Draco tensed at the sound of Parvati's voice. It used to relax him. Other things used to relax him too. He didn't bother to wonder why these things had stopped working.
"I think I've taken this whole house," he replied, at least having the decency not to sound too sarcastic. Just tired. Perhaps sarcastic would have been better. "I'm trying to find some Ministry related documents."
At the mention of their date night, a pang of guilt flashed across his eyes.
"I'm sorry," he said, straightening up and leveling his eyes to her.

It had a been a long day at work. Draco had endured several tense arguments with various business partners, hadn't had time for lunch and had one of his coordinators submit her two week's notice.
Dutifully, one of the house elves offered him a tray set with a chilled glass, orange and other fixings for his drink. His face was dark and grave, just like it had been many years ago in that study.
