Who: TEAM RESCUE BUFFY
What: Rescuing Buffy, exorcising demon!Faith
When: Today!
Where: Building Buffy's being held in
Warnings: Violence undoubtedly

TAG POSTING ORDER FOR THE GETTING BUFFY THREAD: Anya, Castiel, Jo, Vi, Kendra (will be amended as others tag in)

TAG POSTING ORDER FOR THE EXORCISM THREAD: Faith, Pike, Spike, Andrea, Sam

It had taken Anya a little while to finally locate Buffy, but when she did, she alerted the people who wanted in on the operation. She was worried about Buffy, more than she really made it known. Buffy was a friend, and even though she was in vengeance demon mode, she would still stand by her friends in times of need. And this was one of them. She really had no idea what demons in this world were really like, but at least she still had her powers to protect her. She did think Buffy was alone at the moment, she hadn't gotten a sense of any souls around her. But she wasn't sure if that meant anything or not. Things did work differently in this world.

After giving the word on where Buffy was, Anya waited for some minutes, pacing back and forth a bit nervously. She had no idea what she would be faced with when she got there, and she knew Buffy would probably be in a fowl mood for them not getting to her earlier. But at least they were coming! When Anya felt she'd waited long enough, she teleported to the building. She appeared outside of it, staying a safe distance away. She glanced around, looking for anyone on the rescue team to see if they'd arrived there yet. Despite promising she wouldn't go in alone, she couldn't help but want to just teleport inside to Buffy and get her out of there quickly. But for once, the brunette managed not to do the stupid thing and actually waited for proper backup and cover.

Castiel was, for once, unsure what he was doing.

That was a l... an untruth. What he was doing was volunteering to help rescue Dean's girlfriend – who, by his understanding, was the de facto leader of the displaced humans - from a demon possessing another of the compound's warriors.

Which, there was little doubt, fell outside of his remit. He was not supposed to interfere, not if it was in anything beyond setting Dean on the right path. Casualties were inevitable. They were not his concern. All this he knew, which made the thing about which he was unsure why he felt compelled to help.

Perhaps this was doubt, or else the undue sympathy he had been chastised for. Perhaps it was the will of God. He preferred to assume the latter; his Father could not hold him in the wrong for doing a good thing, for protecting His favourite creation (his brothers, on the other hand...). He would deal with that debate later.

He appeared (quite literally; as per usual, one moment he was not there and the next the geeky-looking little angel in the trenchcoat had popped out of nowhere) near the building knowing better than to stray too close – the whole 'sensing the enemy' thing working both ways, after all. Alerting the demons was definitely not in the game plan.

Pike was not a happy camper. He was stowing away a large part of his feelings right now, because if he let himself feel them for even a second he'd probably break down. There was fear, which might have surprised anyone that knew Pike from his hunting career back home. Then again, it made a certain sort of sense. Back home, Pike had made certain he had nothing to lose, so that he could take the kind of crazy risks a hunter often needed to take. It wasn't the friends he had now that created the fear, though. His fear was that he wouldn't be good enough to get Faith back. Back home, he had no one to be responsible for except himself, but here, he was responsible for Faith. She was his girlfriend, the woman he loved, the woman he had on more than one occasion gone to the wall for. If he failed to get her back, it would destroy him.

There was guilt. Oh boy, legions and legions of guilt. On an intellectual level, he knew the demon had worked some sort of mojo on him to make him see the consecrated cross he'd gotten Faith, along with the standard amulet, on her person. But, like Buffy, he'd also noticed her off behavior and his gut had been twinging at him from day one. But she had a reasonable excuse for that, and he was still seeing what he believed to be firm proof that she wasn't possessed, so he'd shrugged it off. He was disgusted with himself, and after this was over, he planned on researching ways to safeguard against demon mind mojo from here on out.

There was concern for Faith and Buffy. The concern for Faith was obvious. Demons weren't known for taking the most care with hosts, and it was entirely possible that this one had hurt Faith physically as well as the mental scarring that would result. He was also concerned about those mental scars, and could only hope that he could help Faith move past them with time. He was also worried about Buffy, which might have surprised some. They might not have seen eye-to-eye on much since he'd gotten here, but she was still someone he respected, and if it wasn't for his incompetence she wouldn't be in this situation.

There was rage. Oh, there was rage. He might have been doing the mostly-normal life with Faith right now, but he had been a hunter for twelve years back home. Twelve years, and this demon thought it could fuck with his girlfriend unanswered? Fuck no, that was not going to go unanswered. But he was stowing all that. He couldn't afford to have a breakdown right now. Besides, this wasn't about him, this was about Faith and Buffy.

Instead of any one of those emotions, he presented a perfectly calm facade. In fact, he was so calm it was almost scary. If most of these people didn't already know Faith was his girlfriend, they wouldn't have been able to figure it out from the poker face he was effecting. If there was one thing he'd become very good at, it was internalizing everything until he had a more opportune moment to deal with it. On the surface, he looked every bit the experienced hunter he really was.

He hadn't come with much. He may have been given enough weapons to be called a small armory for Christmas, but most of them were of the bladed and, therefore, lethal sort. Lethal force was not an option. This was a rescue mission, and not just for Buffy. IF lethal force was to be used on Faith, it wouldn't be today and it would be his decision, no one else's. He'd taken one of his spare flasks and filled it with Holy Water, and lifted a small container of salt from a local grocery store. He also had the consecrated cross with him, and was wearing his amulet.

He'd met up with Castiel, Jo, and Andrea, though he'd been a little skittish around Castiel. The angel volunteering to help had surprised him more than he'd let on, and when he had a moment after all this was over, it would probably drift back into his mind and make him think. Right now, though, he was just a little awkward. Sure, he recognized it had been stupid of him to mouth off to the other one, but he was still no happier at Zachariah or less awkward around other angels for it.

He mostly kept to himself, affecting an almost glacial cold and aloofness that he didn't actually feel. His usual 'working' behavior was usually only a little looser, but this didn't qualify as normal working conditions. When Castiel had made it clear it was time, Pike had stepped up, with one hand wrapped around the flask of Holy Water in his pocket.

Once they were there, he glanced around to see who else had arrived. Every bone in his body wanted to charge in, but it had been his brain that had kept him alive as a hunter for so long, and it didn't fail him now. "Now we play the waiting game," he mumbled ruefully.

To say Jo had issues with demons was an understatement. And, yes, that was part of the reason why she was totally ready to head out after this demon. And it was the main reason why she didn't call her mother to tell her about it. That would come later.

However, she did know that this was not about her, or her issues-a fact that might surprise Dean and Sam, had they known. This was about a demon who was possessing someone that was known around here and had taken one of the leaders hostage. She had driven her trusty pickup over to the address Castiel had given-and, yeah, she was still dealing with the fact that angels were real, but she wasn't going to think about that right now, either. When she got out of the truck, she brought with her a small messenger bag in which she had a bag of salt, several bottles of holy water, her journal containing the latin exorcism, a few crosses and rosaries. Under her jacket and in a couple of pockets and her boots were multiple knives. In her hands was a shotgun-this one had real shots in it, not salt rounds.

The blond walked over to where the others were, and after a total lack of introductions as everyone arrived, they were all teleported near the building that Buffy was supposedly in. Dark blue eyes scanned the surroundings as she took a few steps away, then glanced over at Castiel. "Can you tell if there are any demons nearby?"

That several of the humans did not trust him was quickly apparent, and not at all unexpected; between Uriel and Zachariah they could not be blamed for it. Had he been in the mood to concede to sympathy he'd have regretted those first impressions more, but that could not be allowed right now – the priority had to be getting the mission done quickly enough for both their purposes and his own desire not to be noticed before he'd got his head straight. The lack of small talk reassured him that the others were on the same page – what Dean might have referred to as 'game faces on', or some such.

His response to the one called Pike was a brief, curt nod – probably entirely unnecessary, the statement, he thought, likely rhetorical (communication was becoming easier, apparently, which should also have been ringing alarm bells); Jo asked if he could sense any demons, and he took a deep breath and tilted his head as if listening for something, frowning slightly (far slighter than a human frown, no doubt; expressions were harder than inflections).

“This place reeks of them.” Castiel concluded after a long moment. “I cannot be more precise. I assume they knew we would be coming. Their wards are... impressive.” - thankfully no Enochian ones here, as he was rapidly becoming sick of being confronted with them. These were masks, layers of dampening - “no doubt to stop someone locating your friend. Sorry.”

On which note... how had this 'Anya' been able to?

Then, shortly after. “There is one outside. She is... different. Not of this world, maybe.” The gesture which accompanied that statement, if one followed it, would have lead straight to the aforementioned mysterious bloodhound - Cas of course merrily oblivious of what Anya was.

Pike wasn't the only one keeping a straight focus. Andrea wasn't focusing on anything beyond exorcising the demon from Faith and Buffy getting out. Worry attempted to make her body and her mind rigid but she refused to let that leak through at the moment or else she would slip up, and neither Faith nor Pike could afford her slipping up in any of this. It, of course, was more easier said than done. Andrea recalled how having a demon inside of her had left Lois. It was a feeling that still left her uneasy and just more than a bit guilty for never noticing. Thinking of what would do to Faith just ... Let's just say if the demon hadn't been in her friend's body, she wouldn't have thought twice about ending it. The fact that she was going to help in sending it back to hell, helped her relax a bit, and filled her with a little bit of satisfaction. Though not by much.

Andrea glanced at the angel when he spoke but she didn't bother really acknowledging him beyond hearing his words ... and being grateful for his help. There would likely never be any trust for his kind but she wasn't so entirely against the entire race that she couldn't appreciate and realize what he was doing, and likely the risk he was putting himself in. It had her suspicious yeah, but it didn't mean she couldn't appreciate it, nevertheless.

Dean and Paige orbed in right after Cas had teleported his little group. It was Paige's iron grip on Dean that kept the anxious, hotheaded, Winchester from removing himself from her hold before the fully materialized from blue and white orbs into corporeal humans. Paige didn't know what would happen if a person tried to pull a way mid-orb. And she didn't want to have to explain to Sam or Buffy why parts of Dean was missing. Or something. She got his urgency but they were going to risk enough, they didn't have to risk it to impatience and mistakes.

Dean really didn't care who of this world was inside the building. He just wanted to know if Buffy was still alive and when they could go in and get her out. "How many demons are in the building?" Because Dean doubted that the Faith!Demon would just leave Buffy without guards to make things difficult for them.

"I told you, I don't know." Cas' tone sharpened slightly, his patience being, regrettably, far from limitless and having to admit that demons had him at a disadvantage leaving him as close to disgruntled as obedient angels could get (... okay, a little closer than that, if he was being honest).

"Whoever is holding your 'Buffy' does not wish us to know what is happening inside this building. There might be hundreds of them. They might all be on whatever passes for a demonic 'coffee break'. If you would like me to check" – he turned his attention from the building, shooting Dean a glance - “I will oblige. That may, however, remove the element of surprise.”

"Hey." Jo's voice was a little sharper than it probably should have been, but she didn't care all that much. "Back off of him. He's worried, okay?" She frowned at Castiel, then turned to Dean. "I'm going to head around back, see if there's a back entrance, or anyone waiting back there for us." She held up her bag to the group at large. "Anyone need holy water?"

If anyone indicated that she did, she handed out a couple of extra sports bottles. After, the blond headed down the street to cut over and come up to the building from behind. She wasn't taking any chances tonight, and personally had no doubt that the building was currently filled with demons.

Although Faith here was years before when Vi knew her, she still felt the same need to help her that she would have the woman she knew. She'd stood beside them in the battle for the Hellmouth, laid her life on the line like the rest of them. She had volunteered to help get Buffy out of that building and away from the demon, and give Pike and Andrea a chance to send that demon right back where it belonged.

She couldn't help but silently fear what condition they would find Buffy in. As more people gathered to form the initial invasion, Vi paced, listening to the voices around her, trying to figure out what they could expect inside, the plans to rescue and exorcise. She tossed a bottle of Holy Water, one of a few she had on her person, from hand to hand.

She was ready to pound on a couple of demons. However many were inside, they'd figure out a way to divert them and get Buffy out. The others would find a way to trap the possessed Faith. She stopped and tucked the bottle in her back pocket before making sure the knives were in their places.

Anya saw the group gathering and she figured they were the rescue party. She made her way over to them and caught the part about wondering how many people were inside. "Hey, I assume you're part of the Buffy Rescue Team?" Her voice was perhaps inappropriately peppy sounding, but that was Anya, she couldn't help it. And at least for now, she was in her human form, not her demon form.

"I don't think there's anyone around Buffy. But I don't know if demons in this world have souls or not, so I could be wrong there. But I don't sense any souls around her. Just her." She looked at everyone that was there so far, easily picking Castiel out as the man in the trenchcoat. "I'm Anya, by the way, for those who don't know." She felt compelled to introduce herself. "So, who else is coming? I think we should get in there before much more time passes in case Buffy is alone so we don't encounter the demons."

Kendra of course came prepared. Weapon and holy water in hand. She was mostly here for Buffy, to be perfectly honest. Since she knew her better and longer, but it would be a lie to say she wasn't worried about Faith. The other woman was a sister slayer and she wanted her to make it out as alright as possible. She suspected if anyone could it would be Faith. Since the other woman was a fighter. Nevertheless, she had heard of the effects of demonic possession could do to a person. As such she was ... concerned. Okay. She was worried. However, Faith's boyfriend seemed to have enlisted a solid team and they didn't need anymore people for the exorcism.

Which was why all of her attention was on getting Buffy out.

Kendra casted a wary look on Anya. Who was not human. Yet she didn't say anything about it. Anya was Buffy's friend and .. well, now wasn't the time to think of her distaste with working with a demon. Short of Lorne, and once in a blue moon Ruby ... and maybe (if one squinted) Spike, Kendra's tolerance for demon was nearing nil. Which actually an improvement on how things used to be before she died. At least it actually wasn't on nil.

Jewel was in a good mood, and Faith's body showed it. There was a huge grin on her lips. She'd just had a really good talk with Lilith, and was pretty much assured of her place next to her when the time came in what would be the New World. A world in which, Lilith promised, demons would walk the world and would never have to hide their natures from humans again.

"Honey, I'm home!" She called out in a singsong voice as she pulled open the sliding door to the warehouse and stepped in. Chocolate eyes moved towards the far wall where she had chained the blond, and she froze when she saw the chains were empty. This was not good.

The smile disappeared as she drew one of Faith's knives and stepped the rest of the way in, but left the door open behind her. She scanned the room to see who may or may not have been there, when her gaze landed on Pike, Faith's precious boyfriend. This could be nearly as interesting as torturing Buffy-except for the fact that Pike was worthless to her.

"Just what makes you decide you can walk in here and take away my toy?" Her voice was still accented with Boston roots, but the grammar and word choice were absolutely not Faith. Jewel had hated having to talk like an ignorant little child, and was glad to be herself again. She slowly advanced on Pike, while her eyes flickered towards the floor, checking for traps.

The rescue had gone off without a hitch. That was good. Buffy hadn't really looked anything near good when they'd found her, and Pike's guilt had magnified by about a thousand. He'd promised himself when he'd seen her strung up on that wall, barely conscious and in varying states of injured, that the next time she told him someone - anyone - was acting off, he'd make with the holy water splashing immediately.

After Buffy had been freed, Pike quickly hashed out his plan for the exorcism with everyone. He wanted the extraction team to know it in case things got hairy and some of them needed to be recalled, but all they needed was the basic gist. He didn't mention that he knew he would probably need a doctor after this. That would be evident to anyone with eyes when it was all over, anyway.

In the end, the exorcism team was himself, Andrea, Spike, Castiel, and Sam. On the whole, Pike was pretty pleased with this. He trusted Andrea and Sam, and as vampires went Spike was actually pretty okay. And Castiel had been helpful so far, so Pike was willing to extend his trust a little farther. Once the extraction team had left, Pike quickly hashed out the more detailed version of his plan with the rest of the team.

It was pretty simple, as plans went. They would hide until the demon came in. He'd play lovesick-lone-gunslinger and keep it distracted while they kicked into gear and got a trap drawn up. He hadn't told the extraction team the part about the human bait, or why specifically a doctor was going to be necessary. Wouldn't be hard for whichever doctor showed up to tell, if he got even half as trashed as he was figuring he was going to. After the trap was drawn, they'd get the demon in there and make with the exorcism.

Until then, there would be a lot of waiting. At least, that's what Pike thought, but the demon arrived sooner than he'd expected. Oh well. The others were already hidden. He hadn't had as much time to come up with some stupid lovesick crap script in his head, but that was okay, he could wing it. "Lucy, you got some 'splainin' to do," he joked, wagging a finger at her comically.

His sarcasm-rich mirth faded. Cue the lovesick puppy routine. "Faith, I know you're in there. I know you can still hear me. I'm gonna get that thing out of you, baby, you hear me? It's gonna be okay now." His face hardened and he pulled his hand from his jacket, popping the cap on the flask of holy water. He immediately started the Latin, knowing the demon could and would stop him. That was the point. Keep her focused on him so the others could get the trap drawn.

Once the beating commenced, he'd put up a token fight, throw in some cliche pleading lines about knowing Faith was strong enough to take control back, and when it got really bad throw in a few 'it's okay, i'll always love you no matter what' lines. Catch was, it was all technically the truth, but he knew possession didn't really work like that.

Jewel/Faith rolled her eyes, scoffing as she noted the flask and having no doubt what it was. "Oh please. At least try to be subtle with this!" Ink slid into her eyes as she concentrated on the flask, sending it careening across the room with her mind. She then ran at the man, gripping his throat and pinning him to the wall behind him. With demon and slayer strength, Jewel was more powerful than ever before-and she loved it.

"For the record, Faith isn't here right now. And she's not going to be here every again. But don't worry, you'll be joining her soon enough." It didn't hurt to make him think that Faith was already dead. After all, demons excelled in lies and the like. She gripped the knife in her hand and drew it back, on the verge of stabbing him.

Then, something seemed to change in her eyes. Yes, it was part of the demon's plan-she loved mindgames. Her eyes cleared and filled with confusion and pain, and it seemed as though Faith spoke instead of Jewel. "...Pike?" The knife slipped from her fingers, clattering to the ground, as she let go of him and staggered back, a gasping sob escaping from her. "Wh...what's happening..?"

This was always Jewel's favorite part.

Wasn't the first time he'd had inhumanly strong fingers around his throat. Didn't make the fear any less tangible, but it made it easier for him to deal with. He knew that to keep up the act, he couldn't let the fear show. He was supposed to be trusting that Faith was still in there and that she could take back control, and showing fear would have shot a big hole in that routine. Besides, he didn't want Faith to have the memory of his face twisted in fear like that.

So he just smirked at the demon instead. "Demons lie." It was all he had time for before the knife went up, and a second later everything seemed to change. Her eyes cleared and it seemed as if Faith was suddenly back. Pike had to keep himself from rolling his eyes. God, she was trying this routine? Did she think he was special needs? This was almost insulting. The demon was underestimating him, which was exactly what he wanted.

Which meant he had to pretend he really was that dumb. That was okay. Playing dumb was something he did a lot more than people thought. "Faith?" He reached up to rub at his throat with one hand and cautiously approached her. He reached out one hand, giving the appearance that he was trying to reach for her shoulder to steady her. "I knew you could do it. Just keep that thing down for a second and it'll be all over, okay?" He knew what would likely be coming, and he wished a pummeling from an inhumanly strong opponent wasn't as common a thing for him as it was.

"I...I can't." She whispered it as she trembled. "You'll have to...to kill me.." Faith trailed off as she reached for his hand, sliding her own knife into it. Within seconds, she had pulled him close so that the knife was about to plunge into her own chest, her hand on top of his on the hilt. The eyes had reverted back to tar, while the demon again reached for his throat.

"That's the only way you'll get her back, lover boy." A lie, of course, but she didn't care. Instead, Jewel merely smirked and-if he refused to plunge the knife in, reversed it and slid it into his side.

"Or you can go ahead and join her now. Up to you, really." Okay, not so much. But like she had thought earlier, he really wasn't worth her time.

Aw, fuck it all. The fish boy was down. The trap was mostly put together by now, what with that giant Winchester there scribbling his half onto the floor like he was writing his own name down, so Spike was more focused on keeping an eye on things between Faith and Pike. Well, not Faith. That thing that was inside of Faith, prancing around in her body like it was wearing the hottest bit of fashion released to date. It disgusted Spike, watching how these demons worked. A real, respectable monster had their own body. Like Spike. He was a one hundred percent, in the flesh, walking dead version of himself and he wouldn't have had it any other way. He was just too damn gorgeous. Nothing else would have worked for him. Unlike these bloody demons, hopping in and out of bodies without any trouble at all. Disgusting. Scowling, Spike peered back into the room that contained the others and gestured for the angel - ha - to follow him. "Man down, you fucking harpy," Spike hissed, turning away from the wallspace he'd been crouched by. Leather jacket swinging behind him, Spike quickly ducked into the next room and held his hands out in front of himself, almost defensively. "Didn't mean to intrude on the lovers quarrel, but we need him back in one piece. Why don't you come over here and try tappin' this ass instead?" He tilted his head back slightly, gesturing for the demon to come at him.

Spike might've been the guy running around with the care-free attitude, so to those who didn't know him it was probably a big shock when he declared that he was coming along for the fight. The truth of it was, he still loved Buffy. He always would; kind of like how Angel was always sulking and all that about her. It was bullshit, but he couldn't have left Buffy here to die no matter how appealing the idea of being able to rid himself of all that concern and care was. Fighting to get her out, then to make sure that Faith did too (because, quite frankly, she was all right herself), had been easy for him to decide on. He was in. He was here. And he was going to save some people and have fun. That's right - fun. Because if there was a day of the week where Spike didn't end up fucking someone up or getting fucked up himself, it was indeed a sad one. He liked the feel of a good tussle, the way that someone's face felt as his fists collided with their skin. And the blood. He couldn't drink human blood anymore, but he'd be damned if he didn't admit that it smelled good.

Not that he wanted to get a whiff of Faith's blood. A little too much Slayer blood in the air would drive him mad.

"C'mon, bitch. Let's you and me have a go." He spread his arms out, openly inviting her in for the first shot. Might not have been a smart move since the demons had that mind throwing thingy of theirs to play with, but no matter what approach the demon went with this, the most important thing was that she got distracted from Pike. He was human. He couldn't handle being stabbed like that. Spike would have known - he'd stabbed people like Pike to death plenty of times himself in the past.

Despite all the cutting she'd done on the Summers woman over the past 48 hours, give or take, Jewel never failed to smile at the sight of human blood flowing free, thanks to her. When she heard the other voice coming from behind, she dropped Pike like a sack of potatoes, turning to face the newer guy. "Well, you people are just crawling out of the woodwork, aren't you?" She rolled her eyes, then smirked.

"What makes you think that I really want to 'have a go' with a vampire? You're even less than a human, Spike." The name was tugged from Faith's memories, along with what little the Slayer knew about her. She still had the bloody knife in her hand, and with the aid of her hosts' talents and her own power, she sent the blade flying through the air towards the vampire, aiming for his chest.

"Fighting you honestly isn't worth the two seconds it would take."

Well, now Pike would have matching scars! He'd been stabbed in the side by one of this world's demons back during the kryptonite debacle, and while the placement wasn't an exact parallel, it was close enough. When she'd stabbed him, it hadn't taken a whole lot of acting to fall back in pain, clutching the wound. Even a terrible actor could've sold this one. It was easy because hey, stab wounds hurt like a motherfucker.

Thing was, he wasn't out. Down with a big gaping hole in his side, but not out. This wasn't the first time he'd been stabbed like this or received a bad injury, and he'd long since learned how to blunt the worst edge of pain and keep functioning. It wasn't healthy by any means and rapidly decreased the chances of survival, but when had he ever done the smart thing?

Though one hand was holding a bunched up section of his shirt against the wound to halt blood flow, he still had one free. The demon may have robbed him of his holy water, but that wasn't the only weapon he had here. He dipped his free hand into his pocket and retrieved the consecrated cross, wrapping the chain securely around his hand tight enough that even she wouldn't be able to claw it off easily, leaving the cross itself dangling in his palm. The demon wasn't paying attention to him, so he had a chance to take a deep breath and focus past the worst of the pain. It still hurt, but he wasn't going to pass out yet.

Then, ignoring the painful protests of his side, he surged to his feet, reached his hand around to her front and pressed it hard against her neck. "You dropped this," he snarled, and braced himself as best he could for the inevitable throw that was about to come.

Boy did he hope that trap was done soon.

Spike was quick. The blade curved through the air, smoothly spinning toward the center of his chest. Slayer's had good aim, so Spike didn't doubt that the demon inside Faith was using that to her advantage. All the same, even with the monster preaching on about him being a vampire, she had forgotten something terribly important: Spike was a damn good vampire. Hands reaching out, he caught the knife by the handle just as it's pointed tip began to tear it's way through his chest. The knife throw had been quicker than he had been, but not quick enough. Spike pulled what little of the knife had managed to hit it's mark from his chest without so much as a wince, ignoring the tear in his traditional black t-shirt (hey, at least it wasn't his jacket, then all hell'd break lose). Flipping the knife over in his hand, Spike raised a brow and critically said, "Two seconds? Really? I thought you were 'sposed to be able to read Faith's mind." Spike dropped the knife onto the floor with a clatter. "'Cause right now, you should be terrified."

If not for the fact that he noticed Pike gathering himself behind Faith, Spike would have charged her. He'd have exchanged blows with the demon inside of the Slayer and he would have happily swung it out with the monster until the thing was either slowed up enough or until the thing (more like if, since Spike was a smug mother fucker and refused to think he could be beaten) actually defeated him. Working with Pike would be better suited for him though...so long as the fish didn't get himself killed while playing out of the water for too long. Spike kept on with the distracting, lurching forward at the demon only when Pike had rammed the cross to her neck. Careful to avoid making contact with the cross, Spike grabbed the demon by the waist and looked to Pike, sharply jerking his head to the next room over as he attempted to haul her across.

Maybe he'd throw her if she didn't behave. That'd be kinda funny.

The trap had just finished. Andrea had been part of the team working on the trap and she worked as quickly as she could. Glad that she had made herself go to the extra classes of drawing the damned thing even when she had felt that she had mastered it. Because now they were rushing and she was nervous, and it was very to slip up. She was worried, despite her very best efforts not to be. Nevertheless, she drew the trap easily and from memory. Carefully and never hesitating in her rapidity to get things done and get things over with.

As soon as the trap was finished, she quickly hopped to her feet, brushing her hands on her pants and walked (jogged ... okay, fine sprinted) to were Spike and Pike were. She spotted Spike dragging the demon by the waist, and the stop in her way towards him was a quirk of a brow. "Should jealousy be happening?" She asked, though there was neither a smile on her face or in her tone.

"You know, you could just throw her." Because really. That would make her feel so much better, though she had to immediately remind herself that this was Faith's body and she didn't want her friend having to deal with more physical damage ontop of ... emotional. Which was why Andrea wasn't giving into the need to punch her in the face.

She stepped in front of the demon, just in case it actually managed to wiggle from Spike's grip. She'd grab the bitch by the hair and throw her in herself.

Jewel was not surprised that the vampire managed to grab her dagger, and when he said she should be terrified, she rolled her eyes again. "Please. Even Faith knows you're one of the worst vampires ever. Honestly, sleeping with your mortal enemy?" She tsked softly. "Shame on you." That was when Pike stepped in and pressed the cross to her neck. A shriek escaped her as she tried to reach up and claw his hand away, but her arms were caught then by Spike when he grabbed her around the waist.

"Let me go!" She half shrieked. The demon/Slayer was trying to shrink away from the cross and free herself, even as her inky eyes narrowed in anger. When the woman-Andrea, she was supplied by Faith's memories-stepped into view, she used her power to shove her against a wall and begin to mentally choke her.

"Let me go or the bitch dies!"

Shit like this never happened to the A-Team. They had a crazy plan, the crazy plan miraculously worked, and Pike always liked to think they sat around with a few beers afterward laughing their asses off about how crazy that plan had been. Just once, he wanted to have that kind of luck. His crazy plans always ended with broken bones or wounds leaking way too much blood.

Or somebody getting Vader'd. Pike locked eyes with Spike briefly, tilting his head almost imperceptibly toward the trap. "Lady, don't they play those prequels at the Helleplex? You need two hours of cheesy dialogue before you force choke your best friend!" Without bothering to wait for an answer to his stupid quip, he began spewing out the exorcism. He wasn't actually trying to exorcise it, but he knew that the exorcism could, sometimes, disrupt demon powers. If it worked for even a second and Andrea was released, Spike would be able to take advantage of the opportunity and bodily hurl the demon into the trap, or so Pike hoped.

Luckily, Pike already knew Latin pretty well from back home, for research purposes, and also occasionally freaking out hypereligious people with Latin phrases about Satan. Hey, it had been a dull day stuck in a bus station next to an annoying priest, what else was he supposed to do? And since he'd had nothing to do while on bedrest from the first stabbing but study the exorcism and the diagram of the trap that Ruby and Andrea had sent him, and since he had been practicing it frequently ever since, he didn't really need a book.

He just hoped this worked, because he didn't have a fancy back-up plan. That much, he and the A-Team did have in common: There was never a plan B.

Spike was feeling pretty damned confident about himself; they had the demon in check, the trap was ready, and Pike wasn't lying on the floor in a crumpled, bloody, very dead mess. All was good with the world. At least, all had been good with the world up until the skanky hellbitch decided to pin Andrea up like a pinata at a birthday party. Spike's eyes snapped toward the demon dangerously, every instinct of his telling him to rip her head off in the most literal way possible. Naturally, that'd be a bad thing for Faith. But at least it'd make him feel better and spare Andrea from a death that he wasn't terribly interested in witnessing. Ever. Not because he actually cared about her or anything, but because it'd be a pitiful way to go out. Being choked to death by a demon was uncool. There was no grand, heroic exit. It was just pinned, choked, done. Nothing special. He'd have pitied her. See? Spike didn't care. He was just being realistic. Andrea. The Girl Who Choked and Died. Sad story.

From the other side of Faith's body, Spike was able to hear Pike starting on with the Latin. He knew how the demons got when the exorcisms started because he had seen it happen before. They'd flail around, shout out, and try to get out of the hold of the religious chant as quickly as possible. That was why Spike knew he needed to latch onto the demon tighter, using his strength to shove her around and toward the open door ahead. Using that vampire strength of his to an advantage, Spike hefted Faith up and shoved her into the next room. The trap that they had set up previously was lying in wait there, along with the Winchester giant and the tax accountant with wings. If his throw wasn't good enough to get the demon where it needed to be, then Spike hoped that the two on the other side of that door were ready to up and finish the job for them.

As soon as the body was out of his hands, Spike looked to the wall where Andrea had been thrown. He wasn't worried about her being strangled to death still or anything. He just wanted to make sure that there wasn't a body for him to haul out of here when this was all over with. That was all. Really.

Okay. Going in front of the demon. Bad move. She hadn't been expecting that and she had let her guard down, let emotions cloud her mind, her judgment. Though this really didn't do anything to lessen her need to put her fist in that hell-bitch's face.

Stupid, fucking, telekinesis.

It was likely best to try and save oxygen and not struggle but rationality wasn't the best when you were being mentally choked to death! Though she did keep it to minimum, she tried her hardest to gasp out and not die ... like this. Andrea, luckily, did have faith (no pun intended) in Spike and Pike. She didn't think she was going to die. However, she really wasn't looking forward to a few more seconds of this either.

She would have let out a breath of relief when Pike started the Latin. Rather she gasped in quickly when she felt the hold slip.

She was released entirely when the demon was hurtled into to other room. Andrea managed not to fall into her knees - or flat on her face - by just balancing herself up on a fist, as another hand immediately went to her throat. She took a couple of seconds of gasping breaths before pushing herself up to her feet, propping herself against the wall. Andrea knew that if she tried to walk on her own immediately she'd get dizzy and then she would fall on her face. Nevertheless, there was no time to attempt to regain her breath. She'd do that by the time she reached the other room.

Rather than speaking she shot a thumbs up in the general direction of Spike and Pike, and made her way to the room.

For a moment, Jewel thought it would work. But then she heard Pike start up with the Latin and her body jerked. Another shriek escaped her as she began to renew her fight, struggling against Spike's arms and the cross still pressed against her neck. She squeezed her eyes shut and moved her head to head butt against Pike to get him to shut the hell up, but the movement partially severed the link she had with Andrea.

Before she had a chance to do anything else, her eyes snapped open as she felt the vampire's hold on her shift. Suddenly she was flying through the air. She landed hard on the ground in another room, on her shoulder, dislocating it she was sure as she heard the bone pop. But she didn't care about that right now. Scrambling to her feet, she tried to run at the group, but was met with a wall. Her black gaze shifted downward, and she glared at the symbols. They had made a trap.

She looked up at them all again, still glaring, as she pulled a second knife out of her boot. "Let me out, or Faith really will be dead." She held the point of the dagger against her stomach while smirking.

Pike thought that was it. He had almost let himself feel relief. All that was left at this point was the questioning, which would be brief considering he was going to be there for it and he was slowly bleeding out, and the exorcism itself. Then would come the task of getting Faith checked out by a doctor for any injuries, Pike was especially concerned about any internal damage the demon might have done before this, and then getting her back to the motel so that she could wake up somewhere familiar.

There was also some very vague notion of getting his own injuries looked at, but he was more concerned with Faith. That was the sort of guy he was, he was bleeding out and he was still more worried about other people. It probably said a little more about his psyche than he realized it did. He scooped up his flask of holy water from where it had fallen earlier in the fight before heading into the room, intending to let Sam get started.

And then the demon pulled a knife.

Son of a bitch! Vacation. When she was feeling up to it, Pike was going to grab Faith and take her to the Caribbean. Although he supposed it would be their luck to run into some voodoo bullshit down there, or a haunted hotel or something. He squeezed his eyes shut for a second, knowing what he had to do and mentally preparing himself for the potential consequences.

Then he whipped the holy water flask out in a sweeping motion, taking care to watch his aim so Spike didn't get hit. He was aiming for the knife hand, and his aim was good enough that he didn't doubt he'd hit it, especially with the sweeping arc he'd used. He was hoping she'd drop the knife, but if it didn't go far enough to carry it out of the trap, he'd dart in, or if it was close enough, reach in and snatch it out. And if it went wrong, hopefully Faith would still love a one-armed man. Though he was really hoping that wouldn't be an issue.

Castiel had to admit, he was impressed; it should not, really, have come as a surprise to find that the inhabitants of the compound could put together a devil's trap – given that they were under the tutelage of the Winchesters – but continually underestimating humans had become (or, really, had always been) habitual. Their determination was less surprising, granted, but no less welcome. It did not compare unfavourably with the atmosphere before he and his brothers had stormed hell, which was in part why he allowed them to run the show when it might have been just as easy to 'make with the angel mojo', as Dean might have termed it; it was certainly easier to reason that, coupled with the fact that the methods he'd learned of dealing with demons were those of a warrior on the frontline and not exactly designed with protecting their host in mind, to be the cause than to think in terms of trying not to attract attention, because subterfuge presumed a degree of guilt, right?

It would perhaps have been funny, how far he'd fallen; an outsider could have quipped about a vampire, a half-demon and an angel walking into a bar. Castiel did not yet understand that particular comedic trope, and was pointedly keeping his thoughts elsewhere.

Certain terms had been explained – punching bag, for one – and if any part of this rescue mission came easily it was obedience, so Cas waited. Had he been human it might have been an awkward silence, and proximity to the younger Winchester – the abomination - was still a less than comfortable experience, but he waited. There was every chance things would run according to plan...

… though he should not, really, have been surprised when they failed to.

Still, the demon was in the trap. The delay seemed... needless. This was a demonic trick, nothing more, and there was nothing that knife could do to its meatsuit which the aforementioned 'angel mojo' couldn't fix, and he'd been on the cusp of pointing that out to the one called Pike – the angry, wounded one (wounded in more than the ugly gash), who reminded him a lot of Dean – when the boy made his move.

“Olani adrpan ol lit” was out almost before the body of Jimmy Novak could draw breath. Given the demon's lack of discomfort thus far it might have been futile trusting in enochian exorcisms to make it reel and avoid further needless injury, but he had to trust in something. “Olani ol oiad niiso ladnah”

[I'm using http://tikaboo.com/enochian.jsp for vague translations – it's missing a lot of key words, but simplified transliterations seem to work okay. Also apologies for the delay in posting; trust the internet to go bibbeldy the moment I get in on plot...]
