WHO: Tyler Simms (and OTA if anyone wants to jump in; otherwise just a narrative!)
WHAT: Tyler being Tyler until he suddenly arrives in Lawrence.
WHEN: Evening of September 11. DATE HAS CHANGED TO ACCOMMODATE KITTY AND AVOID NATE-PSYCHICNESS.
WHERE: Outskirts of town.
RATING: PG-13 because he drops the F-bomb.

The wet towel was wound up and then cracked like a whip against Tyler's bare thigh with a loud crack! The blue-eyed witch gave a rather embarrassingly girly yelp as he jumped from the stinging slap and spun around to glare at his now laughing (and positively nude; not that Tyler was all that surprised - Reid never did understand human decency) blond friend.

"Ow!" Tyler snapped, feeling his face go red. "Fucker."

He rubbed at his thigh, but it wasn't really from pain. He was used to being towel whipped by an overly bored roommate almost everyday after swim practice. The fact that meets were closing in and fast probably only fueled the blond's need to harass his friend even more, and all Tyler really did in response was roll his eyes. For a second, as he watched Reid's retreating back, he thought about Using just to send him stumbling forward and possibly (probably) falling flat on his face, but decided against it. A lecture from Caleb really wasn't worth it. Even if it would make him feel a little better.

Turning back to his gym locker, he moved to open it (having to reset the combination before undoing the lock thanks to Reid's rude interruption) and pulled out his clothes so that he could change out of his swim trunks. He could hear the other boys around him, heading into the showers, most of them mentioning something about heading to Nicky's tonight. Once or twice he glanced up as he changed to see if Reid or Caleb had jumped into the conversation, wondering if they had any plans to head there. He knew Reid probably did and didn't exactly need any sort of backing to know that, but things were usually a lot better when Caleb or Pogue were hanging close by as well. Reid wasn't exactly known for making friends at the billiards table.

And, okay, so maybe he wasn't the greatest either.

He smiled a bit to himself as he pulled his shirt on over his head, thinking about how he and Reid had managed to hustle nearly $120 out of Aaron three nights ago. But they wouldn't be doing any tag-teaming tonight. He scowled as he thought of the huge math test he had tomorrow. Reid probably wasn't even giving it a second thought, and Pogue was excused thanks to the great excuse of being in the hospital, and Caleb was - Well, he was Caleb, and had probably been prepared for it since he was five years old. He quietly mourned the loss of junk food and the sugar high he would have most definitely had if he was heading out that way tonight as well, and mentally prepared himself for the argument that he knew would probably spring up later.

No, Reid, he practiced in his head as he packed away his gear and stuffed it back into his locker, you cannot borrow my car. Hitch a ride with Pogue. He saddled his backpack strap on his shoulder. I don't care that you'll look like a little bitch riding shotgun with Pogue on his bike. You're just going to have to deal or not go. I might need my car. Mentally, he could already hear Reid whining about what for?? I don't know. But I might.

He blinked.

Even in my head, my arguments sound lame, he thought with a sigh as he headed out of the locker room. Only to promptly stop, frozen, as he stared in front of him.

"Oh shit," he breathed, spinning on his heel to try to figure out where the hell he was. The doorway he had just exited wasn't even there anymore. "Where the hell am I?"

At her laugh, he brought his hand up to his face, trying to hide away from her. God, he felt like a total dork. Why did he always have to have such trouble talking to girls one-on-one? And this wasn't even in a romantic sense! Not that she wasn't pretty, or his type, or any of that - because that would be a bold-faced lie - but the others were always so much smoother in situations like this. Caleb would just smile and charm his way out of the situation, Pogue would his roguish good looks, and Reid would just talk so much shit that they would forget what the hell was going on in the first place. Him? He wasn't even sure what he would do. Except this. Fumble over every word that seemed to want to come out of his mouth.

"I know that. I just, uh," he stopped himself, not even sure what he wanted to say. He just, what? Wanted to try to seem even more innocent than his already guilty demeanor and face suggested otherwise? Yeah, right. That wouldn't seem strange at all. Hell, he was pretty sure that he was developing his own definition of strange right about now. He cleared his throat, just going a little more red when she mocked him about the "cool" comment. Yeah, he was sure he looked cool. Muchly. Right.

But then she continued, and he couldn't help but turn to look at her, a confused look on his face. Was she pulling his leg? She certainly didn't seem like the type, but if not, then what the hell was she going on about? He swallowed. "You mean, you were somewhere else, another state or whatever, and suddenly wound up here? Just like that?" he asked, just to clarify. "Because, uh... If so... then maybe I do, sorta, maybe, kinda... need your help."

Smooth, Tyler. Very smooth.

Kitty couldn't help it, this was all a little bit surreal. She'd been in the same position as him not so very long ago. Not just that, but she had been much more angry than him, and far less confused. She had no idea what was going through his head, she didn't really want to know. Kitty had n ever really envied the empaths, to be quite honest. She knew a person that needed help when she saw it, though. This guy wasn't anywhere near as fine as he was pretending that he was. He was fumbling, he wasn't sure of himself at all, and he just seemed to be tripping over his self. It was cute, by all accounts, but they were signs that something was going on too.

Kitty didn't say anything to the boy as he stopped himself mid-sentence. There was nothing she needed to say, really. She had been talking to him and he hadn't really realized that. Maybe he had recognized that she'd been talking to him and it had shocked him. Either way she didn't need to say anything to his cut off comment, it wouldn't help anything. And maybe he was cool, popularity wise. He was nowhere near cool in his demeanor at the moment, though. Kitty stood there, patiently, though. She wasn't going anywhere, she was kind of a sucker for the whole helping people thing.

She was glad that she had continued and said what she had. If she hadn't he might have just continued to wander off. Getting lost here didn't seem like a very good thing. As he spoke again Kitty nodded. "That's exactly what I mean, as that's exactly what happened to me." Kitty thought about the way that she had Lockheed had arrived here in Lawrence. The poor little dragon was stuck back in the apartment, only because dragons didn't exist everywhere. Kitty didn't want to draw too much attention. "You're in luck. Helping is what I do. For starters, there's a little more to it than just being in Kansas." Kitty stated and paused just to make sure it sunk in.

"We've been transported to a whole different world, or universe." Kitty knew it sounded pretty far fetched, but if he needed some sort of proof or didn't believe her, she figured she'd find a way to make him believe her.
