Who: Nightwing and Red Hood
What: First meet up since Jason arrived.
Where: at the building Jason set on fire.
Warnings: Uh. Probably fighting. They're bats.
Dick was glad Andrew was going to talk to Dawn. With the news blaring in the background on his t.v. he couldn't stick around longer to discuss right and wrong. It wasn't the time for a debate. He needed to get those people out of that burning building and maybe save some lives. He didn't have time to talk down an angsting teenager. He had another to deal with across town. That one was more pressing. Blowing shit up took priority. With the television still on in his apartment and light still illuminating the room Dick finished suiting up. He opened his window on the very top floor and took a graceful swan dive out into the warm night. Everyone was tense. The end of the world breathing down the backs of their neck was making them all a little cranky, Dick wasn't complaining about getting out. Infact he was almost grateful for the distraction. Except it was bittersweet. At the end of his across town journey through rooftops and sky there was Jason Todd, and people trapped in a fire, people potentially already burned alive.
Dick hated fire. He had been very nearly burned alive on many occasions. There were a few notables, but Dick didn't want to think about them as he began to approach downtown and could smell smoke in the air. Jason was blaming him for his death. He died because he was the favorite. He wanted nothing more then to help, but he wasn't so sure he could. He was going to try everything possible before resorting to the locking in a dark place with no windows, or light. He hated seeing Jason like he was on the boards because Dick had known him for a short aount of time where he wasn't so psychopathic. The burning building was finally in Dick's sight after a few long minutes swinging his way across town. Normally being in the air like that put him at ease, but not this time. His mind was on Jason. He was also making a plan to get the victims from the fire.
Dick saw a window of oppertunity-literally. A window was clear of fire toward the south side of the building. Using one of his ropes he swung down toward it and straight through feet first. Glass shattered behind him and he looked around. The smoke was thick above him. It was nearly impossible to breathe in. He had to work fast. Dick didn't have any of Batman's toys to rely on anymore. No reserve oxygen, only the one emergency. He missed those about now. He knew he couldn't stop the fire, it was raging out of control and the building was threatening to collapse. He wasn't superman. He couldn't blow it out with a single breath, but he could get people down and out. Fortunately as he looked out the window hed smashed, most of them were already out and down on the streets with police and fire fighters.
Dick turned away from his window and crouched low, listening for the sounds of people. He began down the hallway. Nobody else was in the building anymore. Fire fighters couldn't get in. Dick was on his own. In the back of his mind he knew Jason had to be there somewhere. But his main concern was getting innocent, still breathing civilians out.
