Who: Anna and Dawn
What: Musings
Where: A cafe in Lawrence
When: Afternoon of the 9th
Rating: Low
Status: In Progress

Anna had been finding places to go that she hadn't been blocked off from. As it turned out the people here didn't have a lot of trust for angels. Which was of course fine. Neither did she. She would tell them each and every time she could that they were right to distrust the angels. Even their precious Castiel. Mostly him in fact. She'd wound up finding a small cafe, a really beautiful place that served chai tea just the way she liked it. And so she sat, watching the humans, blending in, always blending in like she liked. She didn't want them to fear her, not all of them anyway. Ones like Ava and that...whatever it was she lived with that had threatened to eat her. They should fear her.

She sipped at the chai looking at the Starbucks across the road and comparing her little shop to the bigger chain. That was the war in its simplest form wasn't it. The humans, scattered angels and their demon against a seemingly unbeatable foe. Lucifer, his loyalists and things like the Horsemen. It was going to be a hard fight. It was going to take a lot out of them but all that aside it had to be done didn't it.

Her brother could not be allowed to destroy these people. He could be as jealous as he liked, as bitter as he ever was but he would not be allowed to win this war. Besides the humans were amazing. Nicer in oh so many ways than the angels. And if she could help them surrvive this onslaught then that was what she would do. Its what she'd always wanted to do, her time in heaven had just given her a bitter focus to get it done. People like Zachariah had to be stopped too. War on all sides, she hoped the people were ready.

It was strange, how life had settled into a weird routine for her. Dawn's time was divided between hanging out with her sister, Vi, and Xander (and Willow before the seal had sent her back), dance classes with Cissie, and learning how to fight from Spike. When Dean was around, she had gun lessons from him, too, to supplement the rest. Thanks to the wishing bauble thing, Dawn had plenty of money to buy whatever she wanted, and had put a huge chunk of it aside so that she could get her own place as soon as she was eighteen - if she was still in Lawrence. As much as she loved Buffy, Dan just wasn't sure if she could handle staying in the complex any longer. Some of the people who had come into there annoyed her a lot, there were people from her own world who didn't even talk to her any longer, and to be honest...she was tired of trying to help people who didn't want her help.

All this was going through her mind as she walked slowly down the street, on the way back to the complex from her dance class. She had opted out of joining Cissie on the walk tonight, mainly because she just needed some alone time to think. She wasn't stupid - she was armed. Under her jacket tucked into the back of her jeans was her gun, as Dean had taught her to hide it. The brass knuckles Spike had given her were in her left jacket pocket, in her right was a stake, and in the right pocket of her jeans was a silver dagger. She figured she was ready for almost anything, coupled with the bottle of holy water and jar of salt that were tucked into the outside pocket of the gym bag slung over one shoulder. She had changed into jeans, tennis shoes, a dark blue lightweight sweater, and her jacket, and had left her hair in a bun simply for ease.

She was thirsty, so she headed for a small cafe that she enjoyed. Sure, Dawn liked Starbucks - and she was also pretty well off ever since her wish for money, on Christmas eve - but she didn't always go there, since sometimes the people weren't the nicest. As she stepped into the cafe', bright blue eyes absently sweeped across the room, studying the patrons. There weren't many, and she didn't immediately recognize any of them, so it didn't take much for her to walk over to an empty table and set her bag down next to a chair, before heading for the counter to place an order.

They all had something about them. She'd felt it when she'd found Ava upon her arrival. All those touched by the power of the seal. A slight taint of hell on their...she supposed the closest word she had was aura, but that sounded stupid. Their presence. And the girl placing an order, she had it. She wasn't native to their world, on some level Anna could tell she wasn't even native to her own. She waited until the girl had ordered and smiled, beckoning her across to sit with a few simple words. "You're from the Complex?" It was a simple sounding kind of sentence but if she was right, and she was pretty sure she was right, then the girl would answer yes. "You don't have to be wary" she added "My name is Anna, I don't know if you've heard of me on those boards Sam set up." If she was asked about her angelic heritage then she'd answer but she wasn't about to throw it about either.

The girl looked prepared, like she'd been here long enough to know how this world worked, to understand what it was to live here. "How're you doing in this place?" She sat sipping her coffee figuring she could still do that social thing. She'd try anyway. It was different now that she'd cast aside her human life again, she was a different person, felt different.

But at least she had the memories.

"How do you find the complex?" she asked, wondering how one of the displaced felt about being here, given the strife around at the moment. It was a troubling thing, they had better things to worry about that a few powers thrown about. "I hear there'd been trouble over there lately."

Her bright blue eyes had shifted to study the rest of the cafe' absently as she waited for her coffee order to be ready, when she caught sight of the redhead. The hair color made her instantly think of Willow, and for a moment she thought about her friend, and hoped that she was okay back in the world Dawn had come from. She'd come from a time when Willow was in the midst of getting over being evil, and while she knew that she eventually made it through that (the older version of Buffy had confirmed that), she still worried about her. Blinking away the thoughts, she noticed that the woman was beckoning her over, and when she spoke, her head tilted in confusion. Before she could respond, the woman continued, and Dawn finally headed over, grabbing her bag on the way.

"Yeah, I have...you're the..." The seventeen year old hesitated until she had sat, her voice lowering a little, "the angel, right? I thought you looked a little familiar. I'm Dawn." At the question, the brunette hesitated again, then shrugged. "Fine, I guess. Just...surviving, like everyone else." Fine? Hardly. She barely had any friends, especially ones who were her own age, and seemed to have a habit of making people angry at her over stupid things. Dawn was far from fine, but she was nearly at the point where she could ignore all that.

"It's been...a little weird, lately. But this happens every few months, almost every time a big new group of people shows up." Dawn shrugged, setting the bag down beside her feet. "You can practically time it, if you really wanted to."

Anna couldn't resist a smile at the girl as she lowered her voice. It was sensible of course, phrases like 'you're the angel' bandied about would probably lead to questions. But the girl had all sorts of questions in there for Anna, she could tell. And that was fine, humans had every right to question. And the girl was human. But she hadn't always been. That was what she was picking up. Anna sipped at her coffee as she waited for Dawn to take a seat opposite her.

"Yes, the Angel." she confirmed, "One of them at least. I'm still getting used to being back. And, yes surriving. I try to hope you're all doing more than that though, I mean this may not be your world and it may be falling to hell but if it's already just something to surrvive then maybe it means my brother is more likely to win. And if he does, then all this is done isn't it. Gone?" No one wanted that. "Weird how?" she asked finally, wondering why everyone was always arguing. Maybe it was just the nature of the place, maybe it was what they called cabin fever. Who knew.

She should do the knocking heads thing.

"Its such a pity. I mean, you're all in this thing aren't you? I would have thought that would have been enough." she said sadly, offering Dawn a little bit of her cookie as a...well, she supposed it was the start of an attempt at friendship. Maybe it would be a start for her. She hadn't had a friend since Dean. If he counted. "Its blueberry" she said with a shrug.
