Who: Needy and Cal
What: Going out for chili cheese fries.
When: Evening, September 28th
Where: From the apartment lobby to a random restaurant.
Warnings: Uh. Probably language. I don't know what else there would be.

Needy hated to be the one to have to break it to Cal that he was apparently in some books, but he should probably know. Plus, was probably for the best if he heard it from her and not some random person that could show up at any point, having already read them before arriving there. She knew it sucked to have your life thrown out there for everyone to know when it really wasn't their business in the first place.

And no, she wasn't delusional. Or, well, maybe she was sometimes. But that wasn't anyone's business either. So what if she saw people that weren't there sometimes? She'd learned how to ignore it since it started happening, just like how she ignored the non-existent Colin as she walked down the stairs to meet Cal in the lobby. But she wasn't quite delusional enough to think that a heaping plate of fries was going to make everything all fine and dandy again.

When she saw he wasn't down there just yet she plopped down in one of the chairs to wait patiently.

He trudged down not long after, he'd had to take a moment to find his shoes and to decide what to do with this new information, which was going to be, he'd already decided, largely to ignore it.

"Hey." He said, fluffing a hand over Needy's hair.

"Oh my god, I so just spent like... an hour doing my hair!" Needy started, a slight valley girl tone in her voice. But she couldn't keep it up for long. She ended up laughing as she ran a hand through her hair, just fixing it up slightly. "Ready to head out?" she asked, smiling up at him.

He did smile at that, just a little, shaking his head, "Yep. And a little amazed that you found a place before I could, but I'm not going to complain." He said with a shrug. He was very rarely the sort of person to complain about food, unless it was Niko's.

Grinning, Needy stood up and turned to head towards the door. "Maybe I've been sneaking around, checking for one behind your back this entire time."

There was that faint smile, the one that was gone again as quickly as it appeared, "Yeah yeah yeah, and I haven't been hitting the phone book as hard as I used to, work's actually had customers for once, I'd call it a Christmas Miracle, but it's a little early."

That and he didn't believe in miracles, but that went without saying.

"It's no big deal, really," Needy smiled as they walked, bumping her shoulder playfully against his as they walked. "So what if it took months for us to track down some fries? We finally found some. That's the important thing here."

He nodded, bumping her back, just once, "Exactly, and if they're any good, well, we know where to find them again later, and if they suck, that just means our quest is still on."

"Seriously though, it took us long enough to find them," Needy chuckled a bit. "I mean, if the little podunk town I'm from had them, you'd think that they'd be all over the place somewhere like this."

There was another crooked smile, "You have to take into account that we were on vacation for most of that time though, or a good chunk of it, anyway."

Yes, he was counting their most recent shenanigans into 'vacation'

"Yeah, we were. So that's true," Needy grinned up at him as they made their way down the street. "But we've been here for months, and I'm pretty sure we've been here in town for longer than we were in other places."

"Yeah, but were we in town and actively looking for chili fries for longer than we were elsewhere?" This was, apparently, an important distinction in his mind.

Or he was just being a butt because he could.

"You know what? I'm going to say yes to that. Pretty much just because I can." Needy smirked some at that. Because shit, she could be just as big of an ass about things as Cal could.

He did smile at that, crooked and amused, shaking his head, "You know, you're kind of a jerk sometimes. Lady-jerk, I don't even know what that would be. I should probably not try and make up words before I have delicious delicious chilicheese fries inside me."

"I think the word you're looking for is probably something along the lines of bitch," Needy chuckled again. "But that's alright, you love my bitchiness." And no, she didn't mean that in a sort of... you're in love with me way. She really, really didn't. But none the less, to prove her point she linked her arm around Cal's.

"Naah, that's being mean for the sake of being mean, you're just an ass sometimes when you want to be. Not the same thing at all. Maybe you're like, selectively bitchy. There's a good job description." He said with a nod, his own arm sliding around her waist, it was comfortable, really.

"And it usually is just for the sake of it. Because it's fun." And yes, walking like that was pretty comfortable with him. It was something she'd gotten used to over the past few months, too.

Really, it was no wonder why Andrea seemed to think they were dating or something. That crazy woman.

Yep, absolutely crazy. There was obviously nothing going on. Obviously. In conclusion: crazy.

He nodded, both brows arching a moment, "Mmhmm, that's exactly my point. So where is this place?"

"It's a couple blocks away from the bar, actually. Which'll be handy if it's good, then we can pick some up while we're working sometimes." Grinning, Needy turned a corner, pulling Cal along with her.

Maybe some people just had to assume things because they wanted to live vicariously through others.

"That does come in handy." He said, nodding, "Not like our boss is going to notice if one of us vanishes for a few minutes, well, not unless lightning strikes and he's actually there while we are."

He shrugged then, arm still looped around her waist, "I think we scare him a little. Which is good, means he's smart."

"Yeah, I think we probably do," Needy chuckled a bit. "I mean, how long were we gone this last time? And before that we took a few weeks off. And yet he still lets us keep our jobs. He's probably scared that the demon powered girl and the half Auphe guy'll kill him if he fires us. Even if he doesn't know that's what we are."

He nodded, "Something like that, yeah. Really I think it's more a case of we actually do the work before we slack off. Or do the work while we're slacking off, something tells me this is new and different for him in employees."

"Lucky for me, most of my job consists of looking at IDs. Then comes putting up the chairs at the end of the night, then breaking up the occasional bar fight." Needy couldn't help it, she made a face at that last one. "Part of me wishes those would happen more often."

He shrugged one shoulder, "Could be fun, but then we'd get a reputation and probably have more trouble poking around, and the idea is not to draw attention to ourselves." His smile was crooked, "I'll see what I can do to stir things up a little though."

"Yeah, I guess you've got a point there," Needy said, rolling her eyes a bit.

But it was about then that they rounded another corner and started past the bar they worked at. "Looks like another dead night at the bar," she said simply as she peeked in the windows, lifting one hand in a small wave to the bartender on duty. Yeah, they weren't going to be getting too many tips that night if it kept as dead in there as it was at that moment.

He huffed, shaking his head, "It's a good thing we make a regular salary or we'd all be on the breadline." There was an almost laugh that followed, sweeping a hand through his hair, "Which isn't even called that anymore, if it ever even was. Not that it matters, since we don't exist anyway and wouldn't be collecting unemployment to start with."

He also tossed a half-wave to the bartender, looking just as bored as they always did, "What's that guy's name anyway? Frank? Floyd? Mercutio?"
