Nymphadora Tonks ([info]tonksified) wrote in [info]veritaserum_rp,

Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Remus, Nymphadora, and Max Lupin
Where: The Lupin residence
When: Tuesday night
What: Family chit-chat time

Tonks lay on the bed with Max curled up on her chest, sleeping away. His little snores were adorable, and even after three months, they still weren't old. It was dark out and the wireless was playing softly in the background, and as much as she knew Max needed to go back into his crib soon, she was quite happy hanging out with him for now.

Her and Remus' schedules allowed for them to not have to hire a nanny, which was, in Tonks' opinion, fantastic. She didn't want strangers raising their son.

"Remus," she called softly, keeping her eyes on Max to make sure she hadn't woken him up. It was an awkward angle, but she didn't mind. "He's out."

"He does," Tonks agreed reluctantly, giving the baby one more light back rub before stepping away and relinquishing him completely to Remus. "I suppose we do have to let him sleep on his own sometime." As much as she'd have liked Max to sleep through the night, he woke up fairly regularly for meals. "Night, little guy. See you in a few hours."

She grinned. Even if Remus didn't show his excitement, she was excited for him. Another store - being a successful business owner and doing something he loved was something she'd always wanted for him. She was thrilled it was a success so far. "That'll be brilliant," she said softly, and she meant it.

Looking down at her clothes, she made a face and a vague dismissive gesture. "Suppose so, but it's really all right. Unless you're trying to tell me something," she teased. "Go put him down, I'll change."

Remus wasn't going to show his excitement until he knew if a store was going to be a definite possibility. He was too used to getting his hopes up only to have them dashed a short time later. Of course, it seemed like things were on the right path now, but he wasn't about to count his hippogryff eggs before they hatched that was for damn sure. "We'll see what happens," Remus muttered under his breath. "It's not a definite or anything -- but it could end up happening."

He wrinkled his nose, chuckling softly. "Me? Try to tell you something?" he asked, feigning innocence. "Though, truth be told, I'm playing the husband who is fairly certain his wife would like to get out of the office clothes and relax for a bit before turning in to bed."

Rubbing Max's back, Remus left the bedroom and headed towards the nursery. As was his wont when he put Max to bed, he murmured stories or pieces of advice to his son. He knew Max wouldn't ever remember any of this as an adult, but it was somehow easier to impart knowledge about the workings of the world at this age than any other. "We got to an hour and forty three minutes last night," he said, gently laying Max in his crib. "Let's try for another five minutes tonight, shall we?"

Staying in the room long enough to make sure that Max had fallen asleep, Remus charmed the monitor on and set the mobile in motion -- just in case. He closed the door and headed back to their room, closing the door after himself. "And he'd down. Start your watch and let's see how long he can last tonight."

"You're very sweet," she said, giving him a nice pat on the arse as he left the room. Waving goodbye to Max again, she then set about peeling off the outfit she'd worn for the day. Nothing fancy - her standard jeans and a jumper ensemble, though she had to admit the tanktop she wore underneath wasn't all that pleasant-smelling. Pulling it off, she wandered over to the laundry basket and searched around for one of Remus' dirty shirts. Maybe it wasn't incredibly sanitary, but she liked the way he smelled.

Just as she was pulling it over her head, Remus returned. Wanting to greet him, but finding it impossible as her head was currently stuck in the head hole, she stood there with her arms up, looking rather helpless.

"I think I'm stuck," she said sheepishly. "Any chance you could give me a hand?"

He couldn't help but chuckle at the pat on his arse. It made him think of his own parents and how, even into his teenage years, they somehow managed to stay as much in love. At the time it had always made him cringe. Now, he found himself hoping things never changed between himself and Tonks.

Looking at Tonks now, though, Remus couldn't contain the bark of laughter. "Only you, love," Remus muttered, shaking his head. "Only you."

Entering the room, Remus lifted the shirt enough to help her untangle herself. "Shirts tend to go on when you put your arms through the arm holes. Not the other way around." While there was a hint of that old professorial tone in his voice, there was also a distinct fondness there as well. And he said nothing about the fact that he'd worn the shirt the day before either. Now freed, Remus stole a quick kiss. "You didn't tell me how your day was."

By the time Tonks managed to untangle herself with Remus' help, she greeted him with a stuck-out tongue. "Yeah, yeah, go ahead, take the mickey out of me. I'm allowed to be a little tired and confused sometimes." Despite her words, she was grinning wryly, and she returned his kiss with one of her own.

Once free to move around again, she plopped down on the edge of the bed. "Oh, you know. We caught a few bad guys, had one bloke tried and found guilty of the use of the Imperius Curse on his sister - had to testify in that one - and did our usual fooling around. Nothing terribly exciting. Yours?" She patted the spot next to her and gave him a winning smile. "Saved you a spot."

It was her klutziness that Remus found so endearing. And it was only the sheer adoration that kept him from mocking her even further. The stuck out tongue was tempting but he let it pass, instead settling to kiss the tip of her nose. "Of course you're allowed to be tired. I'm simply trying to help you learn to dress yourself." Alright, so maybe he wasn't completely done mocking her.

Remus shook his head, shoving his hands into his pockets. "On his own sister? Bloody hell." Not surprising anymore, but still -- It was amazing what some people could do in their own families. It made Remus glad he was born a half-blood. Not that Muggleborns couldn't be found guilty of similar crimes, it just made some of these things less likely.

"How kind of you to save me a spot," Remus said, removing his hands and settling on the edge of the bed beside her. With a smirk, he wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her into his lap. "Nowhere near as exciting. Was a quiet day save for one little blighter thinking he could slip out with a journal unnoticed."

"You'd be loads more useful if you tried to teach me how to undress myself," Tonks teased, poking him gently in the ribs.

She nodded, making a face. "Yeah, on his sister. Lifetime imprisonment, of course. Pretty cut and dry case, and the sister suffered a bit of spell damage, but she's recovering nicely."

Giggling in an embarrassingly girlish way when he pulled her into his lap, she wrapped her arm around his neck and gave him a brief, but deep kiss. "Yeah? Did you catch him? Force him to confess to his sins? Call the Muggle coppers on him?"

Remus arched a brow at that. "Why should I teach you how to undress yourself?" Remus asked, giving her a playful smile. "I find it more fun to undress you rather than to teach you how to do it yourself." As if in response, he lifted the hem of his shirt, running his hand along her bare side, then removed his hand.

He shook his head with a sigh. "I'd think that, after all this time -- nothing would shock me. Then..." he shook his head again. "There was a time I had wanted to be an Auror. I'm glad I never went through with it. I'm happier in my bookstore."

Remus sighed into the kiss, making a noise of displeasure when she pulled away. "You make me sound like some... magnum PI type guy." Remus shrugged. "When he suddenly couldn't move, it rather stopped him in his tracks. Called the bobbies and it was all taken care of."

She laughed and squirmed away from his hand, ticklish. "That's what got us Max to begin with, you know," she said with a grin. "Though I was thinking it'd be nice to get a refresher course." She too slid her hand underneath his shirt, rubbing his back.

Tonks sighed. "I'm glad you're in your bookstore, too. Leave the nasty Auror work to me, and just be you." She kissed him on the cheek.

Her eyebrows shot up. "Really? Was he Muggle? How did you explain that one, eh?"
