They came to our world seeking refuge...

...twenty years later they are still here.


What was meant to be "happily ever after" wasn't what we or they thought it would be. People who know as characters in childhood fairytales came to our world to escape a war in their homeland twenty years ago. Ten years go the mirror they used to come this world shattered mysteriously and now they are trapped in our world.

As the citizens of Astoria, called "Stories" by the locals, continue to live a mundane existence caught between moving on and clinging to their identity, are they truly safe in our world? Will they ever find their way back?

Do you have the ability, strength, ingenuity or sheer stubbornness to survive in a world without modern conveniences? A world where magic is for a few, where elves walk freely, and where pestilent winds escape the fortress in the North and lay waste to the land in droves.

The year is FA 480, amidst the height of the biggest conflict Middle-earth has ever faced against the Deceiver Morgoth. The Free Peoples of Middle-earth are falling to ruin. The remnant of the Ñoldor wander aimlessly in the hills or secret themselves away in the hidden cities. The Edain are under constant assault from the Easterlings and the world itself is on the verge of collapse under Morgoth's shadow.

All seems lost, and hope fades with every passing season.

But in the midst of the darkness something strange happens. People begin to arrive from different times, places and universes. Do they come to aid the Good that is left in the world, or will they join forces with Morgoth and destroy all that is left of the land? The Arrivals have the ability to tip the balance of power and in their struggle to adapt to a hostile, foreign land they must come together to survive or break apart and send the world to its absolute ruin. The People of Middle-earth can only hope that they come to help the besieged world win its hopeless war.

[info]chicagolicious is a private group storyline community, based in none other than the beautiful windy city – otherwise known as Chicago, Illinois. We would like to pride ourselves in being laid back and open to creativity. Though we do have a few guidelines to follow, we don’t have the average activity requirements. Maybe it’s credit card debt. Maybe it’s a gambling addiction. Maybe it’s a prison sentence. Some mistake from your past is coming back to haunt you, and you’ll do anything to escape. So, when a man in a slick suit knocks on your door and offers you a golden opportunity to completely fix your life if you spend a year in a corporate testing facility, you take it. Why the hell wouldn’t you? Even if the injections they’re giving you are a little suspicious, the corporation’s going to reward you handsomely for your service. It’s only a year. Nothing will go wrong.

Desperation is an original character, superpower GPSL based on twelve superpowered test subjects surviving for a year in an enclosed prison with a manipulatable environment. Each of them was desperate to escape their former lives, but the challenges aren't over yet....
