Prompt 16
Alec had been in Terminal City now for a few days. He had called though, which was good and Rachel was happy with that. He didn't have to be there, as long as he called. Just so she knew he was okay. After what the both of them had been through, how could she not worry? She was a woman. It was her job. She also knew the heat cycle was going on, which made her worry even more. No one better try to...have their way with him. That was her job, even if they hadn't you know, done it yet. He respected that when the time was right, she would let him know. It wasn't that she didn't want to, contrary she wanted to, she was just. Scared. They had decided that they should take it slow, because it seemed the right thing to do. She just..worried that with the girls around there, and she knew that he couldn't rightly just run from them. It wouldn't work. She clicked her tongue against her cheek. It was raining now. Alec told her that she couldn't stay that long in TC, but she had called Max, and asked if Alec was busy, that she wanted to surprise him. Max had said that he was just going over some papers in his room he had there and that she was welcome to come by if she wanted to give him a distraction.
Rachel looked at the rain and then wrinkled her nose, grabbing her jacket and heading out. She didn't mind getting wet, that wasn't the problem. The problem was that she didn't have a half a mind to take a change of clothes with her. Max met her at the front gate and smirked leading her in and to Alec's room. Alec looked up from his work and then smiled seeing her and got up looking at Max.
"Maxie. Could have told me she was coming."
"Figured it'd be better to surprise you. Then you couldn't say no Alec." Max smirked a little and waved her hand and walked off to do her own work.
Rachel smiled at Alec and pushed a few wet ringlets from her face and looked at him. "Sorry. I called to see if you were busy, Max said you could probably use the distraction.
"And a nice distraction it is, " He mumbled and kissed her and she kissed him back.
"I should go find Max and see if she has something I can change into. I forgot that my clothes were gonna get wet."
He smirked and then pulled her into his room and grabbed a pair of his pants and a shirt. "There. They should fit. And we have belts we can put on the pants to make them fit. Everything's makeshift here."
She smiled and then motioned her fingers for him to turn around. He smirked and did so, crossing his arms over his chest. She quickly changed and then cleared her throat. "You can turn around now."
He grinned and then walked over and pushed her hair from her shoulders and kissed her forehead. "Looks good." He handed her a belt and helped her get the pants to stay up and for fun he tickled her and she swatted him. He laughed and then pulled her down onto the bed with him and she rested against him, leaning back against his chest as his arms folded around her and rested on her stomach. He buried his face into her neck and smiled and gave it a little kiss.
"I love you Rachel Berrisford."
She smiled and moved her neck to the side a bit. "I love you too Alec Mcdowell"
He loved hearing her say that, even if he wouldn't openly admit it. But now he could say it back and not think twice about it. Because it was the truth, it had always been the truth. Manticore just never expected them to have that emotion towards someone. For the next few hours he held her close and snuggled into her, pulling her back against him. She smiled and when the few hours were up that she could stay without getting sick, Alec went home with her, both of them acting like kids in the rain by running through puddles and splashing the water at each other. This was something Alec never had, the sense of acting like a little kid. And Rachel didn't mind acting like an idiot. Because it was with Alec.
