"You know, saving people, hunting things. The family business." Imagine coming home to find your wife in the arms of another man. Now take that feeling and add the horror of discovering she's covered in blood, that there are puncture wounds on her neck and that the man isn't kissing her like you'd first thought, he's actually killing her. Picture the scene: a woman lets her two children play in the woods the same way she always does in the time between dinner and bed. Throw in the shadow of a full moon and the cry of a wolf. Add to that the cries of the mother when she comes across her two children... or rather, what's left of them. Remember Little Red Riding Hood and the Lumberjack? Well what if grandma wasn't a wolf in disguise, what if she was the wolf? Hunters aren't born like Slayers and they aren't moulded from a legacy like Watchers. Hunters are created out of pain and grief and loss. |
