 The War of the Five Kings and its subsequent aftermath saw to Prince Tommen Baratheon, in all his youthful pliability, being crowned the rightful King. Meanwhile, Daenerys 'Stormborn' Targaryen from across the Narrow Sea dissolved the unrest in Slaver's Bay and prepared to make true her long awaited ambitions to sail into Westeros. It was not long before the news spilled into Westeros, whether by ravens or by spies and messengers. The mysteries surrounding the identity of Robb's heir notwithstanding, fealties were sworn and allegiances shifted as the West scurried to side with either the House Baratheon or the House Targaryen in anticipation of the Great War That Never Happened. Indeed, the Stags and the Dragons had been a blade's length away from the first blood spilt when the Wall gave. In spite of the fierce efforts by the Night's Watch, under the joint command of Lord Commander Jon Snow and Lord Stannis Baratheon, to keep the Others--and wights--at bay, it was simply not enough. Even as Wildlings lent reinforcements for the Watch, those who had been quick to dismiss the threats from the north soon learned that the Starks' warnings of old had not merely been fanciful tales as originally believed.  |

| the held and taken - rules - ability/powers played bys - application "In the struggle for survival, the fittest win out at the expense of their rivals because they succeed in adapting themselves best to their environment." - Charles Darwin. January, 2006. A virus spread quickly through the small town of Darston, Texas. It affected the body's immune and nervous system, killing in a matter of days. No one knew what it was or how it got there but they needed help and they needed it now. The Government quickly took part and assisted the town in any way they could, and also made sure the disease didn't spread to the nearby towns by placing a quarantine that lasted two years. Military forces took over the town and no one walked in or out without their permission. In those two years, many rumors floaed around the town. Some said that virus was a military weapon that the US Government tested on the town; others said that it was the beginning of the plague of the XXI Century; and other said it was simply the way nature worked. But whatever it was, it killed more than half of the population. Today, it's been two months since the quarantine is over and people are slowly taking up their lives again. Families can go visit their relatives, the children can hope again that this year their parents will take them to Disneyland and the newlyweds can finally have their honeymoon in Hawaii. Everything's back to normal... or is it? A group of people that survived the virus start feeling strange and weird things happen around them. A girl dreams of the future, a basketball player could've sworn he literally flew when he jumped for a slam dunk, things starts to catch on fire for no reason near a girl, people saw a boy being in three places at the same time,... Is it all just their imagination or is something else going on? Could they really have evolved, becoming superhumans? No one's sure, but they need to be careful. Big Brother's still watching. |

 Located just four miles out of Napa, California, The Sutton Academy has become the place for the rich (and sometimes famous) to send their children. Boys and girls come from all over the country (and in a few cases, the world), to receive a first rate education. At least, that's what the brochures say. The truth is, The Sutton Academy has become more of a 24-7 babysitter for rich kids rather than a school. The price tag is high, but it's a rarity that kids fail out, or get kicked out of Sutton, something their parents know when they sign their checks each year. |

I'm searching for a home for my boy, Otto 'Omen' Krusp.
I consider him either a mutant or a 'deformed' shape shifter, meaning that he can only assume he natural form which appears rather demonic and in-human or a false human skin.
I'm also hoping that the comm is rather slash friendly, as I plan to play Otto as a young gay boy looking for a relationship.

 It's 2006 and Alice is busy planning a wedding, Bella is busy trying to figure out if she's really ready for everything, Jacob is finally back home but hurting and still pinning over Bella, and Heidi is about to set up camp in Port Angeles. The Volturi are a lot more interested in Bella and the Cullens than the Cullens think. They have been debating how to go about making sure Bella is changed, and new hunting ground. The story starts a week or so before Heidi comes to America with two other Volturi members. Rachel Black comes home and everything appears to be calming down. That is until more vampires show up... Not just the three Volturi, but the Denali family come down from Alaska for a visit to the Cullen's. They want to know why they've heard rumors about the Volturi coming States side.... Meanwhile the humans are just caught in the middle of mythological battles. Let the tale begin. Home to famed research departments, lively students, and amazing career oppertunities. Oh, and some vampires, witches, and shapeshifters. As humans we have always been concerned with 'the other', what else is 'out there'. Well, aliens don't exist, but some of the creatures of myths and legends do. The majority of humans live completely unaware of the supernatural creatures living amongst them. The only difference between humans and these creatures? A slight difference in genetics which means that vampires need to drink blood to survive, witches can perform magic and shapeshifters can shapeshift into different animals. Of course not everyone sees these creatures as 'just different genetics'. The few humans that do know that they exist consider them to be evil and dangerous, and have banded together to form groups of hunters, killing any they find. It isn't much of a suprise then to find that vampires, witches and shapeshifters keep themselves to themselves, pretending to be human. For decades the students and employees of the University of Reading have been doing just that. Many families have convinced their children to go to their old University because Reading has been 'safe' for so long. Unfortunatly all good things come to an end, and it seems that a group of hunters has arrived in Reading over the summer. The question is...who will you be? Dark Pretenses is an RPG that requires a detailed standard of roleplay. A recent loss of members due to a busy period has left us with a lot of places open, and there is also a whole host of characters needed for plots by our members.  - Plot - Rules - Character List - Played-Bys - Team Info - Apply - - Contacts (F-Lock) - Advertise (F-Lock) - So we all know that Captain Jack Harkness runs Torchwood Three, that Torchwood One was destroyed in the Battle of Canary Wharf, that Torchwood Two is headed by "a very strange man" and that Torchwood Four is currently misplaced. Well that's all fine and dandy, but things are about to start changing. Torchwood One is reopening just outside of London and is now known as Torchwood 1.1 and Torchwood Two's leader has been replaced. Torchwood Three of course isn't any different, with the exception that Jack has been missing for a bit. The big thing is that Torchwood Four is back on the map, headed by the same person it had been before it was 'misplaced'. It seems Torchwood Four, headed by one Major Charlie Sheppard, had a minor malfunction involving Cardiff's rift. In fact, Torchwood Four is located right near Torchwood Three, or at least it was until it and its team got pulled into another universe. Which is where Lucian Devereaux comes in. It seems that he got a hold of a Time Agent's vortex manipulator in the far future and has been using it at his own pleasure. Well, until it backfired and he was sent to the present and made the rift flux, sucking Torchwood Four into it. Luckily, Major Sheppard wasn't there at the time. Now as for Lucian, he'd been jumping through time randomly and unwillingly as he tried to fix the vortex manipulator. During this time he realized that he'd jump from the present in Cardiff to some different point in time and then back. Along the way, he managed to bring back people with him who shouldn't be during that time, and that caused the rift to go haywire, also bringing people to the present that shouldn't be there: those that are dead, those who aren't born yet, and those in other dimensions. And so, Torchwood realized they needed to work extra hard to try and stop this and thus re-established Torchwood Four, somehow convincing Charlie to head it once more. And that is where we begin... Ever at the ready is a Torchwood/Doctor Who RP that allows for any character from either series (old and new) to be incorporated, as well as original characters! It takes place around the start of season two. We've only just started and we're looking for a majority of the canon cast still, including The Doctor (any of them) and most of Torchwood Three. We're also looking for bad guys and aliens to be hunted down, as well as people to fill up the other Torchwood Teams. If you think you're ready, then we're ready to have you join the team! Ever Wonder What The Lives Of The Chosen Ones Are Really Like?
Welcome To New York's Upper East Side, Where we live and go to school and play and sleep - sometimes with each other. We all live in huge apartments with our own bedrooms and bathrooms and phone lines. We have unlimited access to money and booze and whatever else we want, and our parents are rarely home, so we have tons of privacy. We're smart, we've inherited classic good looks, we wear fantastic clothes, and we know how to party. Our shit still stinks, but you can't smell it because the bathroom is sprayed hourly by the maid with a refreshing scent made exclusively for us by French perfumers.
It's a luxe life, but someone's got to live it.

&netherworld;
As it is known to mankind now when death grips a lifeform they perish and are sent into the earth where they will reincarnate into something beautiful and provide the world with the always looping circles of life and death. But, what if those always interlocking circles were bent and broken apart leaving the Valley of the Light forever separated from the Land of the Dead never to continue on the chain reactions of life, death and reincarnation. However this does leave the question: Where does one go when they die if these linked circles are torn apart? A question that has a solution only known to those who have passed on to see their new land.
Enter the Netherworld.
A sub-world once connected to the state of the living, the Netherworld is an area with many realms all connected to each other by strange portals. Although the Netherworld in itself is mostly a neutral land, there are certain realms that seem to be more of a threat than the others. It is true that to be in this world one must be dead and therefore shouldn't have the need for fear of any things that could be even remotely ominous - but with death comes fear and with fear comes pain. Dead one might be, food you may not need but even in the Netherworld blood and pain are as real as the living.
There are four different realms joined together in the Netherworld, each one with their own creatures native to its grounds - it is up to those in the realms to decided for themselves which creatures are friend and which are foe. Judge not by their looks entirely for such things can be deceiving. Shelter can be found if you look hard enough in areas such as caves, and holes. They can even be built if one is creative enough to try. Food and drink are not necessities in the Netherworld as there is no hunger to be felt. There is only one large difference between the living and the dead carried into the Netherworld - the dead have no hearts. The similarities are as simple as if one is cut they will bleed and feel pain. Cold and warm tempuratures have effects on the dead although it is minor. Injuries sustained in death are carried over into the Netherworld as permanent scars.
There is but one rule to the land that allows you to pass through realms so freely: the dead cannot visit the land of the living under any circumstances. The living may, however, visit the dead. Perhaps - if one is lucky enough to be called by the living for a meeting, that is.
