Daphne felt her throat tighten at his words. While part of her was positively elated at this news, as it meant Seth was no longer going to be attached to his pathetic excuse for a wife, it also meant, well, that he was no longer off limits. Daphne had become reliant on his marital status to keep her from going against her better judgment.
Seth was wonderful in many ways: sweet, charming, attractive, interesting, but he also had his glaring flaws. He was irresponsible, impulsive, and, as she had stumbled upon during their relationship, an addict in numerous senses. Those negative traits should have been enough to keep her far, far away as her father had clearly wanted, but for some bizarre reason, Daphne kept getting sucked back in to the vortex that was Seth Moon and everything that accompanied him. Her surefire forcefield had suddenly disappeared, leaving her feeling very, very vulnerable.
"I- Seth, I'm sorry," she choked out, attempting to maintain composure and proper manners in the midst of everything. A hand reached across the table to cover his. "Are- How are you holding up?"
