Text/RP: Failure
Who: Hannah and Theo
When: Saturday, September 29, 2012
Where: DraĆochta Pub, Ireland, then Theo's home.
What: Hannah has been abandoned and reaches out.
Warnings: High emotions, spiked drinks, NSFW

Hannah had been abandoned.

Oh, of course, she'd assured Ginny that she would be fine and to go, of course, because her friend had an early game tomorrow, and she hadn't wanted to throw her off it. It would just be one more thing to feel guilty over, and she didn't think she could handle that. Not with how her brain had been lately.

That had been nearly two hours ago, though, and she'd had a few more drinks on her own. While not as much of a lightweight as she'd been before the explosion, she had definitely crossed the line enough that she would be feeling it tomorrow. It didn't help that a cute guy from the other side of the bar had sent over a couple drinks too, and she'd been just buzzed enough to accept them rather than politely declining them.

Her head was foggy, her vision slightly blurred, and there was a throbbing in the scar on the back of her head that refused to dull. "Shit," she breathed as she stumbled as she got up. A hand flung out to catch her, holding onto her arm just below her elbow, as an arm went around her back.

"Whoa there, are you all right, miss?" a man asked, and she found herself looking up into amber eyes that she could barely focus on.

To her horror, she felt tears filling her eyes and lifted her other hand up to push at his chest weakly. "M'fine," she slurred.

"You don't look fine. I can--"

"I'm fine," she repeated more insistently, louder this time, as she pushed him a little harder. The eyes she was managing to focus on slightly better narrowed in irritation, and he let her go abruptly and took a step back, his hands raised to show he wasn't touching her anymore.

But that moment of clarity wasn't lasting, and her vision began to swim again. Hannah pushed forward, making her way to the loo on feet that weren't quite steady, and she let out a soft sob once the door swung shut behind her. Fingers lifted, threading through her hair and squeezing tight at the roots as she pushed her back against a wall, her tears starting to spill over now.

Something was wrong.

While she wasn't always a clear and focused drinker, this was a level she knew, even in her inebriated state, was not normal. Panic raced in her chest as she fumbled to get her phone out of her pocket, and she scrolled through her recent messages trying to figure out who to reach out, though it took much more focus than she had at the moment, and she soon clicked on someone's name, not really registering who it was.

He watched her ease the door open and he touched her arm gently to let her know where he was. "I'm glad it's improving."

He guided her hand onto his arm to lead her to the bed. "Are you all right here or would you rather be somewhere else?" He was rather self conscious that he'd brought her to a guest room instead of a living room or something, after the floo auror's attitude.

Although Hannah wasn't uncomfortable with the accommodations (it was nice to be able to lie down if her head started to swim again), she was becoming more conscious of what was going on, and it had registered that Aurors were on the way. Even though she wasn't thinking about what it would look like to them as far as Theo was concerned, she was thinking that it would just be another layer of embarrassing to talk to them while she was in a bed.

"I am comfortable here, but maybe it would be better to go to a couch?" she suggested almost hesitantly, not wanting to offend him. It was always a fear of hers, offending others.

"yes, this way," he said, acceding to her request immediately. "But stretch out if you start feeling lightheaded. I'll have something g brought for you to drink."

It didn't take long for the aurors to arrive. He kept himself off to the side after handing over the blood samples, but the way he was treated was rather disdainful jordering on hostile, though he kept his head down and a civil tongue in his mouth, though his growing grouchiness was likely evident. He only spoke up with his part in things, and I'd they said anything untoward to her.

"Thanks," she said softly, grateful that he was taking such good care of her. It was comforting to know she had more people she could count on than she probably realized.

Although normally an unfailingly nice person, Hannah definitely started getting snappish with the Aurors when she heard the way they were talking to Theo off and on, and she emphasized that he wasn't even there until after the fact, when she'd reached out to him for help. In any case, she was quite irritable by the time they left, though her vision had returned enough to make out more distinct shapes, even if the clarity wasn't there just yet.

"I'm really tired," she whispered once they were gone and it was just her and Theo again. Tired, yes, but her mind was racing, and she wasn't sure she would be able to fall asleep anytime soon.

"The bed has fresh linens on it, or I can bring you home if you'd like." Though he'd really rather she not be left alone until everything was back to normal.

"Though you should remain under observation for a bit longer," he added almost apologetically.

At his first words, she felt a spike of panic was through her, and she shook her head. "You said you'd stay with me," she whispered rather pathetically. She didn't want to be alone; she really didn't want to be alone. It wasn't a fear of anything happening, but rather more of a desperation to simply not be alone.

"Please," she added when he spoke again. She didn't care if it made her seem like some pathetic desperate little thing, and it would be safer for her to not be alone, just in case, anyway.

"I will. I promise. I'm sorry I, they just got to me," he said, rubbing his palms, real and fake, on his pants and then sitting next to her.

"You can stay here and I'll be right nearby. You'll be fine and I'll make sure of it."

Hannah's hands found his easier than they had earlier, and she squeezed them both weakly. "Don't let them. We both know what happened. I know you would never do anything like that, Theo," she said reassuringly, not wanting him to doubt her confidence in him for one minute.

"Can you take me back to the guest room? And maybe get me something to sleep in?" she asked, her cheeks flushing a bit, but it wasn't like she was in any state to be doing magic, and her jeans would definitely not be comfortable to sleep in. She just hoped he wouldn't think her some floozy chit for asking.

His smile which she probably couldn't see was a bit lopsided, and he squeezed back carefully. "Thanks. It's just been a while since people were jerks regarding my family."

He nodded and rose, guiding her up and tucking her hand into the crook of his arm to guide her back. "I think my sister still has some clothes here from when she visited last Christmas. I'm pretty sure they'll fit."

He headed them towards the bedroom again, and led her to the bed. A soft pop and then another, and he saw that his elf had come in and out with the clothes which were neatly folded on the end of the bed. "Just the house elf," he reassured her. "The clothes are right here."

"You aren't your family," she whispered firmly, squeezing his hands again, putting a little more strength in it this time, though she didn't have much to spare still.

Hannah smiled softly at his reply, thinking that it sounded like he didn't think less of her for it, and that was a relief. When he pointed out the clothes to her, she nodded, and then lifted her own shirt up and off, toeing out of her shoes as she did. It was a bit strange, feeling around the clothes the elf had brought in for her to try to figure out what was what, but eventually, she did figure out which was the night shirt, and she tugged it on, leaving her bra in place for the moment, not realizing that the shirt was both backward and inside out.

After sliding her jeans off and then stepping into the night shorts, she sighed, feeling just a bit dizzy from all the effort, and sat down, one hand pressed against her forehead, eyes closed.

He didn't quite choke as she started to pull off her shirt, but he did turn around hastily and take several steps away. He didn't leave because he was afraid she might fall or pass out still.

"You all right?" He asked, not quite daring to peek just yet just in case.

Hannah was oblivious to any sort of discomfort, and she nodded slightly at his question. "Yeah, just a bit dizzy, but that might be my vision clearing up some more," she answered. Her vision still wasn't 100%, but it was slowly getting better.

Leaning down, she grabbed her jeans and pulled her wand and phone from them, shifting over to feel around until she could set both on the little bedside table.

"I'll leave a you a glass of water on your night table. Is there anything else you need before I let you sleep?" He asked, his cheeks still a bit red as he turned to look at her.

"I'll probably wake you up a couple of times just to make sure your head is okay, but I won't keep you from sleep."

"Wait, I thought you were staying?" Hannah countered, unable to keep that slight spike of panic out of her voice. She really, really didn't want to be alone.

He blinked at her. "Oh, I didn't think you'd want me here," he said, and he sounded genuinely shocked, which he was. That she wanted him in the room, him specifically.

"Well, yes, I can stay. I need to change into something cleaner but I don't mind." He actually really looked at her for the first time since she'd changed, his embarrassment finally ebbing. "Ah.." he hesitated, torn between two directives, both earned from his sisters. "The shirt is on backwards," he said, again somewhat apologetic, not his usual by far.

Hannah mentally flailed at that, wondering when she'd given him the impression that she didn't want him to stay. "I want you to stay," she reiterated softly, not wanting him to doubt her sincerity in that.

She flushed a little deeper at what he pointed out, her hands coming up to feel along the upper hem of the shirt, trying to find any sort of tag. It seemed to be the printed on sort, and it took her longer to find because of it. While he was gone changing, she tugged the shirt off and put it back on, hopefully the right way this time, and then she reached behind her to unsnap her bra, sliding the straps off through her shirt sleeves in that way all women seem to master.

His sisters had, somehow, managed to impress upon him certain manners on top of those of a gentleman that he'd naturallt cultivated. Those Connie probably would have frowned at him for telling Hannah it was on backwards, his other had told him that it was better to let a woman know these things.

Not that he had much practice. Oh he was no virgin, but he'd not exactly gone out with anyone in a long time. But he did think it was only polite to let her know.

He beat a retreat and went to his own room to change and rinse off quickly. He'd pulled a long shift before he'd helped her. It made him feel better, and he dressed in some comfortable and he supposed somewhat fashionable and yet boring flannels. He'd bring one of those comfortable chairs from the library to curl up on.
