Mafalda leaned against the cool stones of a large building, just far enough inside the alley that she could see the two girls approaching it while still being hidden in the shadows cast by the early-morning sun. She was not pleased about having to be awake so early, and she almost pitied the girls if they tried to cross her.
As they moved closer, she considered the best way to lure them into the alley. She didn't know much about Sally Anne, but she was fairly certain Granger was smart enough to not fall for anything too obvious... Scanning her surroundings for inspiration, her eyes fell on a mangy-looking cat ruffling through a pile of garbage. That would do.
With a flick of her wrist she hexed the creature, a large gash appearing across its stomach and instantly beginning to bleed. She smiled faintly behind her mask as the cat yowled in pain. She carefully floated the bleeding cat over to the alley's entrance, setting it down just inside the shadows where it continued to make the most wonderful pitiful noises. Now she just had to hope at least one of the girls' softhearted natures would convince them to take the bait.
