Entry tags:dawn summers, tim wayne/robin

Who: Tim and Dawn
What: hot chocolate
When: after the comm post
Where: lobby then the city
Warnings: probably none

Tim had been in a miserable state since Cissy arrived. He felt bad. He should have been happy to see his teammate like she was to see him, but it brought up so many unwanted memories that instead of those feelings all he was graced with was despair. Cissy came from a time when Bart was still alive. There Bart. Tim came from one where he wasn't. A world where Kid Flash and Superboy were non existent. He hadn't quite dealt with it all himself, and now he'd have to figure out some way to tell Cissy that their good friends were dead. That two of five were gone and he didn't know if he could do it. Bart and Kon's deaths wounded Tim deeply.

He hadn't quite digested them himself. It left a bitter flavor in the back of his throat. It left him restless with a need for an escape. Even if it was only temporary, he'd take it. He waited in the lobby for Dawn just as soon as he got off line, not wanting to wait another minute in that complex where he was starting to feel so smothered and trapped. He needed air and air with Dawn was even better. He wasn't really paying attention to his surroundings, though he should have been looking out for the girl he was waiting for. He was way to trapped in his own thoughts and own head. He was leaning against a wall with his arms folded and face blank despite the worries his face didn't betray the emotion, but his body language did. He knew that was something he'd have to work on, but that was the furthest thing from his mind.

She started to smile, but stopped when she saw that he was frowning. "Is that okay?" At least he'd have more people here that he knew from home. Dawn was thrilled that Tara and Giles had recently showed up. Especially Tara. Her death had been so recent.

"I don't think you really need to do anything fancy to hot chocolate. Just normal, good, old-fashioned hot chocolate would be good. Maybe with a little whipped cream." She liked just walking along beside him, her eyes absently watching the street around them. Though she was distracted, of course, by Tim. She looked over to him, hoping he was alright. "Tell me about your teammate."

He was and he wasn't. The feeling was mixed Walking beside Dawn made it feel a little better then he had been earlier. "It is good..but she's two years behind me. That's not good. So much changed, I don't even know how to start telling her. "There was an edge to his voice. Suggesting very little of this change was a good thing. He was trying not to name names, very unaware that Dawn knew who he was already and what he was. He didn't want to repeat it again. Saying it once on the boards was hard enough. Telling someone he cared about who wasn't within his vigilante circle was damn hear impossible. He was worried about putting her in danger. Not that she wasn't already considering where she came from and all this talk of hellgods. But she didn't need more danger. She had enough to deal with. Revealing identities always got tricky. See; Stephanie Brown. Spoiler.

His free hand brushed some dark bangs from his face and he looked up at the sky. "She's gonna ask questions sooner or later." He was trying not to look to upset, but if it came down to him explaining the deaths of his best friends it would slip and crack. Tim just shook it off and took the change of subject as it came. "I know a little diner down the street. They've got good hot chocolate."

"Yeah, I know how weird it can be with the time difference." It was still weird that she was several years behind Buffy. "You can practice on me, if you want?" Dawn just wanted him to be in a good mood again. She didn't like that he was having problems. "Or not. It's up to you." She really didn't want to step on any toes, or get into his problems if he didn't want her there.

"A diner sounds great." Dawn smiled again, glad that there was something else they could both focus on. Because like she'd said, hot chocolate would make things better. "Do they have a jukebox? I love those things." Especially when they had those crazy older songs about food, like Waffle Houses always seemed to have.

"You have no idea." Tim said with a tiny frown, but he stuck his free hand in his pocket and shook his head. "Lets just forget about it for now." The tone came out a little harsher than he intended, but Tim really wasn't known for being so open and sharing his emotions and problems up front. He didn't even know how to deal with them really internally so when they were out there wide open problems erupted.

"A jukebox?" He laughed. Actually laughed. Not at her, but at the idea of a jukebox. He hadn't seen one of those in..well he'd only seen them in movies actually to be honest. "Maybe it is a diner. I don't know, I wasn't looking for it the last time I went."
