship. Which was still taking some getting used to. Oh, how quickly the mighty could fall, and she was so scared she would.

She only hesitated for a moment, though. The case wasn't going anywhere. Churches on Sundays were busy places, it wasn't like the employees were going anywhere for a while. Sometimes they were there all day. Which was a little weird. "Yeah, well, tell you what, follow me. It's only a couple of blocks away." Easy enough, right? "You'll need one of those necklaces to prevent demon possession, cause yeah, that's a real enough thing around here." Though she hadn't seen it yet. Weird. "And you'll probably want to look into getting some identification. Since, you know, here you don't actually exist."

Well there was that. Maybe this seal thing would bring Sherlock here. He couldn't deny he sort of wanted that to happen. He'd had such plans for the detective and now without those he'd have to figure out what to do. He'd need to rebuild. That was what she was telling him, no money. No contacts. He'd have to start again in this ridiculous place. But he'd done it once he could do it again. It wouldn't take him long.

And finally she offered to lead him to the complex where she said everyone found their feet having gotten dropped into the world. It was irritating, it was an inconvenience. And he didn't understand how, and that was probably the worst thing out of the lot.

"And how would I go about that? Preventing demon possession. Getting an ID, is that all normal for newcomers. Does it happen that easily?"

Illegality but he wasn't surprised, pulled across worlds he fully expected people would do what they had to to survive. He liked that, made them prime targets if it came to it. For now though, loathe as he was to say it, he needed them. He needed to understand this place before he made his next move. He was a patient man but it was annoying all the same.

"There's classes and things. And people who live around here who know a hell of a lot more about it than I do. There's people who can get you identification, too. Pretty passable, too, I'd say." Had to be. If it weren't for all those fake documents, she wouldn't have a job. And she needed to keep busy or else she'd just dwell and that didn't look good on anyone. "So basically what I'm saying is, all you have to do is ask."

Emma felt kind of bad for the guy, but hey, he wasn't the first and he wouldn't be the last dropped here. He'd survive. And he seemed smart, asking all the right questions. Maybe too smart. He'd be one to watch, that much was certain. "We're all kind of in this together, I guess. I mean, no one expects it, right? But we're here anyway. So we help out where we can. The kitchen's well stocked so you can actually eat till you're on your feet. The place is secure enough and like I said, we can get you one of those amulet things that'll prevent demons or whatever."

She gave a shrug, nodding towards a building a few blocks away. "That's it. Looks normal enough. We try and blend in, the normal people here, the non-seal-brought-in-ones, most of them have no idea."
