Okay so as you guys know I am completely useless at absolutely everything and have been avoiding this like the plague because I don't want to buckle down and actually figure things out for George. xD LAME SHAME ON ME.
It's two weeks away but I am going to be gone for a week for SDCC this year (yayayayay), the 20th-27th and I'm working a lot of hours at work beforehand to make up for it, so I'm a bit scatterbrained at the moment. I'm going home to visit family this weekend but I might be able to get myself to actually do some threads over the next week or so before I leave. As far as plots go I've been trying to work a few things out but I'm lazy and this post is getting too long so if you want to play with Georgie, comment and I'll tell you what I've got or you can tell me what you've got and I will love you even more because that means I don't actually have to think. :D
Even if I do manage to keep slacking off on actually RPing for the rest of the month I WILL BE COMPLETELY IN ONCE AUGUST ROLLS AROUND, DON'T YOU WORRY.

Okay guys, so a few things need to be said/clarified:
Clearly, EVERYONE is busy with school/life. This is understandable. In fact, Veritas, other than in its first two years a long time ago, has always been a holiday season type of RPG. By that I mean, extremely active during May-September, December and for a few weeks in Marchish.
The majority of our players are also in university now which makes things hard for activity to be high in specific months.
So first of all:
Despite lulls in activity, Veritas will NEVER close and will always be pumping full of plots for SURE during the months noted above.
I would really like to keep the flor da juventude plot on going because it is a low key plot that people can just work with on their will. That said, I would like to know what weeks are particularly busy for EVERYONE so I can know when to launch the crux of the plot.
Second, if you feel overwhelmed/unsure to keep your character, I'd prefer that instead of leaving you send Shana or Ashley an email...because, really, we understand and we'd love to still have you around to just be active at whatever points you can be active.
We will continue activity checks but obviously they will not be as strict as they are during peak seasons.
I know this letter may be fairly disjointed but I'm exhausted and rambling. More in detail once the mods are able to discuss a plan of action.
On that note, do give a HI if you're around and feel free to give all your thoughts on everything. :)

Gah! Okay, sorry the plot stalled a bit, this is half due to my crappy internet which isn't always at full capacity and also half due to the fact that I'm in school like 60 hours a week not including studying etc. Anyway, in the next couple of days, the plot will restart up again!

Hi guys.
Things have been really, really quiet around here lately. There are several characters who have been completely inactive for the past two weeks (answering machines are not counted as a journal post but are included in commenting for this check).
I understand that there are things that get in the way, and we are very understanding about that. We only ask that you let us know if you're going to be on hiatus for a while.
I've noticed especially that there are a severe lack of journal posts. These are really important for character development and keeping plot going, so please don't be shy with the journal updates.
Y'all are a fantastic group of players, so let's showcase your talent more often, yeah? :D The activity check is listed below.

Hi!
I just wanted to let you know that yes, I'm still here but unfortunately I managed to catch a flu or whatnot and am currently facing the world in a rather feverish condition. As soon as I'm remotely healthy again, I'll start posting and replying again as right now I just can't concentrate enough (and no, the medication doesn't help my coherency ;) )

Inboxes
Basically like answering machines-- the name Inbox is just because I couldn't think of a clever wizarding equivalent. Any ideas?
Anyways, let's get to business.
What is the purpose of an inbox?
Sometimes, if your character isn't friendly, or on the flip side, unfriendly enough, it's hard to make a comment on another character's journal entry or to ask them for a thread.
These inboxes are the equivalent of Facebook wall messages-- just random little hellos and pointless messages that characters can engage in. This allows them to build a sort of comfortable rapport without the pressure of a thread or trying to find random relevance to the person's journal entry. I know I have thought to myself, "Draco wouldn't even bother responding to this." And people shouldn't be punished for wanting to stay in character in that sense, but this is will provide another way of activity. Anonymous messages may be left too, of course under your respective accounts so the player knows who left them. So you can leave anonymous love messages and hate letters, as well. (Forgive me if this little information session doesn't make sense-- I'm tying this up as I'm on the phone with somebody @_@).
ALSO, some players are hard to find on AIM. People can leave OOC messages in these inboxes to coordinate threads and the like.
Where do I put the inbox?
Make a journal entry, and you can make your own little "answering machine" message. Edit the date so that it's not the year 2008, make it like the year 2020, so that the journal entry stays at the top. This way, when people go to your journal to leave a message, it's easily accessible at the top.
Make the subject: Inbox (unless we change the name of course), and the message can be up to you. For example, Draco's might be "Piss off."
What will it look like?

I also remember that in Greatestjournal, our old host, some of our players really put a lot of wonderful effort into their journal layouts, but these efforts went unnoticed because people never had a reason to directly visit other people's journals. So this is just an added perk for people who like to fiddle around with these things. We have a lot of talented members in our group right now too, so for those who want to spruce up their journal entry, it's a wonderful way to chat up some of your fellow RPers!

But this separates the relevant journal comments from the idle chit chat (that IS important to the three dimensional-ness of an RP). Also, if someone hasn't made a journal entry in a while, it's odd to hunt back and comment on something they wrote three weeks ago, whereas this is like an always active message center of sorts.
This will be a tertiary form of communication between characters, but will open up a few present obstacles.
That's all I can think of for now-- but everyone just make sure to put up your inbox by the end of the week.

N'WAY!
So I'm back! And I, for once, have ideas for the RP. No longer will I be reputed to be the useless foreboding storm cloud in this RP! I have bright ideas in the form of rays of sunshine!
apparently it makes people uncomfortable when i don't use capitalization. it makes me seem monotonous.
But, as you see! By adding lots of punctuation, capitalization, exclamation marks and emoticons, I seem infinitely friendlier! ^_______^
so yeah for realz i have some ideas.
one is: i know it's hard to sort of... think of something to say to someone, so i think we're gonna have a sticky at the top of all the journals that characters can go to-- like an answering machine almost, and people can just be like "hey let's hang" or "hey you suck -anonymous."
i'll put up an ooc about that later, once i fix my own charries' journals so that they'll be good examples instead of purple monstrosities.
anyone want to do a light thread? if not i'll be tinkering away at this stuff. thanks to all who have been active! you are my new favorites. hee hee. just joking. i don't do favorites.
(i am hopped up on pain medication.)
