Who: Cassie Chan and Kendra
What: random encounters of random!
When:Sunday evening
Where: The City
Warnings: tba, but probably none.
It was colder then Cassie expected. She couldn't help but to shiver slightly and fold her arms over her chest, hoping to trap some warm air against her body. Which was strange occurrence number one. She'd just come from the beginning of summer 2010. Strange occurrence number two? She wasn't in Angel Grove anymore. Somehow she landed in Lawrence, Kansas. It was a college town. She remembered her parents mentioning it to her once before they realized their daughter was a power ranger and thought she was going to live a normal life, graduate High School and go away to college. She'd even considered it. Looked at some brochures. But then Astronema nearly destroyed Angel Grove and Earth. Everything changed. Cassie and her teammates were forced to reveal their secret identities. Give up the biggest secret in Power Ranger history. There hadn't been time for a second option. The city was dividing, Rangers or Civilians. The Rangers knew they couldn't let the civilians come to harm, and so they gave their identities up to save Angel Grove and the world.
It came at a price. Angel Grove treated them like heroes, but they became outcasts in their own town at the same time. It was hard to figure out who wanted Cassie Chan, and who wanted the Pink Ranger. It caused Cassie to always be on her guard. Made it difficult to really make friends and get close to anyone beyond an image friendship. Still Angel Grove was always going to be home. Even if it had it's frustrations. Part of her was okay with being in Lawrence as opposed to Angel Grove, and the other was missing home like crazy. She wondered if her friends were alright, her family and her town were safe. She wondered how the rebuilding was coming after the destruction Astronema and her goons had caused. She'd been staying in the complex since she arrived and it was starting to grind at her nerves.
Cassie knew she probably shouldn't be out by herself yet, but she was an adult. She could make her own decisions, and staying in that complex only served to make her feel claustrophobic. She needed fresh air and human contact. She couldn't hide in her room anymore. As nice as it was that she was allowed to stay in it for free, she couldn't stay in it all day and all night anymore. One more minute stuck in it and she was going to scream. And so she went into the city. She walked the sidewalks and looked at the store fronts that were mostly closing down for the night. Why was she there? Zordon always said there was a reason for everything and nothing came because of coincidence. But she wasn't so sure. She missed Zordon and his wisdom even all the weeks after Andros told them that he had to destroy the light being to save the universe. Times like these she felt so lost without his guidance. What she quickly came to realize was that she wasn't only rhetorically lost, she was physically lost. She'd been so lost in thought that she didn't see the wrong side of town coming up on her quickly.
To be fair it wasn't very far from the right side. Cassie snapped from her daze when she felt a pull at her arm. A large man hovered over her from behind. "I'll ask you nicely one time. Please let me go." He sneered with a disgusting curl of his lip. "That's not going to happen. Your in my territory now." His hand squeezed down bruisingly hard on her arm. "Don't say I didn't warn you." She turned and in a swift movement, put his arm into a fierce lock, forcing his knees to give out and dropping him down to the pavement. "Let me go. And I won't break your arm." The man nodded, and Cassie let go of her arm lock hold on him. She began to turn and walk back the way she came, but he rolled and pushed up, grabbing at her ankle and she fell forward. Bracing herself with her hands. "I was trying to be nice. " She glared through wisps of dark hair that fell into her face. The foot he'd mistakenly let go of, went straight up into his face, knocking him backwards, on the concrete, and out.
"Ow.." She winced and looked over her shoulder to make sure her attacker was out, her wrists she'd accidentally fallen on were bruised and skin was slightly torn. "Damnit. Where am I?"
