Who: Stephanie Brown/Batgirl and Xander Harris
What: Steph just got to town. Xander finds her. There's probably gonna be squeeing.
When: Imma say Saturday. In the daytime.
Where: Random street! Woo!
Warnings: Uh... none that I can think of.

"Gotham's just full of surprises. And I'm ready for whatever's next," Stephanie said to herself with a smile as she drove the Rocochet of the roof of a Gotham building. Things were going good for her. She was out patrolling, she was in costume, in her element. Barbra had her back, Dick had accepted her. So what if Damien still didn't seem to like her all that much? She didn't like him all that much either, but she could deal with him. Hopefully, he'd actually start maturing at some point. The kid was only like ten, after all.

It's too bad that she didn't realize just how strange the next thing was going to be.

Her Rocochet bounced a bit as she landed on the asphalt of the ground and sped around a corner. But it didn't take her long to realize that something really wasn't quite right. She pulled her bike to a stop, slid the cockpit open, and sat up to look around, because she wasn't in Gotham any more. She knew Gotham pretty much like the back of her hand. After all, she'd lived there her whole life, except for that year she spent in Africa, and she'd been a vigilante by night for four years. This city... it was way different. And it was most definitely daytime. "Hey, O," she started, thinking she was speaking to Oracle through her comm link. "What's going on? Where am I?" And then she paused. "O? You there?" Another pause, complete with a nervous chewing of her lip. "Oracle?" The last thing she said was much quieter, but loud enough that if Oracle had been listening, she would have heard it. "Babs?"

She seemed to be skeptical and Xander couldn't blame her. If he were in her position (which he had been at one point), he'd have thought that the person telling him that they were in an alternate universe was out of their freakin' mind. But that wasn't exactly the case here. And since there were demons running around, he didn't want to just not say something. Besides, she was Batgirl. Xander really didn't want to leave Batgirl in a bad position. Or not ever talk to her. Because that would really suck. "I'm fine. Great, even. I'm just a little -" He didn't need to tell her that he was fanboying her right now. That wouldn't end well, would it? He was already risking his ass by putting all this other crazy info out there. One thing at a time.

"She's at this apartment complex. All the people who got here - like you and me - are staying there. Or most of them. You don't really have to, but it's safer than most places. The demons can't get in and it doesn't seem like any other baddies have gotten in there either." He shrugged, somewhat sheepishly. "I can take you there if you want me to. And, yeah..." Xander rolled his eyes a little. "He is. Or he's been. Getting all bad moody about some rules that have been put into place. But that's another story."

She mulled that over for a moment, wondering if she really could trust this guy or not before she came to a decision. "How about this," she started simply. "Why don't you tell me more about this place first. Then, after we're done with that, you tell me how to get to the apartment complex and I'll drive over there." Because, really, if it was a trap, that could be potentially bad. Sure, Stephanie thought she'd be able to get out of it in one way or another, and that was why she wasn't just brushing off the idea entirely.

"After all, I've got my," she paused for a moment, looking back at her transportation. It wasn't exactly a bike, what with it's three wheels. Two of them came together if she wanted, making it more bike-like, but that wasn't even close. When she got in, she was enclosed, like in the cockpit of a fighter jet or something, but she was sort of laying forward like she was riding a Ninja motorcycle or something. All in all, it defied classification. "Rocochet. And it really only seats one."

Xander couldn't help but feel a tiny bit let down when Batgirl told him that she was going to make her drive over to the apartment complex on her own. He didn't really know what he had been expecting to come of it, but her response was kind of a hard one for him to take on right then all the same. It was like meeting the President and having him tell you to take a few steps back and closer your mouth so that you don't breath on his finely pressed suit. Kinda embarrassing. "Right. Yeah, I can do that." He tried to hide the disappointment from his face, though it came out slightly in his voice as he straightened up and glanced the other way. He pointed in the general direction of the complex, then gave her the address.

"THey'll take you in there. Give you one of the anti-possession amulets, run through the rules and stuff for you about how to defend yourself against the demons. Stuff like that. I wasn't here when the apartment thing started, but I do know that a bunch of the first people who came here banded together and made it for future arrivals." He looked back to Batgirl and shrugged. "Such as yourself. It's pretty well protected and there are plenty of us good guys on the inside. So you should definitely head over and see if you can talk to Ba - Oracle. And Superman and Robin. Like I said, they're all there."

Stephanie did notice the disappointment in Xander's voice, and even though she didn't really know the guy, or know what he was up to just yet, it made her frown some. "Sorry. But like I said, it only seats one. You can tell just by looking at it. Plus, I don't really want to leave it just parked somewhere." Hopefully, if this complex really was what Xander said he was, and people like Babs were there, then it would have a safe parking deck or something. Hopefully.

But something caught her attention after she explained a bit more about her Rocochet, and it made her perk a brow under that mask she wore. "Anti-posession amulets to defend against demons? Seriously?" That was pretty new to her, after all. She was used to just... generally crazy badguys that were still human. Or at least mostly human, like in Ivy's case. Then again, Ivy had been acting better for the past while, so that helped some. But demons, that wasn't exactly what she did.

"Hey, of course. I said nothing." He did say nothing. It was just the sound of his voice that was giving him away. He needed to man up! He wasn't Andrew. He was Xander. And even though his geeky heart was skipping for joy at everything that was happening here, he knew that he couldn't exactly get away with flailing on about Batgirl when she needed him to help. He was helping, of course, but he could have been more helpful. "It's really cool, by the way. They definitely don't sell those around here." He made for a lame smile. Okay, okay. He had to comment on the Rocochet. But that was all he was gonna do. Honest.

"Sounds crazy, huh? If you're willing to accept that you're in a completely different world, then you'd better be willing to take on the fact that there are things here that you wouldn't ever find in Gotham." He shrugged. "Well, not exactly. There are demons here. Demons who are kinda trying to release Lucifer from hell. Again: I know. It sounds like I'm just adding more crazy on top of the former crazy, but it's true. You need the amulet to keep the demons from possessing you. It won't help you fight them off or anything, but it'll keep your ass from getting taken over...for the most part. And getting taken over is bad. 'Cause unless the demons let you go, you're gonna be their bitch until someone either kills or exorcises you."

When it came to everyone in the Bat family, Stephanie was actually the least doom and gloom of the bunch. She never fought for vengeance like so many of the others did, it was always trying to do the right thing, and she fought for hope. Stuff like that. And because of the fact that she wasn't filled with so much doom and gloom, Stephanie sometimes tended to comment on the less important stuff. That didn't mean that she missed the bigger stuff, she was just more relaxed than the others quite often. Which did lead to screw ups of epic proportions from time to time, but still. And that was why she felt the need to make one last comment about the Rocochet. "Yep. It's custom. They don't sell them back in Gotham, either." And boy, wasn't that the truth.

And at the description of exorcising demons and wearing anti-possession amulets, Stephanie had to blink, quickly followed by a short spell of her staring at him. "Demons that go around possessing people? Seriously?" she asked, frowning a bit. "Well crap. Sounds like this place needs help alright.
