onceuponadream // onceuponamodly| THE PREMISE Have you ever dreamed you were someone else and it was so vivid that, for a moment, you were convinced you were that person. It couldn't be, of course. That person isn't even real and dreams are just dreams, right? Or, maybe not. A series of people, all around the world, are experiencing that very thing and, as it turns out, there's much more to it than it being just a dream. Those people are all reincarnations of fictional characters - imaginary people from literature, mythology, nursery rhymes, fairy tales, etc. They don't have conscious memories of their past lives, but, boy, do they dream about them. Some of them even have special abilities related to their former selves. The dreams can be good or bad, but the one thing they all are is vivid. Those affected might feel like they're going crazy at first, at least until they begin to discover that there are more people like them, that these aren't just random, recurring dreams. |

Two years after the creation of Compound One, the refugees find themselves in the midst of civil war. Threat of death from their fellow man now equals the infection. As the bounty on their heads grows higher with every passing day, those still trapped in the Compound struggle to achieve basic human rights under the new leadership regime. There are desperate attempts to move the imprisoned to freedom - even if safety is now impossible. And a core group of heroic survivors attempts to start life anew, under some semblance of civilization. But as the realities of life press down harder than ever before, these basic tenets of survival in New York have finally been accepted: The Quarantine will never be lifted. The refugees can never go home. Compound Two will be constructed. |

bespelled A romantic, genuinely nice guy (this journal) needs a manipulative, scheming female he's in love with who will wrap him around her finger and then summarily crush him (romantically or otherwise). A revolution has recently taken place within society’s attitude towards certain laws and civil rights. This transformation has left many traditionalists scared and fighting but most have been liberated due to the changes and are keen to allow them to continue. Mainly the rights for women and children have altered drastically. The change to female rights is almost immediately noticeable with the change of fashion.
Medical and scientific understanding has improved and the experimentation for artificial limb use and ‘upgrades’ to the physical being are becoming highly fashionable however extremely costly.
Whittlewell is the capital city of the British Empire and is on the cutting edge of the steam revolution. Its advances in air ship travel and compact innovations for steam capability are the envy of the world and have lead to the boon in wealth. However the gap between rich and poor is ever expanding.
