1979 is winding toward its own close. Conflicts between the Order of the Phoenix and the Death Eaters continue as Dark Lord continues pressing for dominion of the Wizarding world, and the Ministry will not stand for it. With the rise of a new administration five years ago, Britain has seen the situation grow more and more tense as all three sides raise the stakes one after another.
Laws prohibit travel without Ministry approval, and increasingly, democracy seems to be giving way to a police state. Muggleborns and their advocates disappear in the night as terrorists spill innocent blood in the streets. Pureblood manors are burned and ransacked as an organization for peace lashes out to fight fire with fire. Chaos ensues.
The loudest question on everyone's minds and lips is the simplest: who will win?
No one is certain, and no one is certain what will be left for those winners when the smoke clears.lockdown is a Marauder-Era AU roleplaying game, taking the world of Harry Potter and exploring the theme of an extended civil war and its effect on the populace. The themes of freedom, safety, peace and conflict, the opposing forces of light and dark, and the idea of what measures are called for in times of war will all be questioned, examined, and turned on their head. In the end, the work of the characters involved and the ends to which they are willing to go, are the only things that will decide Britain's ultimate fate.

 Bewitching: A Harry Potter Next-Gen GameThe second wizarding war ended nearly twenty-five years ago. It is currently 2022, and the children of the next generation are preparing to start their next year of school. Peace is the only thing they've ever known, so their days are simply filled with concerns of balancing grades, relationships, clubs, and Quidditch. Perhaps, however, the peace has gone on too long. Instead of remembering what their parents fought valiantly to save, the students are starting to bicker amongst themselves. Snide comments are being made, blood status is being brought up in the halls, and bullies are emerging to divide the school into four not-so-equal parts. Headmaster Fardust has no desire to watch the past repeat itself. This year, students will be receiving a letter enclosed with their supply lists detailing the House Unity Project. Six students from each House will form a committee, headed by the Headmaster himself, to plan and execute events, games, and formal dances in an effort to promote House unity. | Twenty-five years after the fateful Tournament, the political atmosphere in Britain and Europe had changed drastically. The threat of the Dark wizard known as Lord Voldemort had disappeared, and in the years following the triumph, governments arose that were much more focused on cooperation and tolerance among wizards and witches at home and internationally. In 2019, a contingent of people led by Second Wizarding War hero Harry Potter and Bulgarian Quidditch superstar Viktor Krum formed, eager to encourage the next generation to focus on others' similarities rather than their differences. Both leaders spoke eloquently of the lasting friendships they had made and the valuable lessons they had learned during the 1994 Triwizard Tournament. They advocated a replacement event for the student population. With the assistance of the International Association of Quidditch, three years later, the inaugural Junior International Quidditch Tournament is set to begin. Four Quidditch teams representing their schools will compete against each other in a series of matches throughout the academic year, with two finals at the end of the year to determine the overall winner. And alongside all the Quidditch fever that is sure to grip the castle, the typical difficulties of an academic year at Hogwarts must still be traversed: exams, friendships, romance, and antics.  Original Character. Future. Arranged Marriage. 16 & Up. Almost 20 years ago the world made a last ditch effort to curb the disastrous effects of global warming. This move to protect the world also doomed it to an inevitable end; it has been over 19 years since a child has been born. The world as a whole had resigned itself to this bleak future until now, the year 2051. It was a group of scientists in Beijing, China who discovered the cure. They called it Hòu Rén (后人) or 'Posterity'. Hòu Rén is a serum, a cure that reverses the sterilization but only in people below the age of forty. In an attempt to not only capitalize on the joyous reaction from the public but to insure that the population will grow in the 'right' direction, the Hòu Rén community has been established. As China was the place where the cure was discovered, it was selected as the place for the first Hòu Rén community. Scientists have created a database of DNA samples, looking for key genes that will create an 'ideal baby' and the people with these 'perfect' genes are contacted and urged to join the community. It is advertised as being on a strictly voluntary basis with a substantial monetary incentive. People between the ages of 21-39 from all over the world will enter the Hòu Rén community to be paired up with their perfect genetic partner. The Hòu Rén Community is for the betterment of our world. A hundred years ago, supernaturals 'didn't exist'. They were figments of your imagination, things that went bump in the night and tall tales that you told your children. Not anymore. Supernaturals were in hiding, laying dormant and blending into the background in order to protect themselves, but during WWII, the need for their abilities became so great that hiding was no longer an option. The government had long been aware of the existence of supernaturals, and when Hitler was killed or died and the accounts of the death were so unusual they couldn't be explained, people started asking questions. Keeping supernaturals under wraps became impossible and so the different races of supernaturals exploded across the lands. Just like any other minority, supernaturals weren't welcomed with open arms. Many were persecuted and some even killed for being 'different'. There was segregation and hate crimes and many churches labeled being supernatural an abomination before God. Supernaturals had to register with the government and were prosecuted if they were found without their registration cards. Many supernaturals went back into hiding. During the sixties, however, in the height of civil rights and love, peace and harmony, being supernatural didn't seem so bad in the grand scheme of things. There were vast civil rights movements and eventually laws were passed protecting supernaturals the same as other minority groups. Still, not everyone accepted people who were 'different'. Many supernaturals migrated to areas where they were more widely accepted. Some may have moved right next door to you. In Toronto, Ontario, Canada, moving into an apartment with a new roommate might mean that you're sharing a living space with a werewolf. Or maybe your son's new kindergarten teacher is an elemental. Or that girl you have a crush on in Algebra just might already know because she's a telepath. Things are still a struggle when it comes to acceptance and not everyone is happy about the path that the world is taking towards equality. Where do you stand? Which side will you take? | |
